Watched this video more than I can count. Cause I remember every Monday. But most importantly I told my daughter the same thing you said. I don't hate what's in front of me...I fight for what I left behind.... and lost.
    The nightmares never stop

***** serving you, serving america in place of you. If america didnt have such high volunteer rates we would have military requirements like a lot of countries where you don't get a choice, you HAVE to join the military. So if guys like this didn't do this, you would be doing it without a choice.

    • @chinchillat505
      @chinchillat505 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

MyMannyToughts because if they were not getting paid to do it, you would be, if someone didn't volunteer in place of you america would have same laws as other countries where every 18 year old has to do military duty for couple of years. So if guys like this didn't do this, you would be doing it without a choice.

Every day for seven months I walked past the collective photographs of the fallen Diggers while deployed to Kabul. Every day they silently implored that only my best was acceptable; otherwise there could more photos added to that wall. 12 months since Kabul was evacuated, every day is a challenge to 'just breath', except is is the words of my wife and family when they say 'I love you' which helps so much.

Tom, what a brilliant job you've done on this video clip. You should have won! I'm an ex soldier and have also deplyed to Afghanistan. You hit the nail on the head. What stood out for me was the question you pose as to how many politicians' sons and daughters are over there fighting beside you.
Good work mate, should have bloody won!

Thanks for this great video. I know this is a tribute to Australian Soldiers, but this captures the feelings of thousands of men and women from all over the world who are sent away from their great countries to fight a war that is questioned by many. No matter what you believe, please pay these guys respect...because unless you've been to war, you will never understand just what we feel and what we have experienced. With all the good and bad memories i have from Afghanistan i will always hold them in my heart. I want to thank all Australian, American, and every serviceman from all over the world who have endured this hell.

Well done Tom ... a great short film indeed. I am ex-soldier myself and as it unfortunately happens, I attend the funeral of a dear but older friend only yesterday. Bill was a WW11 Digger who served 2 tours in PNG and he certainly experienced some terrible things during his war time service. But, upon his return to Oz, Bill had a similar attitude to yourself ... put the little things to one side, appreciate what you have and live life to the fullest because he was one of the lucky ones as there were many who didn't come home. Bill certainly lived life to the fullest.
Again, well done Tom .... I feel your film bridges the gap no matter the era in which one served or will serve into the future.

Am a digger my self, and this video touched me. If there was such a thing as a perfect world there would not be people like us. But if no one joins the military then the government will draft there citizens,
It took me some time to figure out what freedom am actually defending now a days. And it's your freedom so you won't have too.

Loved this clip, nice to see an Aussie perspective.
I have only respect for those who serve. We may not always agree on the reasons why we have to get involved in some country's struggle but those serving don't question it, they just do it.
And then they do it again.
Not for any glory, there isn't any, none that matters anyway, but because they want to help, because they want to finish the job and see lives improved.
    Much respect.

In my opinion nobody hates war more than the soldiers fighting it. How many wars do you think there would be if the politicians' families were fighting in them. I'd bet far fewer, and not over things such as political and economical interests. When I was in Iraq I didn't want to be shot at anymore, I didn't want to shoot at anyone anymore. I continued my mission until completion, but I just wanted to come home.

But I do love this video because it's EXACTLY how I feel after four years spent conducting war operations. I just want peace. For everyone and myself.

so, yea im not emotional I don't cry a lot, but this made me cry, he's right I take everything for granted when I should have been loving my country I was hating life, im sorry for yelling at my parents and asking for everything just to throw it away, im sorry mom and dad, im sorry for everything, and to anyone who hates me go ahead your one person I know who I am and to everyone who dislikes this video, you have no heart no soul and you don't care about your country and you hate everything, but what can I do nothing, so all I have to say is thank you, thank you for making me realize how lucky I am I have a family and a house and many other things most people don't have, Thank You

that's an eye opening video. I may not have been there and done that but it gives me a better appreciation of what all soldiers do regardless of where they come from. In the end, no matter what our background, what our culture, what language we speak, we all want piece. So the next time I want to be mad for having to stay late at work, I will instead be thankful. Thankful for the opportunity to live free, thankful to have the career I have, thankful to be able to freely make whatever choices I want to make. So even if I never meet everyone who has fought, or is fighting, thank you. There isn't enough times I could ever say thank you that would ever equal the sacrifices you are willing to make. Thank you
