- Trotting For Grayling | Centrepin Fishing
Today’s session was filmed on the River Ribble in search of some late Autumn Grayling. We will be trotting for them using maggots as bait equipped with my @korumFishing Glide setup and Centrepin reel. These (sometimes elusive) fish can be difficult to target, but are superb sport on light tackle.
The video includes a run through of both my tackle and setup for today’s session as well as some tactics. What a session it turned out to be! With around 25 Grayling landed on the day.
As always grab a brew or a beer and enjoy the session 🎣🎬

That other fisherman is going to be FUMING! 🎣
Of course it was (mostly) skill ! Nice video ,nice change from method feeders, keep them coming.
Cracking video westy keep em coming
Well in Westy, looked more rewarding than a commercial feeder sesh
Eh' up Westy, great Grayling copping mate, Maybe always keep one of them floats with the top coloured in with a Permanent Black marker in reserve in case the light conditions change to overcast.
Good idea ! 🎣👍🏻
Decent male grayling ace 👍
Never caught a grayling, but it is on my fishing bucket list! You could easily have fly fished for those grayling!
If you haven’t caught a grayling how would you know ? Nothing easy about fly fishing. Much better to trot on maggots for them
@JohnBall-gw8cl I've been a fly fisherman most of my life in Canada. Mostly for salmon and trout. Live here again now in retirement. Plenty of grayling caught on the fly in rivers which hold them.
Lady of the stream, beautiful fish. 👍
Hiya, I dont go river fishing but that looked such fun & a really nice setting. You caught some lovely fish well done, a little luck but mostly skill. Have a good one.
It’s a lovely stretch of river Barry, no doubt about that. I have really started to enjoy trotting with the centrepin. Makes a nice change from the feeder fishing 🎣
Really enjoyed this video. A fantastic diversification from mixed coarse on still waters. Would enjoy you at the same spot on the fly rod, trotting a dry or buzzer and then a good old maggot. Worked for me in the past and great fun to watch.😅
That was a Salmon Par not a Trout but envious as now to old to do the sort of fishing which I did enjoy above everything else!
I knew it looked odd for a brown trout, so I did some digging when I got in realised what it was. PB salmon for me ! I’m sorry to hear that buddy but butter safe than sorry. River fishing is traitorous … that’s one of the reasons I make the videos hopefully you get some joy out of them 👍🏻🎣
Im bagging up on grayling on the river wear had a huge specimen female in on the feeder 4 maggots i was up yesterday morning on the feeder had an average 12oz female again on 4 maggots and a size 16 hook using a small 30grm maggot feeder all im catching is females but as long as im catching shows the river is doing well.
I might have missed it, but any idea of the approximate cost of your centrepin. 'Cos I know that it costs a few pennies for a decent one..... 💸
tidd.ly/3ADQ3nr not a bad price compared to some 👌🏻
Yeah, OK, derr .... I've just noticed that you put a link to the reel in the description..... 😝
Yup, good price....
What line do you use when trotting ???
6lb Daiwa sensor streight through !
Thanks Mat .
Put it down to fishing skill pal 👍😁
👀 the confidence you guys have in me is mind boggling 😂💪🏻🎣
Cracking vid great grayling
