    I am absolutely with you on the keyring removal. I didn't mod the blade but removed the can opener and reshaped the small screwdriver on the end , it now is a much more useful screwdriver and works as a Phillips , the can openeris now superslick (video on how it now works as a redesigned can opener) video: victorinox explorer, huntsman, farmer, climber, screwdriver can opener mod , if you are interested. You made short work of that mods .great job .

    If you are anything like me you will grow to love that saw. I carry a Farmer and the saw is used as much or more than the blade. I also carry a Vic. Ranger and it has an even longer saw that really gets a lot of use.

      you know I have had that knife in my pocket now for a couple months, and im not sure that I have used the saw yet. I was planning on taking cuttings from any interesting fruit trees that I came across in the hopes of rooting or grafting them, but havent run across any yet. but I do like it, and when kept sharp it is a pretty impressive saw for its size :}

      @@joecalton1449 The longer you have it the more you will use it kind of one of those tools that you learn uses for as you go along.

    I used to take apart several Vic. on the same frame and then put together the features I wanted they are very easy knives to mix and match with.

    Modifying a knife or anything to suit your needs is awesome. I reshaped the blades on all of my SAKs to get rid of the sharpening choil. I cut a lot of cord and tie line and they always get hung up on the choil so eliminating it makes it a more effective tool for me.

    nice video.
    the keyring may be useful if you want to wear the tool like a dogtag. i do this sometime when i cant access my pockets, at work, carrying a belt with a radiocontrol of a crane.or when the weather is changing every day and i want to be sure i dont forget my tool in different clothes.

    Nothing wrong with taking a file to a knife. I have a box full of knives from packing plant and they all need to be shortened unless you want a shank. I also cheat and use a flap wheel on the cordless grinder from time to time 😉🥃

    Nice vid Joe. I Sharpen my whittling blades as you do but strop on Autosol then green compound to finish. The cutting edge just floats through basswood like its not even there. ATB.

    Funny that you also modify the small pen blade. I have mine very similar - I left the first 2/5 of the edge (towards the handle) as it was and then went straight to meet the point. A bit like a drop-point wharncliffe tanto (osoraku zukuri) hybrid, if that makes sense.

    I am amazed at how fast that bastard file reshaped that blade. In skilled hands of course. Thanks for the video Joe. Hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy.

      a big part of that is the vice, a good heavy vice thats solidly mounted to a very heavy bench thats mounted to the wall and doesnt let anything move except what you want to move makes work go much faster :} we are all safe and healthy with plenty of work to do here, and hope the same for you and yours also my friend :}

    You can sharpen the saw just by working both flats on either side a little on a relatively flat stone

    The pocket knife is a tool, so I agree with adjusting or modding it to suit one's needs. That was quick and easy. Thanks for the video, Joe.
    One of the features I like about the Leatherman Wave I've carried daily for 30+ years is the blade locks. Am I fooling myself about being "safer" than a slip-joint?

      i have always treated a folding knife with a lock the same as a folding knife without a lock when I could. sort of like I drive a car the same when wearing a seatbelt as when not. they are both safety's and you hope you never need them, but if you do, they might make things easer on you.

      @@joecalton1449 Thanks for your reply, which makes perfect sense to me. The safety is in the mindset of the user - stupid gets you hurt.

    Wow....I was surprised how fast the blade disappeared with the file, Then how fast the bevel was done with that stone.

    Fun video. I did the same surgery on my Tinker (that sounds bad) the next day. Took me an hour but I do like the result. Do you see any utility to sharpening up the edges of the flat head screwdriver?
