Just come across your channel and some useful info in your vids mate. Welcome to HCA! I'm berthed on opposite pontoon to you so will pop and say hello when you get your new boat. Assuming you'll be staying :-)
Hi Dave, Iam considering updating my cockpit upholstery on my Broom 29, could you give me a ballpark figure with respect to your upholstery costs ? and would you recommend the upholstery company you used.
I used silvertex pilata i believe it is for the covers, all in it cost me £1500 for the entire boat. If that sounds cheap it is, I wasn't in a rush indeed it was over 6 months from stripping it all to getting it back to fit. The company I used aren't boat specialists and won't come to the boat to measure etc i had to take everything to them which means that there's little bits that interfere with the refitting the top bolster on the drivers seat he'd cut a length of wood inside too long we had to take it back to him to be trimmed after i could measure in place etc. So in summary it works and the finish is great, but be prepared for a long wait and a lot of back and forth, but if you don't want to pay the £5k+ quoted by boat specialists its a valid route just more effort.
So impressed that you do so much yourelf! I wish you were located down south - I'd honestly pay you to help me on mine. BTW - have you decided to keep her now? I thought you were selling Sally Jane? Cheers!
Haha believe it or not (considering how much time I do spend faffing around on the boat) I do actually have a full time job too :) She is technically sold, she had a survey at the weekend her new owner is happy to go ahead I just want to finish a few more jobs off then we'll arrange for her to be shipped down and complete the deal.
No, she's found her new home now there's still some other work outstanding to be done before I let her go though. I need to finish giving her a proper good clean ready for the season and I've clobbered one of the props pretty well which her new owner will be getting repaired but I'm going to cover the bill for as I've clearly hit something.
Hi Dave, thank's for sharing your boat life....cheers from Portugal you rock man👍
Glad you enjoy it
