      Haha I respect the hustle. As of right now we are not looking to add anyone on. We are looking to possibly lease on some owner operators around November but they will need their own equipment. Give me a shout closer to then if you’re interested. Really appreciate the support on the channel too!

    I am confused, why would you need to derate a trailer that only weighs 8k? I thought you only derated if the trailer was in excess of 10k lbs, lets say if it weighed 15k etc. Tbh I dont get the whole derating thing because if they ask you to pull on a scale well you cant cheat that.

    • @shipleytransport3211
      @shipleytransport3211  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You derate the GVWR (18,000 lbs in this case) if you don’t have a CDL so you can pull it easier. The scaled weight is a completely separate thing.

      Or! You can drive a 26000 truck with a 10,000 trailer- combo weight 36,000 pounds totally legal. Any 2 axel non air brake vehicle under 26000 can tow a 10,000 or under trailer! All day every Day. But It is hard to find that many trailers under 10k

    You can put more then 8k on the trailer! Also why do you need to stay at 26k or less when you just said that you have a cdl? Also What about IFTA have you gotten that?

    • @shipleytransport3211
      @shipleytransport3211  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the trailer weighs 8,000 lbs. The GVWR is 18,000. That’s why in the video I stated I can only put up to 10,000 lbs on it.
      The truck plus the trailer have an empty weight of 17,000 lbs. To stay at or under 26k, means my max weight capacity is 9,000 lbs for freight.
      My truck is still registered at 26k so no, I do not need IFTA, apportioned plates, or the drug and alcohol consortium as of now.
