Man, I feel like I’m looking at a buffet of future episodes of Todd in the Shadows’ TrainWreckords series. In fact, at least two albums on here (The Clash and the Beach Boys) WERE episodes! Wonder what else he could do.
Sia's album is the one I'd put money on.
Me too! In fact, you never know! One of these albums just might make it soon considering how recent a lot of these entries are. He just did Katy Perry's Witness, and it feels like that album came out yesterday.
I feel like Forbidden, Translation, Revival, and Memories...Do Not Open would make for some truly interesting episodes. Todd pretty much has unlimited access to potential Trainwreckords albums.

The album at #3: "playdough cooked in tea" is a parody album of "A crow looked at me" by Mount Eerie, one of the most honest and heartbreaking albums ever written. Every track is called "my wife died" which is the real experience Phil Elverum went through which inspired the original album. I believe there's also a line suggesting Elverum made the album to profit off his wife's death.
Shit's just disrespectful at that point
Whoever responsible of that album deserves every disgrace possible on their life.
I'm glad someone else mentioned it because it got glossed over in this video (because Jon seems to be lucky enough to not know of this albums existence) but it's the only album on here that actively gets my blood boiling just by the existence of it. It's so tone deaf and insensitive. And whoever made it clearly has never experienced something as heartbreaking as the album that it parodies. I really wish I could go back to the time where I didn't know about the existence of Me&me

I still don't know how people pretended to like Dance Monkey for like 3 months in the first place. I hated that song when it first came on the radio. So many better Aussie artists than Tones and I.

So… about that album at number 3. I noticed the cover and was confused because it looked like the cover of one of my favorite albums, A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie.
If you’ve never heard of it, Phil Elverum of The Microphones fame had a solo project called Mount Eerie. A Crow Looked at Me was a very honest and personal album about him grieving over the death of his wife.
Apparently the one on the list was a parody album with a bunch of 30 second lo fi folk sounding songs with the singer continually singing “my wife is dead.” Just comes off as hateful and insensitive to me. Especially if you’ve heard the original album.
The 86th album (Juliette, 6:01) is from a girl with this name who won the 2021 edition of Big Brother Brazil (witch is EXTREMELY popular here), and then with her fame she released an EP some months ago. I suppose she is in this list more as a meme than actually the music itself, witch in my opinion is not that good

i remember when this happened, the score is so low because it was immediantly spammed with bots and was the highest rated album of 2021 for a day or two, the only other scores besides the bots were people giving it zeroes, and eventually the admins came and wiped out all the bots, leaving only the super negative scores

I was so confused by "Playdough cooked in tea" because it looked just like the already obscure (I think) album "A Crow Looked at Me" by Mount Eerie. I went to do some research and it's a distasteful parody of "A Crow Looked at me" I barely other people knew about to begin with.

I understand seeing Marshmello here although I used to be a huge Marshmello fan and I remember naming my cat after him some years ago and uhhh I feel some connection for the music video for Happier so I can’t hate on him too much.

That Daddy album by Tom Sawyer is a "Comedy Rap" album that basically consists of him repeating the title of the song over and over again throughout the entire track with stolen unchanged instrumentals to different songs like Thotiana by Blueface and a song from the Harry Potter movie score. THAT'S BASICALLY IT. THAT'S LITERALLY THE WHOLE ALBUM. It's one of the worst albums from the 2010's decade that I've heard.
It brings me so much joy seeing AJR, Tones And I, and Lil Dicky on this list. But there is no way that _Father of All..._ deserves to be ranked worse than _Results May Vary_ or a Walker Hayes album!
It's not Green Day's best work by a long shot, but it had at least a couple of solid tracks on it. Definitely not the worst thing I've heard.
They should have had the following two AJR albums on here. I remember they constantly played 100 Bad Days, Dear Winter, Bang, and Way Less Sad on alternative radio. All of these are singles from those two albums and they're all trash!

Before I even watch… the worst album ever recorded is easily Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. If it doesn’t make the list, I’ll be thoroughly disappointed.

MC&HDP is bad, but it’s not the worst thing ever recorded. It could be muchh worse. Look at Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music, which is considered by many to be the worst album ever. It’s over an hour of the most unplesant sounding mechanical and static noise with no lyrics. Dude basically created PC music/hyperpop in the 70s with the album

I've unfortunately heard that John & Yoko atrocity only because I'm nearing 50 years old. My uncle had this record and I tapped out at the 20 second mark of the first "track" on side one. It's THAT BAD.
Spooky sounds is literally what the name says. Trippie just makes ghost and monster noises pretty much. It's like if you just searched on TH-cam for generic sound effects for a Halloween party. No clue why he made that other then increase streams.

Lol yes! I only heard it once and never put it on again. Bad on every level! (What they should have done was return to their 80s roots and make a straight up hardcore punk album. Kinda like in the style of Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, and all those other highly revered underground punk bands. However, it probably wouldn't have made them a lot of money if they did.)
Imo not even close to as bad as Imagine Dragons’s Evolve, Fall Out Boy’s Mania, and AJR’s OK Orchestra (I haven’t heard their other albums in full - and likely never will)
FOAMF is Green Day’s worst imo but still has enough good moments on it to avoid “bad album” status.

One thing I noticed was that most of these were from the 2000s onward. I guess that's probably because of the average age of the users on the site.
It'd be interesting to see a worst of all time list that took every decade of music into account though.
One reason for this is that back in the day, you had to actually pay for studio time to get an album done. So you had to make sure you had something worth putting on an album before spending that money on recording it. Now, anyone can record with all the technology. So basically, since the cost is minimal, there's no "quality control" on what people are putting out.

I havens heard Me&Me's Playdough Cooked In Tea (at no.3) and I could be way off base by saying this about something I've never heard but... the cover and title alone are a parody of Mount Eerie's A Crow Looked At Me, which was a totally unfiltered, gut-wrenching album about Mount Eerie's sole member Phil Elvrum's wife's passing from cancer. That alone is in VERY poor taste.
In defense of Eminem’s Revival, it ends with two really good tracks.

I would have rather seen Fall Out Boy’s Mania on that spot instead. I can still listen to FOAMF start to finish easily, but Mania’s got quite a few skippables.

It's probably the worst in their discography. I never heard it, but I remember hearing that it has rapping (a few years before nu metal became mainstream.)
CallMeCarson is very problematic in terms of the internet lifespan.
I'm familiar with that Submarine Man artist. While I didn't listen to the album I've heard his work before. He's pretty bad. To put it in perspective, he's essentially a Comedy/Meme Rapper who does parodies and original songs only the whole joke is his lyrics are feet related. Like smelling feet, stepping on, hating stockings and socks, and other stuff like that all in an overly autotuned voice. That's literally his whole entire thing. I honestly can't make this crap up even if I tried.

I actually kinda disagree with Marshmello Shockwave at 65. I really enjoyed that album (basically it's Marshmello doing hip-house and dubstep.) I think it works but I can kinda see why someone wouldn't like it.

It was on another list Jon reacted to in 2019 of worst albums of the 2010s decade. While I think it has its moments, it’s just another one of those many pop/electropop albums put out by alt rock bands in the mid-late 2010s that let fans down.

If I remember correctly Jon has been more positive towards Collide Comatose and Awake he has issues with them but he's been more positive with Skillet when it comes to those 3 albums

@@solekman916 yeah I gotta agree with you, collide was incredible other than track four (the song is called a little more, way too slow for my liking and that outro drags forever), comatose was a good album and has a few great songs I can say the same for awake and rise they have a few great songs but the albums as a whole are a tiny step down from comatose but after rise skillet just isn’t as good anymore.. unleashed had a few good songs (back from the dead, I want to live, out of hell, burn it down and the resistance) and Victorius had a mix of good arguably great songs (victorious, reach, never going back, save me, back to life) and some of the worst tracks skillets ever released like the god awful finish line and this is the kingdom that really dragged this album down, I can say the exact thing for dominion except dominions another step down and that closer is just terrible
If you’re curious I do still like a few songs on dominion (standing in the storm, dominion, beyond incredible) but other than those three songs dominion was really bad and generic and skillet please switch it up on the next album you legit gave us a worse version of victorious, what were y’all doing for three years

The only Coldplay album that even remotely would deserve to be here is Music Of The Spheres.
In Imagine Dragons' case they have a mixed bag of a discography. Evolve, Origins and Mercury Act 2 are bad and I wouldn't mind seeing them here. I do think Night Visions and Mercury Act 1 are fine though and Smoke + Mirrors is actually good.

I looked it up: turns out the Annoying Orange has a web series that's still releasing episodes every week, even into 2022. No, I won't watch any of it. I remember when it was somewhat big, and... well, it's truth in advertising, that's for sure.
when I saw Shadow Work so low, I was wondering how the hell you get worse than that... then I was confused when I thought that A Crow Looked at Me was at #3. which, obviously, makes no sense as it might be one of the most disarming, thoughtful albums of all time. but then as you scrolled up, I saw that its album art wasn't A Crow Looked at Me, that the title sounded like someone mocking it, and looked at the comments for confirmation. I hope Phil's never seen that turd--what an awful thing to do. it's disrespectful to Phil, music as an artform, everyone who found solace in A Crow Looked at Me, but most importantly disrespectful to the memory of Geneviève Castrée. that deserves to be higher than any Tom MacDonald album--how the hell do you look at someone's expression of grief over their spouse literally fucking dying or moments like "Seaweed" (in which Phil mourns the little details about his late wife, Geneviève, which he struggles to remember after her passing), and see those as anything but the most honest depictions of grief? not only that, but to be so self-righteous to think that you know it for certain enough that you are willing to risk causing incredible pain to the Elverum family for the crime of Phil mourning his wife of more than a decade. I don't know if Phil feels that making music is a healing process for him, but if he does, that's just punishing the guy for grieving in a way that helps him. I want to throw something at whatever diabolical clown made that parody album. abysmal behavior from anyone, and only possibly forgivable if they were an edgy teenage asswipe, but I really fucking doubt that.

Just checked the top 200 worst albums on AOTY two years after this video: A number of the albums seen in this video are no longer even in the top 200. Also, it's amazing just how many of the albums there now in 2024 are likely the result of Brad Taste in Music finding and reviewing them. Also most of the top 20 now is just Tom MacDonald and Banana Man.

I don’t remember MCID and Father of Al…but there are way worse albums that deserve to be on here. And fun fact, I saw Theory back in December, they only played two songs from Say Nothing. I like their early stuff as a guilty pleasure, but yeah they album was cringe.

My former favorite youtuber once made a video about his biggest musical letdowns and talked about the Two Virgins album from John & Yoko in his Number 1 segment and played a clip from it... it is to this day the worst thing I've ever heard. A big reason I dislike Yoko Ono is because of how her avant-garde sensibilities were rubbing off on John. Not only was that the reason Revolution 9 became a thing, but it also gave us this album. If you don't like Revolution 9, you will hate that album.

If Black Sabbath made it on the list, then Morbid Angel deserves to be on the list as well. Their 2011 album I cannot name and don't care to tell you the title sucks big time. Go to Thralls of Metal Morbid Angel Albums Ranked and see what they say about that album.
I am an executive producer on Swans - To Be Kind. I paid Mike Gira $500 for it but didn't twist a single knob. DJ Kahlid has even less talent than originally assumed.
For people to put Tom MacDonald's stuff as one of the worst albums of all time is to truly, actually show that you have one of the most biased lists politically, of all time, because that's the whole Point.

Their lyrics are kinda dumb, yeah. But I don’t think that’s inherently bad. “Don’t Throw Out My Legos”, “The Entertainment’s Here”, and “Adventure is Out There” have really stupid lyrics on first listen. However, they kinda showcase what I like about the band.
They don’t have great lyrics, but I like what they want to say. They’re rather simple despite their bombastic style. Their songs are about minor concerns and stuff people don’t really bother saying, despite thinking about a lot. They’re about strong emotions and everyday concerns, but people might have trouble connecting to due to the way they handle it. “Netflix Trip” is a really infamous example. It’s a nice idea to associate something you grow up with (a tv show) to your youth. It’s just that choosing the Office (or even naming a show at all) kinda makes the point moot.
If you want my opinion:
- The Room is bad/trashy, at least as far I sat through.
- The Click is interesting and stylistic, if not a pretty obvious new step that needed a ton of refinement. Though some of the songs I really like.
- Neotheater is a pretty good evolution of the Click. Slightly less variety, but the sound is more clear cut and goes well together, along with having an pretty soft hearted finale.
- Ok Orchestra is a bit strange in parts, but is pretty arguably the best album by them yet. Their style is even more refined, it feels a bit less samey in regards to topics (though a little less varied than the Click, for better or worse). It also feels a bit more heartfelt in a few smaller ways.
