Being bait for my team and diverting attention was definitely something I realized by myself fortunately. I noticed a lot of people hate Hammond because most people are not aggressive at all and don't fulfil their tank role appropriately by using the hook and pile drive. My advice was always saying if your hook and pile drive are cooled down and you're not in a ball you're wasting your time. Use them as soon as they cool down and you're gonna have a lot more fun
A few more things to add 1) You reload while in ball form which takes 2 secs the same as crab mode reloading. 2) You can Melee cancel into a shorter reload time by meleeing as soon as you see a few bullets pop into on his physical guns. 3) Ult then Piledriver for better efficiency. 4) Learn some ball techs cause you would be surprised how easy you can accidentally do them.
I played wrecking ball for years on and off and i just started doing #1 because I had to remember to reload as soon as I turn into a ball. Too often i would engage fights with an almost depleted magazine and it was so annoying to keep forgetting to reload
@@joshuarivera6460haha same happened with me so many times! I also play bastion so I often overlook that ball’s damage isn’t the same as his tank form rather pretty less but he makes up for it in mechanics.
@@CrookCentaur yeah if I'm having a good round I'll build up ult before anyone else at the start of a match. I just keep rolling through them like a bowling ball and pile drive when it cools down. Since the ult percentage stacks per every character you pile drive it builds really fast I love it
Manual reload is slightly faster now at 1.6 seconds I think it was.. still gonna use auto reload while rolling around more, but sometimes that will come in handy! 👍
Another thing you should take note of is how efficient the boop is. If you swing with your grapplehook and boop into an enemy it can knock them pretty far back, and tick some health of aswell. This is VERY efficent for knocking supports away from their team so your team has a more efficent push. The boop can also be used to knock enemies off map/away from the objective.
I recently started to play and wow, Ball is so fun to play, i used to think he was weak bc his machine guns but now my opinion changed. He is my fav tank now
I was a mei main for all of ow1 until they nerfed her into the floor and ruined her kit. Since the last phase of ow1 and all of ow2 I swapped to the tank role. I’m a sigma main but have been learning ball recently. Such a fun character. Great guide!!
Also I tend to a lot of damage on purpose on the enemy side to use up all their health packs so they can't get them right away lol even if I just take 1 damage that's 1 health pack less for them
i wish u counted that lower ranks are more dumb players who take less chances than higher rank players bc when u try be the magnet of enemy teams crosshairs then my team doesnt take anychances they just keep waiting and waiting so i have to solo allways
Either way, ball plays the same. You run through, displace, run away, shoot from an off angle, maybe grapple through them again and pile driver, by then you should have a weak enough enemy to get a pick and you repeat. If you’re team is literally playing respawn simulator you really can’t do anything about it as ball for the most part unless you’re insanely good. Of course there’s nuances and situational things but in general he should have pretty much the same tempo of play. I play a lot of Ana so I watch certain characters patterns because I’m usually behind my team watching from a better perspective. It’s always nice to see a ball start a pile drive onto my tank, “sweet dreams” 😂

Yeah did you control the space of the teamfight? Elims dont matters only final blows and a tanks role is the moba one getting elims doesn't matter if you don't enable your team and you fight 1v5 the whole game.
I'm assuming you played sig on a map that isnt circuit royal and essentially your team was farmed while you controlled no space but got a lot of kills because of sigs high dmg and your own mechanical skill. You will win a lot more games controlling space for your team with less elims, ow isnt cod. If you make space your dps can take off angles (more likely to get a final blow) and your healers don't have pressure allowing you to maintain the desired team fight area. All of these things in synergy stack ults faster and enable the dps to kill things easier whether they are good or not. You also need to learn how to kite out. 9 deaths is a lot for a tank in a non ot fight. There typically aren't that many team fights in a non ot game. So you probablly have a problem with tunnel vision and not kiteing the team out. Pathing correctly. Track the enemy ults and you can disengage out of the fight, like a pre snap read. Think kasune guide you. A lot of the kiteing out comes to ult tracking game sense and positioning setup prior to the fight. So for sig, you would need to be at least 20 m back before they kasune in that scenario. Also the character you pick on tank should always be 1st based on the map geography. Ask yourself will this map enable my characters desired character range. 2. What synergizes with your team. 3. What ults or mobility is necessary for context. Example is zarya and mei in ot. Do you counter their tank? 4. What tank counters their carry hero. Press tab who is doing the best.
Good Ball is one of the best teammates to have! You don't have to worry about healing him usually, he goes and assassinates enemy squishy targets, and he's played less, so people often can't even handle a good Ball.. they just panic and the Ball's team just cleans up. If you are not used to playing with that kind of Ball, you might find yourself in danger running after him trying to heal and putting yourself in danger accidentally, or playing a way that requires a different kind of tank that without your meat- shield, you find yourself in bad situations. Ball! 🎱
@@big_pneis bro as a support main, a good ball is always what i want to see?? its literally just a tank/assassin that doesn't need your healing, so i can ignore him and focus on keeping my squishies alive. id actually prefer ball over a rein anyday.
