WOW this is a VERY pleasant surprize! The Valiant from the comics!!!. The one on the show deviated a bit from this one and was younger. man I wish they had put Doc savage , the shadow and rocketeer too!
Doc Savage and The Shadow are owned by different companies not King Features Syndicate and the Rocketeer came out in 1982 six years before Defenders of The Earth.
From the members of Valiant's cast present and the time frame it may be set in, I think this comes after the Orignial Prince Valiant cartoon that is on this YT Channel. This work as a perfect epilogue to the 65 episodes of Valiant's series, even if they have someone else voice our Prince. This also kind of help make this work as kind of a connection like a lot of series from the "DC Animated Universe", I.e. Batman and Superman the Animated Series, Justice League, JL Unlimited, Batman Beyond. Here is a fan timeline I think works. The Legend of Prince Valiant Filmation Flash Gordon Defenders of the Earth The Phantom 2040 There isn't much to contradict these series going together, even though they were made by different studios and in different decades. Still fun to piece a few series together and possibly fan fiction some in-between filler storylines to bridge the gaps.
I would reverse Defenders and Phantom. Phantom 2040 is the 23rd Phantom but according to the Defenders Of The Earth closing credits this is the 27th Phantom.
@@ShadowWingTronix it is not a perfect fit but DOE has to come before Phantom 2040 since DOE is set in the 1980's. There is a lot of super science but most of that is alien tech. Plus these were all made by different studios in different decades but there is enough core story to (kind of) patch them together. Small details like 2040 being the 23rd Phantom while DOE is the 27th can be mostly ignored or even considered reversed by retcon in the present day. All of these shows are based on 4 different newspaper comics from way back that had nothing to do with each other and yet enough care was done with source material that this could be (almost) 1 canon. The 90's Flash Gordon Cartoon is the only outlier in this franchise but that can probably be labeled as a parallel universe to the 80's Filmation Flash Gordon series. Like the Peter Parker Marvel Universe and the Miles Morales Marvel Universe.
@@FebMon According to some online sources (including a few posts on this channel) the show takes place in 2015, but that's still before 2040. Another issue is the "ten tigers" ability this Phantom has, which wasn't an actual superpower in the strips, just a reflection of how strong the Phantom was supposed to be according to legend. You have to also explain why Ming has a son now and both them and Aura have green skin. I don't think the details match up all that well.

Does anyone release an intriguing thing in this crossover it is Mandrake and Merlin are sometimes thought to be related or more interestingly Valiant has a descended and it is believed to be Flash Gordon, Valiant is a great great great uncle of Flash Gordon on his motherside of the family. And Merlin is an ancestor of Mandrake a link in a mystical way through his granddaughter father's relationship with a bond through magic. Merlin is a sort of great great great cousin. And some stories say Mandrake is known by another name Merlin.
The show should have adapted to the original story or this to the original Prince Valiant animated series whichever came first now it feels very disconnected
@@patrikbengtsson3883 That is a shame then again maybe the Prince Valiant show should maybe have been like this version of Prince Valiant it matches the original comic better.
I loved Prince Valiant as a kid but haven't thought of him in decades. Thanks so much for posting this episode! 🙂👍
You are most welcome! Check out the other series on our channel!
@@ComicsKingdomOfficial 🙂👍
@@shibolinemress8913 Do you think Valiant named his son after his old friend?
I like it more his own animated series "The Legend Of Prince Valiant" 1991.
Wow!! A cross-over with Prince Valiant! Neat! I still read his strip every Sunday,
Out of curiosity is there real magic in it or is it relatively grounded?
Because the tv series was relatively grounded when compared to this.

Poor Mandrake sure took one for the team this episode.

Funny there's no "Prince Valiant created by Hal Foster" credit at the end of the episode, but Alex Raymond and Lee Falk are credited.

They were not allowed to feature magic directly, just like in a certain Animesque Western Animation series that Warner Bros produced for Fox Kids.
