Great video brother ! Very well explained. Initially I wanted to go with the Diamond C but for starting out and cost, I went with the PJ and felt it was a good move. Definitely plan on getting one in the future though. As for the tarp, I throw it on top of my spare tire and strap that sucker down lol
Hey man, I really appreciate it. Both are really solid trailers and offer their own pros and cons. Reach out on Facebook sometime. I’m sure we’ll cross paths. Love to meet up sooner or later.
In my experience the small button marker lights like Diamond C use will survive gravel roads much better than the 2" lights. The attention to detail on the Diamond C sets them apart, you can tell they are always looking for things to improve.
I'm taking notes. I am thinking about quitting logging after 20 yrs and studying the hotshot business. It peaks my interest more than anything else I can think of to do
It’s addictive man. Just try to be over prepared and realized you still won’t be completely ready. This industry changes all the time but that’s part of it that I love!
Would never want a trailer without a junction box. Rip that trailer cord out and you will then have a junction box on the DC trailer. Almost all semi trailers now have junction boxes and I have added them to all my personal trailers too. Makes a great way to take care of the future electric problem.

If you want to give away that pj trailer, I'll use it for what I don't know. Lol I don't run hotshot hauls. But wouldn't mind having one, but I can't justify to buy one yet.
Great video very informative, I’ve been debating between a PG and a diamond C, i’m looking to get into hot shotting, so I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind, for right now I’m gonna be non-CDL until I can get my CDL, so as a non-CDL driver what is a good length trailer to yet and what is a good weight trailer to get, so I’m not screw myself on payload, how important all the mega ramps compared to just a flat deck trailer weight wise and practicality wise. Right now I’m going to be hauling with a ram 2500 Cummins as that is the vehicle I have right now, once I get my CDL I’ll probably upgrade to a 4500 or 5500 Cummins, if you think that is a good choice of vehicles, thanks and appreciate any advice, look forward to seeing you out on the road. 🙏
I am not in the hotshot business, but I did want to inform you about the new rules coming February 2022 for CDL. Beginning early February, you will be required to go through a truck driving school before you can sit for the written exam. Unsure what cost will be for school, but you can count on several thousands of dollars. Tow Piglet put out a video several months ago about this. I just got my CDL and glad I did. Wishing you the best for your future plans.
Non CDL limits you to 10,000 pounds registered weight on the trailer, and 26,000 pounds overall. Think about what you can transport with that limit. You'll want the lightest trailer and truck combination you can get.
My 2021 fmax 212 has had quite a few electrical issues. Trailer has 90k miles on it and run up to 19k lbs on it regularly. Also my front tool box latch broke at 60k miles. Other than that I feel safe and know my diamond c will get the job done hauling up ti 40k gross.
I’m sorry you’ve had those issues. Have you tried contacting your Diamond C dealer to get it resolved? Between them and Diamond C themselves, I’m sure they would be more than happy to help you out!
@@shipleytransport3211 yes I’ve had warranty work done it twice now and I’ve done some work on it too. Been running hard the last two months and has been flawless since the bugs where worked out. It’s a solid trailer.
I bought my Diamond C LPX gooseneck from Justin at Quality Trailer as well about a month ago. To date I have been very pleased with the trailer. Appreciate the attention to detail that Diamond C applies to their trailers.
Hey I loved the video I’m starting my business I have everything in line to start it up could you please get back to me with a link to the pj trailer or how to find it
Those axles on the diamond C look like hybrid 8k axle. Do they have 12 1/4 by 3 3/8 brakes? If not, it's a hybrid 8k.. I bought Gatormade over diamond C for this very reason. Lippert had a hybrid 8k which is basically a 7k axle! Dexter 8k is real deal 8k. Do your research!
These are not a hybrid anything friend. True 8k torsion axels. Hope you’re as happy with your purchase as I am with mine! (After hundreds or thousands of hours of research)
@@shipleytransport3211 what size brakes are on your diamond C? And do you run OTR? we have had bad luck with torsion axles OTR. The only thing we run now is Dexter 8K With leaf spring setup for non-cdl. We run The Dexter 8K because it has a 12 1/4 by 3 3/8 break setup. This setup is bulletproof when properly maintained. Those torsion axles aren't good for lateral movement, twisting... stuff like that. Hopefully you have better luck with that setup than we did. Owning a gatormade is cheap just like big tex,pj etc. Junk..I don't own a diamond c but after looking at them with the engineered beam technology which is a 100% apple difference in hauling heavy while keeping your tgvw down, These trailers are way worth the money plus you can choose paint color and be built the way you want it. what do they weigh empty
Quick question, those who drive hotshot and need a cdl due to the weight being in need of a cdl are they required to have air brake endorsement? 🤔
So if you need a CDL due to weight, air brakes should not be required if you don't have air brakes on your equipment.
@@shipleytransport3211 much appreciated 🙏
