People so often conflate complexity with difficulty, but you're right Bobby - they're two very different things. Complex transformations do not by default also have to be frustrating. It's great that Keith has clearly invested in some decent design on this one. I was on the fence about another MP Devy set but this video has convinced me. I'm off to place an order right now. This probably means you're in the bad books with my wife I'm afraid, Bobby.
Finally a Long Haul that has some depth to the truck bed. So many in the past skimp over this detail for the sake of engineering. But this one could actually function as a dump truck.
Just ordered mine from Chosen Prime with Scrapper, Bonecrusher and Scavenger on pre-order from BBTS. Judging from the size of Long Haul it looks like Devestator will be around the same size as the CW Devy. (Which will scale well with XTB's Menasor which I have and love the look of!)
If only his eye visor lit up that would be a huge W for x-transbots as it is I’m very impressed with this figure looking forward to having all 6 as devastator
Can’t wait to see how bonecrusher and mixmaster look, seen the other 4 on showzstore for pre order, had my version of long haul arrive today very impressed with him scrapper up next
I definitely would not combine this set. The point of giving them the "mp" treatment is so that each member can be giving the spotlight and displayed individually.
The front half seems perhaps unnecessarily complicated to achieve a slightly narrower chest for the robot, but the plastic origami of those legs, man… That’s pretty genius engineering.
I agree, I've had him for almost a week now and I'm very happy with what they've done. I hope they keep this level of quality up with the rest of the team, if they do this could turn out to be the best representation of the Constructicons at Masterpiece scale.
I like the cartoon accuracy in robot/alt mod. I hope the rest of their constructicons look and feel, and perform as good as this guy. Fantoys Constructicons also look nice. Might have to get both sets.
It looks beautiful. So tempted to get these. XTB figures nearly always look gorgeous and tend to have great articulation, but with all the QC and build quality issues they've had in the past I'm hesitant to buy any of their products, especially a combiner that's such a big investment.
It looked really great in pictures but I am shocked at how good it all is in execution. The alt and Bot modes both look great and I am very impressed with how much articulation they were able to give Longhaul. Very impressive. I am very excited to see what FansToys and MMC do with the same characters and how they will compare size wise. Really great review, thanks!
Don't worry about a combined video that you won't have to do until 2030 at the earliest, if ever. This is xtb we're talking about. They're too busy making 17 repaimts of a figure that didn't sell to concentrate on the characters that actually matter. I couldn't give away those damn protectobots that have been on my shelf for 3 years.
@jonathanembry4688 You have faith eh? Keith himself told me all the protectobots would be out by late 2022. Excuse me if I have no faith whatsoever. Even if they get a second bot out, so what.
@@jonathanembry4688 Meanwhile, the other four are TBD, Defensor still has 2/5 bots finished, and they've got a ton of other stuff due to release any time as well, all of which has been delayed multiple times.
Great xtb review. That can be said since you didn't throw it into your review space like the omnibot. 😂 Got mine today and totally agree. But i think the tires are monoprene not rubber. I work with plastics/injection moulding and think most tf g1 and up tires are made from that probably. It feels like rubber and is resilient to pressure. Good review.
Great video and review, very thorough. I actually just put in an order based on your review so thanks. That being said I can’t afford both so I had to choose and I chose the toy version because it was more affordable but I wanted somehow the white head version it looks super, super, super 👌💯
I am glad to see XTB might be getting a little a better. Punch counterpunch were dissapointing to me and so where the omnibots in many ways. I really want their Galvatron and am hoping it ends up being solid because I love the looks of it
@@sw1000xgThat’s not true and I agree that this piece is a lot better while for me that makes X-Transbots a little better. Where have you been, I mean really? X-Transbots sculp is amazing but the materials and their transformations have been horrendous!!! Case in point the Kup figure and the Menasor figure horrible materials and transformations BUT sculpt then yes they are very very good at that but that is not all the aspects which make a figure great.
Apart from G1 there isn't an official or 3rd party Devastator that's done it for me. This looks promising, I might go all in on this set. I''m always worried that XTB will put out a QC dud though.
I do want this. It looks great. It's xtransbots though. Their figures look great in both modes but when I have a breakage which is rare, it's always xtransbots breakage. That's why I go for mmc combiners. The size isn't the best but I like to flip mine back and forth alot.
I started by loving XTB because their TF action figures looked great, second only to FT in my opinion. After a couple of purchases, some big QC issues regarding build and overall quality and some bad business decisions on their behalf I started ignoring their releases all together. This seems like a very good TF action figure but I'm not going in on it with so many new options being announced and released without checking the other options first and making sure this isn't a XTB flop. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
Awesome! I feel good about this purchase for sure now. If it had any real issues you would be on point about them. It should be actually shipped today. Got a tracking number for it Saturday. It's primarily replacing a Jinbao with 2.0 upgrade kit though I might keep this for a team display if I want duplicates for the combiner teams and I'm thinking long term I might. I might possibly pick up a ToyWord version later as well if the prices fall like I think they will when this set along with the new FT and MMC sets get closer to being completed and the market is flush with MP scale Devastator options.
Edit - 40 mins with a screw driver and a pin punch and it turns out it's a missing screw, so the torso wasn't holding together and wrenching all the plastic. Some stress marks but nothing too serious, replacement parts requested and added a screw for now, seems solid. Much more positive about it now. Mine is shearing apart at the waist, I'm going to have to disassemble it and see whats happening. Also I hate the knees, the gaps around the centre piece in a straight leg drive me nuts. Really wanted to like this but the waist has soured it. If there's a break ill be requesting replacement parts.
There aren’t any out to the side ratchets but if you look at 4:27 there seem to be teeth for out to the side ratchets. Curious. I wonder if it’s a defect in Bobby’s copy or if it was removed late in production? Otherwise this seems like a solid win for XTB. Well done Keith and well done on the review Skully
I don't know... that sqeaky plastic.... reminds me of 80s toys plastic that becomes brittle over time. Replacing Toyworld with a similar quality seems like... :/ Great review, great looking figure, can't wait to see what Fanstoys comes to the table with.
Soooooo. If you don’t go combine mode with these guys are you keeping alt mode or as bots? Are you out on Fans toys? The fans toys alt mode looks like crap but bot seems good. I was thinking for me. These in alt and FT as bots but I don’t have a devistator I got in the game late. So what ever looks better goes as my combiner at the end. Damn too many came out at once.
Why couldn’t Keith have sent you this instead of that Alien Attack garbage? It’s rate to see such praise for a Keith figure and this would have made him proud cause I think he holds you in high regard.
That green really does not like being filmed does it? Wish we didn't have to chose between stark toon with no detail and stark toy with arguably too much. In most cases my ideal is toon colors and layouts but with a bit more of the toy-based detail to keep it from being too bland
Looks nice, but Im not willing to spend 600 on a new devy. I have the toyworld. I I didnt then this would look compelling if all the other figures are as good as this one looks so far.
I don't hate it, but I feel like Magic Square was more successful overall (aside from the truck bed, of course, and the doubled-up headlights). This feels like a poor man's attempt at imitating that design. We'll see, I might still be interested, but I'm not touching the set until they're all out and we know if they're _all_ good. I'm sick of the two versions thing though. Would prefer to just have optional parts. I'd like a silver head and purple arms. Guess you can't win them all...
Looks awesome in both modes, but getting there does look "frustrating" to me. This stuff is moving into more intricate than I'm interested in. I'd rather deal with slightly less impressive modes or parts forming than 30 minute transformations. It looks great, Im sure the combined mode will be awesome. Still, I'm sticking with O/S GT as my Devy. I like XTB but this is not for me. Maybe I can pick up the TW cheap to display in individual modes once this is completed.
Got to admit, i now skip to the end of Bobby's XTB reviews, and decide whether to watch the rest if he seems happy with the figure. It's the digital equivalent of watching from behind the sofa. As someone who wants XTB to do well, as i'm pretty sure he does, it's great to see he's strongly recommending Big Load. I'm not sure i have space for the whole team but there's a compelling case to pick this up as an enjoyable piece in its own right. Which is nice.
EMPTY NIGHT! This is NOT a contender for Transform it once and never again? Hey You dont say full Van Damme anymore? You said full Monty twice? Is that Van Dammes face on the tiger tracks?
Keith has been at this for well over a decade now and still can't seem to zero in on transformation sequences that aren't terrifying, replete with plastic clashing into plastic and all of the other obvious shortcomings his products have baked into their DNA. That's a shame to as Keith/XTB have stuck around forever

Mmc stuff and a lot of movieverse stuff are really complex, but they're not annoying or throw-against-a-wall worthy
Finally a Long Haul that has some depth to the truck bed. So many in the past skimp over this detail for the sake of engineering. But this one could actually function as a dump truck.
Cool design! These Constructicons are probably the most exciting thing going right now!
Always a good time when Bobby brings out the Flip Flaps
If you told me this was a Fans Toys piece I would have believed you.

Up in their game bro you are delusional
And the 2024 Devastator wars have officially begun!

Love that head sculpt and paint! I have the youth/lite version ordered.
XTB gives good head, so to speak.

Magic Square Long Haul has double jointed knees with the full run.
would love to see them make MP constructicons.

Go XTB!
Great to see a figure from them that not only looks good but doesn't make you want to emigrate to Mars rather than transform it.
XTB is showing off with this one. Love it!

There was tension throughout the whole transformation...waiting for the "and...I broke it..." moment

Nice call, this one grabbed my eye too
I'm getting a Magic Square engineering vibe from what I'm seeing and I'm not saying that in a negative way. Love how solid this seems in both modes.
