A beautiful sunny day on the Costa del Sol.
    Temperature: 23 degrees Celsius
Many foreigners spent the winter months in Fuengirola, especially Scandinavians seem to love this small town 25 kilometers west of Malaga.
Today we take a walk through Fuengirola. We visit Down Town, Los Boliches, the Beach Promenade and the Tuesday Market.
Fuengirola is a vibrant coastal town located in the province of Malaga, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. Situated on the Costa del Sol, it is known for its beautiful beaches, lively atmosphere, and rich cultural heritage. Let's explore some key aspects of Fuengirola:
Beaches and Waterfront: Fuengirola boasts an impressive coastline that stretches for approximately 8 kilometers. The town is blessed with sandy beaches, including popular spots such as Los Boliches Beach and Fuengirola Beach (also known as Carvajal Beach). These beaches offer a range of amenities, from sun loungers and umbrellas to beachfront bars and water sports activities, making them ideal for both relaxation and recreation.
Promenade and Marina: The seaside promenade, known as Paseo Maritimo, is a bustling area lined with palm trees, shops, restaurants, and cafes. It stretches alongside the beaches, offering scenic views of the Mediterranean Sea. At the western end of the promenade, you'll find the Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola, a modern marina where you can admire luxury yachts and enjoy a variety of water-based activities.
Sohail Castle: One of Fuengirola's most prominent landmarks is the Sohail Castle, a Moorish fortress that dates back to the 10th century. Located on a hill overlooking the town and the sea, the castle offers panoramic views of the surroundings. It hosts cultural events, concerts, and festivals throughout the year and has a small archaeological museum inside.
Gastronomy: Fuengirola is a paradise for food enthusiasts, with a diverse culinary scene that caters to different tastes. From traditional Spanish tapas bars to international restaurants serving cuisines from around the world, there's something to satisfy every palate. The town also hosts a weekly market, where you can explore stalls selling fresh produce, local delicacies, and crafts.
Cultural Attractions: Fuengirola embraces its rich history and culture. The Bioparc Fuengirola is a must-visit attraction, offering an immersive zoo experience that recreates natural habitats for various animal species. The town also has a range of museums, including the History Museum and the Collection of Imprints and Stamps Museum, which provide insights into the local heritage.
Festivals and Events: Fuengirola is known for its vibrant festivals and celebrations. The Feria Internacional de los Pueblos, held annually in late April, showcases the cultural diversity of different countries through music, dance, and cuisine. The Summer Music Festival, with its live music performances, and the International People's Festival are other notable events that draw crowds from near and far.
Accessibility and Connectivity: Fuengirola is well-connected to the rest of the Costa del Sol and beyond. It has its own train station, making it easily accessible from Malaga Airport and other major cities in Spain. Additionally, the town offers a reliable public transportation system, including buses, making it convenient to explore nearby attractions.
In summary, Fuengirola is a charming coastal town that offers a mix of stunning beaches, cultural attractions, and a vibrant atmosphere. Its beautiful waterfront, historical landmarks, diverse cuisine, and exciting events make it an appealing destination for both locals and tourists seeking a memorable experience on the Costa del Sol.

Qué nostalgia. Íbamos los veranos toda la familia en los años 70. Las calles del centro están casi igual. Recuerdos de juventud, noches, baile y algo de playa. En aquel tiempo las únicas nacionalidades éramos españoles y holandeses.

Fuengirola is a beautiful place. Plenty to see and do pubs and restaurants and shopping. Beautiful beaches. And harbour. Can easily get to. It from malaga. Airport. By metro only a 25 min ride to fuengirola for a few euros. It costs a lot more by taxi. Plenty of other places nesrby to visit. And Gibraltar only a short bus trip away. And mijas village is s beautiful place to go to. Also only a short ride away.

Yes, the temperatures very rarely drop below 20 degrees here even in winter and you get sunburned quickly even in December or January.

What I really don't like are the buildings from the 70s that are still standing in Torremolinos and Fuengirola. These ugly concrete blocks.

I love the way almost all the street cleaners you see in Spain are women. They wouldn't dream of doing that job in the UK.

One of the worst, overcrowded, advertisement polluted, chinese crap shops and cheap kebabs everywhere. Old, tall buildings, blocks urbanizations - Torravieja of Costa Del Sol. Huge disappointment.
