Not many people (good skaters) are able to explain this well or are willing to share their secret techniques! Thanks for all your efforts and being kind Bill. You are a gem! 👍
bill you make it seem so easy..it wasnt until i tried it than i realized this guy is been skating for what 30 or more years..i can say im done with the painful part now lol..you are my inspiration.. working hard to one day maybe match your skills..I wanna be able to skate with that much ease and fluency..
would like to see you teaching like 3 or 4 or ten students that were tied to the heal brake to do a power slide. Otherwise it's all just theoretical stuff for folks to go out and teach themselves. Keep bringing it Bill, you're an inspiration.
thanks for the video. this stop works for me because of my bad left knee. torn ligaments several time since i was a kid. not much side pressure on it so more ideal to stop this way.
Talk about in line skating is talk about bill stoppard. I like how this Channel is getting better in every video. I like that now you are teachin useful tecniques. Actually i've noticed i have imporoved my english listening skills!!
True lunges do work in this exercise also the leg press, my buddy and I trained at the gym for this.Cool and informative vid as always, got some helpful tips thanks bill👍✌ 🤘
“Skate fast. Stop hard. Don’t forget to do your lunges kiddies.” Skate Council of Planet Earth approved. Great video Bill! This makes me want to go for a roll around town...at 1AM...
This is the motivation I need to start drilling some things again - been taking it easy and just skating around lately... but I guess nothing wrong with that either... better than no wheels at all!
Thanks for your GREAT teaching videos. They really help me allot. Now, though; this works really well on that kind of surface, smooth as silk of course for teaching. I would not think much harder to execute on rough roads where you need it the most because that lead leg turning under as the skate does not slide and wheels catch on the rough surface. A great way to practice new techniques I have found is use a pair of hiking sticks to keep you upright till you have the technique down and gradually increase till you do it without the extra support.
Thanks G, but you're wrong about powerslides on rough streets, it works even better when there is texture to grip. This technique is not about sliding it's about stopping.
@@BillStoppard Thanks that makes sense ! My thinking was more that the angle of that front leg (th-cam.com/video/ytUfXp0Wnvg/w-d-xo.html) has to be really deep cut to keep it from getting turned under at the ankle on rough roads (maybe spraining or breaking the ankle.) On another note, thanks for the alternating t-slowing you teach. Many do not teach it that way and the alternating made a huge difference in being able to execute without wearing down on a long steep descent. Thanks again !
I love the powerslide stop. It looks like a superhero arriving to stop crime. I think you should do it dressed in a Batman costume for Halloween. I know you're about skills for serious inline skaters, but maybe just for Halloween you could do a tutorial for total beginners: how to stand up, push sideways and stop. I tell my daughter I don't believe in superheroes, but if I watch you inline skating dressed as Batman on the streets of Toronto I'll have proof of the contrary. I'll be obliged to believe otherwise!
Thanks so much for this. You said (I) should get it within a week of daily practice. How many hours a day of daily practice? And I could I expect my power slides to look like in a week?
I believe a large portion of Power Stopping or Powerslide is the strength you posses in your legs. Because your ability to "tear rubber" is caused by the power generated by your leg muscles.
The problem is that some surfaces don’t slide as well as others. And some wheels are way more grippy. Especially when they are new. So if you try a powerslide on one surface and get it down pretty well, you try the same power and technique on another surface and eat shit.

The powerslide is not my favorite way to stop but a cool one when you are having fun, thank you Bill!
It's time to put my pads back on, I'm going to work on this asap!
You are a genius broller , thank you!
Like a good wine your tutorials just keep getting better with time!!!!! Not that i drink lol, keep up the awsome content!!!!!

Being practicing this some days ago with this content lot more knowledge to put on practice! thanks a lot
Thank you so much! I'd been waiting for an update on this :)
Powerslide got additional benefit of looking and sounding cool. It is head turner even though it is relatively simple thing to do ;)
Bill. Some really good advice I was told when trying to initiate a Powerslide Is belly into thy.

Yeah me too. It is 12:49 AM. I live in US, not Canada. But this makes me want to go outside and sk8.

Great advice

I’m actually able to do this now!!! I haven’t been getting low enough, now I just need to go straight instead of slightly turning every time
Thank you so much ❤

hows your back? did you change the way you skate as an adaptation for your back pain?
Thanks Bill. What's your wheel's specifications please because mine barely slide and I have to go very deep angle
cheers from argentina
Bill, review the Roces X35 110 3 wheel skates please.
Will I be able to do this with 82A wheels? Or does it depend on the surface?
I would like to see all the answers here. It probably depends on how much you practice and your, (or my) skill level.
The harder the wheel more slide, the 82a gives you more grip and it will wear out very fast. Now I'm using 85a
I used to live right on the street next to the skating rink, I learned ice skate there. How come I never met you?
Because he doesn’t exist, bruv. This is a simulation. Wake up.
How do u do the pivot
The problem is that some surfaces don’t slide as well as others. And some wheels are way more grippy. Especially when they are new. So if you try a powerslide on one surface and get it down pretty well, you try the same power and technique on another surface and eat shit.
This.cool
so am I the only person to actually say I get a bit scared when practicing this!
👌👏👍
How do you rotate your wheels?
You take them off, flip them over, maybe move them from back to front and front to back for good measure, put them back on the skate.
@@J.E.Sunseri hmm, good idea. Thanks.
👏👏👏🇧🇫💖
skate fast. stop hard.
