As a normal if I thought I would make curry within the month I would buy a jar of curry paste and if I use it all before tbe month then id cross curry off my list of meals and move to other meals. Changing my ingredients list as I go to accommodate my needs and wants. Again id agree they technically did fail and barry was a bit of a knocked for not writing down the price, but tbh I feel everyone goes out of budget on food and for only 40 cents or pence more id say they're still in the clear

Don't really see why that is allowed, but they are complaining about buying each spoon from a pot separately.

    Similar to the gadget version, at the end of a turn you can pick ingredients for the next person. You are not allowed to use ingredients you picked yourself, just what has been left for you. The person going last will pick the ingredients at the beginning for the first person. The amount of ingredients you can pick goes down. 5,4,3,2,1 for each round of picking. All ingredients have t be used. It is slightly more complicated but should be fun. It represent that you need to cook with whatever you have left in your fridge.

    Idea for a theme : Three course meal where everyone gets to go twice for 10 or 15 minutes whichever you feel is more fair time wise.
    Order : person who goes first is up to you and the person who follows them is picked by the person who last went, not everyone has to be picked before someone goes twice but you cannot pick yourself to go two times in a row.

    I'd still say it was a pass. Budgets are not exact to the penny. And where a few are saved in a previous meal, you can add to another. 30p is well within that flexible amount.

    • @darkamora5123
      @darkamora5123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you went to the shop with £10 you can't walk away with anything more than that amount of product. Their pantry items account for that flexible carryover from previous meals, Janice's Deli is the shop that they can't exceed that £10 figure at. That is a default fail in that you wouldn't have had the ingredient you used to make the dish, anything after is essentially a dream "I wish I had 30p more to spend." 😴💭

    • @jacobheeaton6348
      @jacobheeaton6348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      if he went to the shop jamie would've been paying for the entire jar of curry paste instead of the 2 portions he actually paid for, so it would've been fine

    • @darkamora5123
      @darkamora5123 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jacobheeaton6348 it is my understanding that there are still places in the UK (however rare) that one might be able to purchase individual servings of ingredients. From a fishmonger, or green grocer to honest to God cut meat to order butcher, to boulangerie, or ethnic herb shop one could (with effort) find a shop to cater to such things. Regardless of the normal quantities sold in a shop though, you can't walk out with more than you have a means of paying for. Exceed that figure and use the ingredient you couldn't afford and you failed. Easy to understand.
      Tell your significant other you are treating them to a £100 meal, then go out with £10 and see if they think your date is a failure or no. They might have had that food, but that won't be a fun scene.

    • @jacobheeaton6348

      @@jacobheeaton6348 if you can point me to a place where I can go in and purchase a jar of curry paste for 30p I will be very impressed as well. This isn't even "he said she said", this is Barry reading "Curry Paste; 30p" and thinking to himself "Ohhh yeah an entire jar of curry paste for 30p, that makes sense.".
      Completely defeats the point of the challenge as well. If every single item in the Deli is priced like it would in the grocery store (i.e 4 pounds for 10 slices of cheese) a 10 pound mid-week lunch pass it on wouldn't even have them be able to make a ham grilled cheese.
      On the other end it's equally dumb. If they're paying portion prices for whole items their "$10 pound budget pass it on" would've actually had them slam down 150 pounds at the store.

    Oh, it's been a while since a recipe relay.
    I have an idea for a future recipe relay, remember those chef controling normals or normals controling chefs? How about yall do a recipe relay like that. Basically the person is controlled by whoever is next, and the person controlled aren't allowed to say or give hints to the controller.
    Jamie as first is controlled by ben as 2nd, ben knows what he wants to make but jamie is just following his commands, then barry controls ben, ben can't tell what hes making, barry has to figure it out himself. So the controller doesn't know what the previous controller plans to do, 1st controls 5th.
