Outyards: Selecting Good Apiary Sites

- Wintertime is proving to be a tough time to make content for me. I made this video twice, and never did get it to come off the way I wanted.
Nevertheless this is what I have going on this time of year. It’s pretty specific info for my area, but I still hope most of you can find some useful information in it. I plan to revisit this topic.
With that said, this is an excellent time of year to scout for new outyards. In this video I'm showing some land features that i look for when scouting, and what I look for before setting up a new apiary site.

Like this I do urban bee farming . Site and even ultra site specifically huge different.
Thanks for the information on this Gus I added another yard this year an will probably add one more this year . What kind of rain fall do you usually get in a year ?? . Here in NC I THINK OUR YEARLY AVERAGE IS AROUND 46” not bad but not great . Have a Merry Merry Christmas. THANKS

Around those wet lands is there hazel alder present there? I thought i saw some at one point in the video. It is common here in n.w. alabama in wet areas and seems to be the very first reliable pollen source in my area. Usually blooms between jan 20th and feb 9th depending on the weather.
Hazel alder one of our first pollen's here in Michigan can have snow still on the ground and it's heavy.. we have whole valley of it up stream. Thought about collecting it and saving it add it to sub could shake bucket full pretty quick.

I started the process of looking into manufacturing, but right now it’s just not a good fit
Access ain't that the truth.. took me and my son 3 weeks to get my truck out of hay field last spring.. couldn't even get tractor in there just made a mess sunk worse than the truck did .. finally winter came back we took handyman bumper jack got it jacked up bunch of 2+10 under and waited for the ground to freeze.. drove it right out no problem .. glad we didn't bring in the big tractor it done way to much damage... For the farmer to stew on ..
