Looks like fun! A few offbeat choices along with the classics, a good mix. And most importantly they’re not laying out too much, just enough to get everyone to settle down already.
I know there was fan art floating around of chloe grace moretz as supergirl and this version sounds like it willing have kind of a hit girl feel which could make it possible
I’m excited for this. I liked the Snyderverse, but it wasn’t working. This seems to be a a good way to set a foundation. Then introduce the hero’s who we know slowly. If they just announce and put the big characters it will be the Snyderverse 2.0. Marvel didn’t include all A-list characters when they began the MCU. Some of those characters just became a-list characters because of the MCU.
Some questions unanswered. Is Supergirl going to be recast? Also based on earlier reports Superman will be younger so how does that work with Supergirl? Authority but no JL is odd.
Mostly excited! I share the confusion over what is/isn't canon moving forward, but it sounds like there IS a plan moving forward so I'm along for the ride. I'm torn about The Authority. I LOOOOOOVE the original run of the comics and have wanted to see a film for years (second only to my desire for a Planetary show), but I was never a fan of bringing the Wildstorm universe into the DCU (one of the many mistakes of the Nu52), turning what was once a truly subversive and provocative imprint into "look, heroes who use swear words and punch harder!". But maybe Gunn and company can bring some of that original spirit into this iteration. I'm just...hesitant for now. Everything else, I'm super happy about! If Grant Morrison and Tom King are your guiding stars, it's hard to go wrong!
I hear you on bringing the Authority into the DCU but like I said when we discussed I think "The Authority doing things their way VS Superman doing things his way could be a really interesting story that reflects how we deal with things in the real world and if they can tap into that Im into it!
@@michaelvogel7026 yeah, I hope the movies can handle the integration better than the comics, and I think the movie could be awesome in and of itself. I do still worry that introducing the subversion of The Authority so soon after establishing this new version of Superman might dampen the impact of that contrast (tilting the platform too quickly after you build it), but Gunn's impressed me plenty in the past with his ability to play hopscotch with tones so hopefully he can pull that delicate dance off here.
I have thought a bit about the DC announcement and it’s pretty meh for me. I’m glad Superman’s character is going in a different direction. James Gunn’s humor is very hit or miss for me. Anything that’s rated R from him in the humor department is likely to turn me off. I’m watch superhero movies pretty faithfully, but I more often than not don’t enjoy comics as a medium. I also don’t enjoy horror. So, this slate isn’t making me jump up and down. However, I can acknowledge that James and Peter are talented and have a plan. Maybe I will be surprised. I am looking forward to the Waller and Lantern series. Maybe I will end up liking the TV shows better than the movies. That’s what happened last time.
I can't say The Authority interests or excites me. This storyline has been done. It was done very well in season 2 of Daredevil. I watched season 1 of The Boys, not interested in any further seasons. I know I'm on an island here, but Damian Wayne is the worst Robin, imo. Tim Drake does not get enough respect. The Animated Series did a meh job with Tim, basically combining him with Jason Todd. I want to see a faithful depiction of how awesome a Robin Tim was.
The Authority isn’t like the Boys though. That really doesn’t do them Justice. You should read the comics, it’s pretty wild. The Wildstorm Universe has some dope characters in it. I hope they do them justice. I agree with you about Damien, they give him way too much shine, while shading the others. And he’s most def not the best Robin. Here’s hoping that they introduce Dick, Jason and Tim later on. Also…would be dope if we got Cassandra and Duke too. Maybe even Luke..? Lanterns sounds interesting too.
Are season voice actors screwed if they're not actors? If Kevin Conroy was around would he still voice Batman or they'll give it to actor whose playing in Live action?
meh not liking the rush to pump out the extended members of superman and batman so quickly. I'll be honest I haven't really liked the idea of a robin since I was a kid. Ive enjoyed bits of it here and there with me being able to put up with it the best in the DCAU... but ugh to all that Damian Wayne stuff....don't want it and infinitely prefer Terry and Batman Beyond

My opinion is.....they should have waited until January 2024 to announce the new slate/reboot plan AFTER all the 4 movies (Shazam 2, The Flash, Blue Beetle & Aquaman 2) is released theatrically! I don't understand the rush to announce it so soon?! They could use this 1 yr grace period to really brainstorm on how to move forward.....like now, why would people waste their money in this economy (cost of living crisis) seeing something that is not going to continue??
the Authority is probably why Superman will create the JL. Wish I could take credit for it but someone else suggested it as a possibility

I second the decline to Damian as primary Robin in a live action adaptation. Would much rather see Tim.
