Upon further discussion with the writers of the Skyrim EC Extended Cut, we’ve decided to retract our previous statement about the Dragonborn being the main protagonist for seasons 2 and 3, and that future seasons should take a more anthological approach and assign a new protagonist for each season. Our reasoning for this is because the villains of the future seasons don’t really have a personal connection with the Dovahkiin such as Alduin does, save for Miraak. But keeping both Miraak and the Dragonborn for season 2 also runs into the issue of having the Dragonborn facing off against a villain who is scaled down in comparison to a god such as Alduin, which doesn’t compliment the stakes of the story very well. After some reflection, we realized that Miraak would’ve been a great antagonist in season 1 to help build up Alduin as the Big Bad before the Dragonborn faces off against the World-Eater in a different version of season 2. But that would require us overhauling our current story for season 1, which we are quite happy with. Retroactively, we believe that season 2 could still maintain the outline of the Dragonborn DLC plot but have Frea be the main protagonist with a different Dragon Priest, or perhaps a collection of Dragon Priests, serving as the main antagonist(s). Season 3 would also retain a large chunk of the Dawnguard DLC story, but feature Serana as the main protagonist, with her father Lord Harkon being a secondary antagonist to Molag Bol, who would be the main villain of season 3. I also want to make it a point to say that we will DEFINITELY be including a lot of Skyrim memes and jokes into this series. For example, in episode 1, when the Dragonborn is at the tavern, one of the patrons will tell the Dragonborn about “how he was an adventurer like him once, and then he took an arrow to the knee”. We also think it would be funny if during the Dragonborn’s training montage at High Hrothgar, he still isn’t in full control of his Thu’um yet and during target practice, he misses and accidentally Shouts at one of the Greybeard’s goats, sending the poor and innocent creature hurtling off the side of the mountain, it’s last bleats echoing across the snowy sky as the Dragonborn and the Greybeards just stare in shock at the massacred beast flying miles away to its death. The giant that the Companions fight on the road to Whiterun will instigate the battle by kicking some poor bystander miles into the air, as giants tend to do in the actual game. We even thought it would be funny if the Dragonborn and Lydia were to come across a fanatic Sheogorath worshipper who is bleeding out from a stab wound in the streets when they arrive at Solitude. When the Dragonborn tells the worshipper that they should go seek out the local apothecary for a healing potion, the worshipper will hysterically begin shoving mouthfuls of cheese down his throat. They will yell out, “I GOT TO EAT THE CHEESE! SHEOGORATH DEMANDS IT! THE CHEESE WILL SAVE ME!!”. The Dragonborn and Lydia will react with disturbed expressions as they slowly walk away from the maniac.
For session 2 why not still use Miraak. Maybe it takes place 10ish year in the future and he has to be stopped by Frea and some other folk (maybe a newly made character possibly a thief or mage to show the different play styles in the game). It would be cool having to fight the Dragonborn this session instead of following him as the hero. Still super into whatever you end up going with this video was super fun.
Congratulations on expanding. Your channel is great and a real hidden gem. It's helped me better focus on my writing and what I need to improve. I'm not familiar with Skyrim but I am so happy you mentioned it to be animated. I really dislike how animation, even now, still gets a bad reputation for being geared towards kids and can't be catered towards adults. As if children's animated series can't be good(Batman TAS, Last Airbender, etc.). But shows, like Castlevania, Arcane and many others prove you can tell mature stories in the animation medium. And heck with it being animated, your imagination is less constrained. It's why I hope to one day see StormLight Archive adapted in animation. All it takes is someone who puts in the time and effort when writing and the creative process and if successful, they can succeed. Instead of just lazily co-opting the brand name, changing elements for superficial/ ego driven reasons and then going after fans for not liking what they are providing.
I think Rick and Morty helped out a lot in adjusting the public's perception that animation is in fact a medium that can appeal to adults as well. But you're totally right. I've heard a lot about the Stormlight Archives, but I myself am still unfamiliar with the books. Nonetheless, I'd be down to watch an animated adaptation of it any day :)
Loved the video but I would say you should've taken a note out of Conan's book when it comes to how smart the Dragonborn really is, with the people of skyrim see the Dragonborn when they first meet him on his journey seeing a hulking barbarian when in actuality he's probably better educated and wiser then 80% of skyrim's population.
Very nice Concept. My only argue is that the Elder Scroll plotline shouldn't be skipped, since it's essential to the series and at defeating Alduin by learning the Dragonrend shout.
Hi I am Darklord, co-writer Believe me when I say, I definitely considered including the Elder Scroll plotline when writing this series. But to me it felt too much like a detour from the story that I/we wanted to tell. It just caused the pacing of the show to come to a halt, the Dragonborn is investigating this expansive Dwemer ruin while Skyrim is being brought to ruin by Dragons and Cultists. It just feels too slow in a storyline with such high stakes. If we ever did an expanded take on this first season, I will try my best to address the Elder Scroll plotline. But it would need heavy tweaking. Thank you for your comment.
@@thedarklord8388 And if I remember correctly, isn't that why we chose to remove "The Elder Scrolls" from the title of the first season because of that very reason? I think that's why we just called the show "Skyrim" and that's it.
Thank you both of you for reading our comments and for responding. As a first Concept looks pretty much solid so far. Maybe in later drafts some details could be added a little bit of lore, set ups for later seasons and cetera. For example, Thane of Whiterun could be a semi filler episode, doing a montage of making favors/quests for the people of Whiterun, or introducing some new characters and stuff. But that's a loooong way looking at these close of details.
Tiny comedic moment for Thane of Whiterun is that at the ceremony, if say we get introduced upon reaching Whiterun to Nazeem (says his casual cloud district line), he tries to discredit the Dragonborn as a fake, then gets fussed across to some market stalls let's say and people cheer out for the Dragonborn as mentioned already.
I would swap dawnguard and last drag one seasons around though, Miraak has a more personal connection with the Dragonborn and seems like a bigger threat than Harkon
No. The Elder Scrolls is bigger than just Skyrim and the Dragonborn. A TV show should be about a new character in a new story and definitely not be the destined chosen one who saves the world. Think of the NPCs in the games who have interesting backstories of their adventuring days. Those smaller adventures are what a show should be about.
