Why was the patient given 10lpm rather than 15lpm?

In the patient skill sheet , it states to administer 10 Lpm.

10 lpm is the minimum. If it’s ineffective then titrate until the pt’s vitals improve

She verbalized that she would be wearing gloves in a real world scenario before beginning the skill. Going through a full set of PPE for each training scenario on a mannequin can quickly add up so many departments allow the person performing the skill to verbally simulate the use of standard precautions. She said it quickly and combined it as "First of all I'm going to take my standard precautions and ensure my scene is safe." Those are technically two separate things. The exact meaning of "standard precautions" can vary based on the skill being performed but the term is defined by the NIH and CDC as infection control actions taken by the health care provider including 1) Utilizing the proper level of PPE based on the specific scenario (including gloves before patient contact as well as gowns, masks, eye protection, and face shields, if necessary), 2) Hand hygiene before and after patient contact, 3) Safe injection practices to maintain aseptic technique when administering medications, 4) Respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette, 5) Sharps safety, and 6) Miscellaneous steps to maintain sterile instruments and devices as well as clean and disinfected surfaces/spaces.
