On this week's episode of SOS, I'm doing a highly viewer requested episode on 7 songs that I honestly can't stand or else am sick of by bands that I love. Hope you guys enjoy it! Keep in mind I don't necessarily hate these songs.

aww, i love good riddance (the violin is so pretty), but i can agree that it's extremely overplayed

I actually learned that it was meant as an attack on Billie Joe's ex when i first heard the song. I still enjoy it.
Also the first five seconds of the song cracks me up every time.

Yak 3nu I agree. I was thinking songs like Troublemaker or Fuck Time from what he's said in the past. I also don't understand the hate to Good Riddance. I find it overplayed and it was my graduation song, but still, it's a song with a great message and still a favorite for me.

Like I said, there's other GD songs I don't like. Fuck Time is one of them ,but that wouldn't have been as interesting to put on this list because everyone knows I don't like that songs (well, most do) And no, I don't hate Nightlife at all for anyone reading, I like it
Nightlife is really good in my opinion, it has some weird vibe that I like
I, on the other hand, KNEW that he would put it here, after seeing Billie Joe in the thumbnail. After him saying that he didn't care for it in his Nimrod review last year, I knew it was gonna be here at some point. Also, the Trilogy's kind of easy pickings, don't ya think?
I, on the other hand, really like the song, but I guess that's probably because I'm not too jaded on it yet because I haven't heard it be overplayed like he has. Then again, I was one of the few people in my high school that proudly listened to Green Day that I know of, so I still have my liking of it.
I saw Patrick in the thumbnail and I was like what song from fob could he not like? And then it hit me young and a menace... I forgot it existed.

tbh Y&M sorta grew on me lmao i was like, 'eh' at first bc the chorus was fuhking annoying as shit and way too long but i mean the vocals and lyrics are goddamn beautiful so i just paid attention to the beginning, the bridge, and the end. and it never got on the radio either so i mean at least u didn't have to hear annoying kids screaming to it (tbh i don't even think it's good enough for radio play, even considering the garbage i hear there)

The lyrics and the drill sergeant are definitely the weak points of Psycho, but it is pretty solid otherwise. Still feel like they could've done a lot better with the riff they'd been playing for about decade and a half, though.
Psycho is one of the song that got me into them, so I was surprised too! But when I look back at the lyrics, well, it's not that great

I think I can explain 'Good Riddance' for you, Jon. It was intended to be sarcastic. However, when Billie Joe wrote & recorded it, he couldn't come to be negative about the relationship that it's about. He wrote the song about Amanda & if you look at the other songs he's written about Amanda, it's pretty apparent that he can't bring himself to say anything other than a passive-aggressive "have a nice life," or "I was someone completely different back then, as were you," or something. When you delve into his psychosis, the writing on the several songs inspired by Amanda makes more sense.
She dumped him when Green Day signed to Reprise because of the whole "sellout" bullshit stigma they got assigned to them. He never really got over her, as is apparent with how many songs she inspired & the nature of the songs' writings. Thus, he really can't feel bitter about her. It's, personally, why I actually love the song, as well as the fact that I wasn't a part of the relentless wave of people who heard the song overplayed on the radio or at celebrations like you, Jon. It shows someone got to Billie to the degree that he can't simply get over her like he probably wants to. It's a case of "what could've been," I think, but that's just _my_ interpretation of things in this case.
I had to play "Good Riddance" in a marching band field show back in high school. Every day... for the entire football season. It was cringeworthy, to say the least.

I know young and menace is hated by a lot of fob fans which i get. but hating on the music video? in my opinion the music video is very deep and actually sad. the girl is picturing her parents as these llama "monsters" because of them fighting and the dad abusing the mom. she can't tell what's reality, and that's because of her witnessing that kind of stuff. she just want to have a "perfect" family like she saw on the cover of that magazine. she ends up trying to escape from all the madness and insanity going on in her life, but she just ends up being back at home. sooooooo calling the video "horrid" and "flaming garbage" is a pretty big understatement.... just my opinion.

Blank Space was number 1 here in Australia for quite some time. Style (which is my favourite Taylor Swift song to date), was alright in our charts.

But, I just didn't like Young and Menace. Now, The Last of the Real Ones is my fav on the album. Same with Church and HOLD ME TIGHT OR DONT. But I didn't enjoy Young and Menace so much.

At the time, Young And Menace didn't seem too bad but today I listened to the first 3 fob albums on a car ride and hearing it now just kinda makes me sad. Their early stuff was just so amazing and even srar and abap had their highlights. My expectations for Mania are so low now which is disappointing from such a talented band. (also I know Andy and Joe never really got the attention they deserve but now I swear I never hear from them or about them but maybe that's just me)

I liked it when I first listened to it. In fact I liked it so much that I had it on replay for days. But Young and Menace for me wasn’t too special, and it lost its significance very quickly. Now I would be fine listening to it, but I’d rather not. Of course I’m not hating on you for liking the song, don’t take it the wrong way.

I respect your opinion, but I almost died when Psycho came up. The solo on that is incredible, and Matt's falsetto is amazing. The bass is really interesting as well. I can see why people don't like it, though. Something feels off about it. It feels very over-produced and the lyrics are trash. The drill sergeant is annoying as hell too. It's basically filled with positives and negatives imo.

Hey ARTV, thanks for the great Video. I really do agree with your list, except with one of your picks: I am a huge Muse fan and I consider the Drones Album their weakest, too. However, I love Psycho and I think it's a great song by them. Although it doesn't really fit in their "usual" style, i still like this particular one on the record. Something like Mercy is far more disgusting, in my opinion.

I've never seen this channel and can honestly say I'll never watch it again. Good Riddance is the song of a generation. There is a reason it's still played today, and will continue to be played for years to come. It's an incredible song and something wholly unexpected from a band like Green Day when it came out. Oh, and no, it was never meant to be sarcastic. It was meant to be exactly what it is, a song about reflection and longing. If you can't handle the musical genius of that song, that's your problem, not Green Day's, and you aren't going to find many who will support you on that one.

Yeah, "Psycho" is my pick for Muse too. It was one of the first to come to mind even before I got to the point in the video where you mentioned it.

More for the music than the lyrics, but I didn't mind that the lyrics on that one were ridiculous because the song didn't take itself all that seriously to begin with. (I'm assuming we never got Side B of Trust Fall because they realized they had enough material that they might as well save it for an album, and it just ended up on 8.)

Unpopular opinion I actually really enjoyed "Young and Menace" because I think bands should have the right to switch up there music if they want to experiment. People always say that the new FOB is so bad compared to there old music, but that music for its time was popular but if they kept doing that kind of music, it probably wouldn't be as popular.
+Jake Pike who cares about popularity? They've had way more hits than most band, at least they could go out with dignity. I love bands experimenting, but this is the worst example of it. It's leaps and bounds ass backwards into a vast space of bullshit

I liked the song, but over time it became a bit boring to me. I still know literally all of the lyrics, and it's not like I really skip it or anything, but it definitely wasn't my favorite.

Good Riddance is one of my childhood songs. Sure it is overplayed, and when I wanted to do a song cover for my girlfriend's graduation, I sorta thought about doing Good Riddance but decided not to because with a title like "Good Riddance", I knew something wasn't right. But even at that, I still really like it the same way I like songs like "Let It Go" from Frozen or "I don't wanna miss a thing" by Aerosmith even though they're overplayed.
And as for Psycho, admittedly I'm not a fan of the Sargent part either, or the lyrics for that matter, but I still kinda like it for it's riff.

1. Oasis - All Around the World: in one word, this song is smothering. The production is dense as fuck and the chorus seems to go on forever. I actually wasn't minding Be Here Now the first time I listened to it until this came up.
2. Metallica - St. Anger: going for an easy target, this is grating as hell. The production is atrocious, the lyrics are laughably inane (madly in anger with you?), and the fast and hard, slow and soft song progression feels off here compared to other Metallica songs like One.
3. Linkin Park - The Messenger: I have never willingly listened to this song since the first time I heard A Thousand Suns. The production is basic, which ordinarily wouldn't qualify it for this list for me, but Chester screaming his lungs out over soft acoustic guitars is just unintentionally funny to me.
4. Avenged Sevenfold - Scream: I can't tell if this song is serious or a joke. The lyrics are ridiculously over the top, but the instrumentation is dark and ominous. Also, the guitar riff on the verses sounds awkward and unfinished.
5. Foo Fighters - Tired of You: this is a slow burn that never catches on fire. The instrumentation sounds like it's going to build up to something, but never does. Dave repeats the line "I'm not getting tired" a few times, but this song makes me tired with how dull it is. This song leaves so little impact that even though on my first full listen of One by One I had decided it was the worst song on the album, I only remembered it as "the boring one on One by One" and had to go back through the album to remember it.
6. Green Day - Brain Stew: Ironic that this is about insomnia, because it is sleep inducingly boring. Thank goodness it segways into Jaded.
7. Eyeshine - Uneven Halos: Uneven is a fitting name for this song. The backing vocals in this sound like they're mixed out of synch with each other and it gets grating fast.

Damn I just heard The Messenger and it is bad. ATS is the only LP album I haven't heard and it might as well stay that way after listening to the aforementioned song
