This was a really enjoyable session exploring different rivers and trying a new style of fishing ! The video was filmed before the close of trout season. Additionally when I say out of season grayling I mean for that particular stretch. I also don’t wish to publicly advertise the stretches fished in the video. Enjoying the rod race ? Why not grab some winter merch ⬇️ westysangling.co.uk/collections/signature-clothing?_pos=1&_psq=mercg&_ss=e&_v=1.0
For someone that has never trotted on a river, you did fantastic pal 👍 it's not as easy as it looks so full kudos to you and well done on all the different species of fish you caught 👍👌🏼💪👊🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
Hiya, you really looked like you enjoyed the day. Nice little fish, some people call it real fishing, I done it as a kid 60 odd years ago, these days I prefer the lake fishing. It might be an age thing.🎣 Anyway you enjoyed the day & I enjoyed your 4th day.
Have you crowdfunded the Ulyimate rod race with Matt Hayes & Mick Brown ? £20 gets you an early pass to see extended editions of a six part series. You are Right to keep locations a bit secret or everyone will be visiting the locations Thought you would splash out with the Korum wading vest/gilet for your trotting 🙂 The holding back stopping the float causes the bait to rise and fall in the water causes more bites great session though
Hi Matt, the Northern way is to have the line coming off the top so it's parallel with the rod rings, I've done trotting for many years & could never get used to winding the wrong way (for me) if that makes sense ? It's also much easier when "Batting In" on the retrieve. Think YOU would also get on better that way as well. just a matter of taking the line off and putting it back on the other way round. 🎣 Also, trotting with a Maggot bag round your neck is much easier to loose feed from.
Hey Westy been watching lots of your videos and got into fish again because of it, I know you said you are going to look at further afield. Have you ever looked at Broadlands lakes in Hampshire? Meant to have some chunks there
Well done on your first trotting session. You picked some narly water at first but once you found some steadier water you smashed it. Where on the Ribble did you end up?
I fancy a method feeding sessions tomorrow. Any Suggestions in wigan? I fished the horseshoe at wrightington the other day. Someone suggested fishing the other lake or the canal there.
@PaulsWest Thanks for that. I went yesterday, but there was a match on Rivington View, so went back on horseshoe. Had a couple of small bream, couple of small, but weirdly strong tench and a common. I'll try again next week 👍
Hi Westy I am a recent subscriber to your channel. I am a barbel angler but am gonna have a go at feeder fishing on commercials and bigger waters. Got the gear but want to know from you will you tell me what wafter from which company ( not including your own) colour and size would you recommend for being a good all rounder whatever the weather to use in commercials for carp etc

Well done Westy. We'll make a float angler out of you yet. Id hazard a guess that you were on the Ribble on or around Ribchester?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
Well done on your first trotting session. You picked some narly water at first but once you found some steadier water you smashed it.
Where on the Ribble did you end up?
8 Dace a week, not my favourite but still a good song lol 👍
Hiya I’m just wanting to know what is the best feeder and Bollie sent
Having to shot the line is why I don't bother float fishing ! I'm too ham fisted .
I fancy a method feeding sessions tomorrow. Any Suggestions in wigan? I fished the horseshoe at wrightington the other day. Someone suggested fishing the other lake or the canal there.
Fish the Rivington view lake. 1/2 way down L/H side opp point of island. Fish across and in the margins. 👍

Why not my own? Sonubaits washed out pink and chocolate orange 6/8mm or mainline match white cell 8mm
Iv got that same belt it’s alright for the money isn’t it
Decent buddy yes 👌🏻
Tiny size 6 shot that made me laugh....try putting on a size 12 stot on a pole rig
Typical condescending matchman
@@JohnBall-gw8cl never fished a match in my life m8 it's called a sense of humour you shud try it some time
Its a joke that every inch of thos country in privately owned. I hope youre gonna do some Ribble River fishing.
We have no freedom in England, just rules and regulations
Loving the rod race what part of the ribbel were you fishing?
Im sure he doesn’t want to advertise the stretches publicly or he would have said
Literally said he doesn’t want to disclose exact locations, you have legs and google mate go and look
