i saw this in my subs and thought to myself "oh, dont piss me off" because now i have to watch it and sob with you at the end of it. its a legal requirement
Aerith in her "Dream" was in the verge of crying, which is why the photographer in japanese said, she looks like crying and the reason why funeral. Because she is acting "weird" is because Sephiroth found her and breathing on her neck. Which is why she wanted to spend the last moment with Cloud as much as she can and after she pushed Cloud in the church, she was holding so hard back her tears. But dont worrd. Cloud created a world where Aerith survived. The moment Cloud saw Sephiroth falling, his sword started to glow and protecting Aerith, she survived in a new world. Zack is a real man. He sacrificed his own feelings for Aerith, took her ribbon back he gave to her on the first day they meet, as a symbol he set her free, so she and Cloud can be happy together.
I remember aerith's death in OG FF7 and I was beyond sad. This one broke me, I wss in tears, the connection and story in remake to rebirth that made aerith such a sweetheart and absolute joy, the way they faked us saving her... omg just painful😭
@@sharynmorgan944 Nah. Good theory, but nah. He's coping, mentally projecting that she's still alive and that he saved her. The other worlds are seriously just massive red herrings lmao She's in the lifestream where she needs to be to use holy at full strength and stop the meteor. What we see is clouds mental absolutely shattered and coping with what happened that he's a big hero but he failed to save her, again. You even get hints that it might even be lifestream aerith communicating with him to keep him somewhat sane as the lifestream theme plays numerous times when he's interacting with her.
So I've heard that people have been REALLY shitty towards those reacting to the FF7R+R lately and usually I don't comment on many vids, but I figured it was time I did, so this is me doing my due diligence of telling you you're awesome and congratulations on finishing the game! It's such a wonderful piece of media and watching your reactions was a heckin' fun ride! You're engaging, you pick the best parts to showcase and you are just so fun to watch react. Thanks for sharing!
Notice that when EVERYone fought Jenovah they all have their limit breaker unlock because how angry they were . Except Cloud because he thought Aerith is still alive
I cannot tell you how much joy seeing this video has brought me. You are a blessing and truly bring happiness to your audience. I hope you are well and safe in what is gearing up to be a Hojo of a year.
Cloud says " Wait for me " to Aerith in the Japanese dialog, not " I've got this " like the English translation, there is no reason why they couldn't have said that in the english version.
Cloud's experiencing multiple realities at once that's why he can see that ripple in the sky and no one else can. He woke up in his in a coma body in that wheelchair. The version of him from the first Zack's reality we see at the start of the game. The party in that Zack's reality all die from that Tornado that happens at the end of the first game that Sephiroth created. There's multiple instances we can see Cloud stepping in and out of different realities and we see 4 or something different Zack's making different choices leading to different outcomes. Aerith is alive in some of the realities. Tifa saw the blood and no blood probably because she's been in the lifestream so she gained some clairvoyance or whatnot. Zack's optimism and telling Cloud to save her shows she will be alive in the end. She knows she needs to die to stop Sephiroth but the game will find a way around that in the end.
The "Are you finished?" Got a very audible "WOW BUDDY" from me when I first played. And the Aerith and her Mom scene broke me and reminded me of my Mom
That whole flashback sequence with Aerith especially broke me because I've always loved how self reliant she is as a character and now I know it's because when she tried to reach out as a child to others for help no one would.
It’s sad enough to know that Aerith’s end is coming, but the real heartbreak is realizing Cloud’s mind is so shattered in the remake that he literally denies Aerith’s death, and now we will have to see him deal with all that in the next game 😭 I’m with you right there. That final sequence was so exhausting but so so good
Well Aerith happens to be alive in Zack's world which isn't the life stream, because her and Cloud in that world are still in a coma, the World split when Cloud deflected Sephiroth 's masamune, hence the rainbow effect.
They visually just showed what every player went through, and the disbelief Aerith is dead. Part 3 looks to face the parties past and trauma... and to me, the best moment in FFVII OG is when Cloud faces his trauma and the truth. It's still one of the most iconic moments in video game history. I can't wait
Wow, didn't expect so many people to accept her death after almost a year. I think he genuinely saved her. Clouds the only one to go through her destiny's crossroads as such, her fate played out as it should for the rest of the gang (her death) but for Cloud, she is alive and well. When he's cradling her there is no blood, only from Tifa's pov do we see blood. In the temple of the ancients we see Aerith nearly pass out due to exhaustion and the same happens at the altar. Her materia activated and she passed out, which is why she wakes briefly to soothe Cloud. Again, thanks to Tifa's pov, we see THEIR Aerith is dead and bloody. Clouds Aerith isn't. Tifa runs up to Aerith who's dead on her side. Cloud walks up to the living Aerith on her back. The Aerith who joins Cloud in the final fight has a materia. Every Aerith that dies loses theirs. Of course there is always Aerith in the coma too. So there's at least 2 Aerith's alive at present (coma Aerith and Cloud's Aerith with a question mark over dream date Aerith as Sephiroth didn't have his sword in the church). I think the biggest hint she's alive is LOVELESS. Analyze the story and the scenes and compare them to Cloud and Aerith and you'll find it tells their story. Now they are seperated but rest assured, he will return to her and tue love will conquer all or some shit. Anyway, she still needs Great Gospel to cure Geostigma and she hasn't got Princess Guard so she'll be back 😂
What an awesome emotional journey. Thanks for playing and sharing all those precious feelings. This game brings me to tears over and over again ... a true masterpiece. 🥲
Squaresoft was really diabolical with how they changed the Aeris death scene. In the original, Cloud was able to process the death and acknowledge it with his speech to Sephiroth along with the funeral scene. In this one, they didn't even let Cloud process it since in his mind, he can still see her. He doesn't realize he's seeing the Lifestream version of her though. They hint to this when you see her sitting next to Cloud and the Lifestream motif is played. Cloud is deeply poisoned with mako which allows him to see her. Same with Red XIII being more spiritually connected to the planet and can feel her presence. I'm really looking forward to how these little changes play out for part 3.
No i think he saved her in another timeline thats why there is the rainbow light aroubd theme when he was trying to block sephiroth attack. I think he see the Aerith he saved in another time line but in his timeline she die. That's why he can see the strange sky at the end, cuz he is in 2 timeline at same time. Don't know if that make sens
4:47 OMG THE CROISSANT THEORY! I joined the finale stream at the very end and remember that coming up and being so lost but so amused by it. But actually... YES!!! It's an interesting visualization of what may be happening. I also have been under the belief that the DLC Zack ending still matters in some way despite that Zack being different from every other Zack we meet. In all of the doge realities we've seen, Zack knows where Aerith is (he literally finds her). But in the DLC ending, he is outside of the church practicing what to say to her. It's a Zack that assumes she's in the Church. I really think that will come back in some way.
What gets me the most, is that Aerith never gets to do all the things a normal girl would/could do. Even before she died, she was always sacrificing her happiness for others. Her childhood was spent as a test subject, locked up with her mom, she escapes but her mom dies, Elymyra adopts her, but still she is a sort of second because she is not her real daughter, meets Zack but is second to Shinra and his duties as a soldier, meets Cloud but is second to Tifa, It’s so, so sad. It’s hard for me to put it into words..she’s always like not needed, or not wanted, or wanted but not in that way, you know what I mean? She never got to have her moment. Never got to start her life. Everything is always cut short for her. I guess that’s what I’m trying to say.
Everything about this game is beautiful. Aside from the ending, I think the part that broke me most was Aerith’s trial because I too lost my Mom many many years ago now, it made me a blubbering sobbing mess 😭💙 but made me connect to Aerith more shes such a great character ❤.
Back when I played the OG games in 97, I didn’t cry when Aerith died because thank you to Disney, I thought I could bring her back. So I was more pissed at Sephy than anything. When I finally beat this game, I finally cried! And not just little tears. It was ugly crying. We all feel your sadness and pain about Aerith and the ending. Honestly this was my game of the year.
I know rebirth has its criticisms. I get some of them, but for me, the trials scene and Aerith's dream (?!?)tells me "The developers care, they care about the story, so dont say this game is nostalgia bait." I have rarely seen a part 3 have so much to live up to, can the creative team do it?
The funny thing is you hear people simultaneously call rhe game nostalgia bait and "not like the OG". The devs definitely love and respect the OG, and it is apparent the whole game, so I am optimistic about part 3
Some of the dumbest criticisms I’ve seen are “we didn’t get to see Cloud with Aerith’s body in the water” even though that’s clearly and obviously going to be a major point of the 3rd part and makes no sense putting it here as the game ends. Some OG fans are so arrogant in their feelings for this OG game and don’t think the devs care about it as much even though this part 1 and 2 make it obvious no one cares more than the devs.
@ that i agree. #Spoilers* We aren't suppose to see Aerith's body For reasons i am not sure. But I think we can look at it from two perspectives: 1) Cloud is so messed up or was suddenly pulled into seeing a different vision that he cant digest what the gang sees. Its another form of denial, that he may willingly want or genuinely believes because of the realities changing. 2) We are supposed to be cloud. Cloud in the og was in a way US-the players. Yes cloud had a story, but we had some degree of control. When Aerith died, it felt as if WE lost a friend/gf, whatever. But because Remake cloud is so messed up, we are suppose to be thinking like him, Id be shocked if part 3 pulls a kingdom hearts 3 and ignores the questions. To be frank, if the remake can pull off the whole "cloud is in even in more denial" theory, it may actually be stronger than the og. To be fair, the OG had less time, less graphics, and had to get across the story in the boxes with limited animation. So cloud saying his famous words in the aftermath of Aerith's death was a way to get across the grief. But how do you remake that? You take a core trait of cloud-his broken mind-and exacerbate it.
@ i mean at first glance yes its nostalgia bait. Lets be honest, square really went into remasters/remakes/sequels after ffx. Whether it was from the movie's financial bomb, the old creators moving on, and the changing rpg genre, square always counted on ff7 for games and merchandise regardless of quality. But now? This remake is trying to be both a remake/sequel to the OG. Its not telling you "this is the definite version," its trying to get new gamers and old gamers into a mystery.
So is it like an application of merging of multiverses. One where Aerith died and one where Cloud saves her? Aerith becomes Schrodinger's Ancient where she's both alive and dead until we get part 3?
There is some grounding to that theory given that we have Tifa's POV as she runs up to the landing. How can she see both? Remember that she spent some time in Mako in Gongaga. Why doesn't she continue to see it? She wasn't as exposed to Mako as Cloud is.
The body of FF7 Remake timeline Aerith is dead, not sure about her consciousness since it can live on in the Lifestream. Aerith and Sephiroth (and at the end, Cloud) can see parts of the other timelines due to the Lifestream (the Lifestream encompasses everything in and on the planet, including other timelines, which are created by people's thoughts/memories/dreams). So the reason why we also see a version where Aerith is alive is probably because Cloud is literally creating that timeline, just like how Zack creates two timelines by having to choose between saving Biggs at the reactor or going to Hojo for a cure for Cloud. Also @renegade637 Sephiroth says "I give you my blessing", which is probably referring to the fact that Cloud can now see parts of the other timeline through the Lifestream. Which is why he can see the tear in the sky and Aerith (which is a manifestation of her consciousness floating around in the Lifestream, much like Sephiroth does with all the numbered SOLDIERs). And it might seem counterintuitive for Sephiroth to give this power to Cloud, but I think it's actually allowing Sephiroth to be connected to Cloud at all times which allows him to manifest around him, which in turn keeps Sephiroth's consciousness "alive". At least, that's how it works according to Advent Children and the short story Lifestream Black/Lifestream White. ("I will never be a memory" - he needs Cloud to keep him in his mind in order to stay alive, which makes sense because the Lifestream is the energy of everything on the planet including thoughts, memories, dreams, etc).
No. It's a mixture of things. In what we see, it's Cloud refusing to accept that she's dead. He's struggling between reality (she dies) and his imagination (she's alive). This gets complicated when the idea that Aerith's consciousness is still around as an Ancient. There is a multiverse introduced in this game (disgusting narrative device). You can tell when you're looking at a multiverse by Stamp, the Shinra dog. He changes based on what multiverse you're in. The other ones we saw, such as Aeriths weird date and the numerous Zak ones, were doomed time lines. Sephiroth's goal is to absorb the lifestream that binds them all together. Since Sephiroth fell into the lifestream in Mt nibel, He's essentially become part of it. But again, he doesn't want to become part of it he wants it to be part of him. That's where we're likely going to expand on jenova more in part3 hopefully.
I feel your emotions!!! This game and also Final Fantasy X really get under your skin and then there's the music, it destroys you xD For me, Final Fantasy X is and remains number 1!!!
@louiseyhannah but at the same time I wouldn't have it any other way. I was there when the og came out Neverv realized you can get upset over a game. Now that we have dialogue and detailed animation, I was looking forward to things being very sad. Part 3 i expect and hope to be floored by this scenario. Zack hits different for me because my older brother died in 2022 and I got it in my head that just like with Zack, he came back to fight along side me. Then he was good enough to have and win his own fight on the way back to the afterlife. 😢
the greatest female character in the history of video games legendry game and iconic characters i can't be the same without the queen of RPG the most wise , the best support and magic user character and we lost her i really wish part 3 they will change her fate and she is back and reunite with the gang the game feels empty without her
The whole game I spent looking forward to the scene with Cloud Aerith and Sephiroth, and then when he didn't have the lines voiced.. that annoyed me slightly. Spent most of the game looking forward to hearing Cloud say those lines about her only for it not to happen.. It's the second thing that I felt was bad about the game, but I'm also okay with it if it leaves it to be solved in future content and if we do get those lines. Sort of a closure thing. I really wanted to hear the VA act the lines out.. To see Cloud OG reaction, voiced with his official VA..
It's not included in this video, but I don't totally hate the idea of Aerith's last weapon ability. Really, it's ok. An offensive ability or buff of some sort would be better of course but the ability to mass rez isn't bad in itself What fully kills it is costing two atb however. Like brother, if I have full atb on the slowest atb building character on the team, my team isn't on the ground. And when it's only Aerith up, building atb becomes pretty hard due to her suboptimal dodging. For two atb it should bring them to full hp but it doesn't even do that. You could just arise twice in the time the long-ass animation takes
Girl you are so real for all the tears (and the hollering at Cloud calling Aerith while possessed) 😂 I am looking forward to how pt3 concludes the schrodinger's Aerith setup 👀
@louiseyhannah I am not sure it will. Cloud can see between worlds as he crossed the whisper barrier and birthed that new line when he deflected the blade. The conflict, I think, will be the others thinking he's insane bc they're restricted to only seeing their world (recall that barret declined to hear what Cloud learned about from Sephiroth). Lots of possibilities! Hoping for a 2027 release since they've finished the story for the last part already
@louiseyhannah well there seems to be an alternative dimension thing going on aswell but its not really explained, I guess more will be explained in the next game +_+
When I first saw the ending, I was terribly indignant! I was annoyed by all these unnecessary parallel worlds, incomprehensible flashes at the moment of Aerith's death, which spoiled the tragedy of the moment, as well as the absence of the legendary funeral scene in the lake. Using the viewer's hope that Aerith is alive only irritated me. But after rewatching this moment 50 times, if not more, I began to notice the "pitfalls", and after watching and reading many theories, now I feel like I will cry my eyes out in Part 3 of the Remake, when the truth is revealed to us and Cloud. No matter how much I love Clerith, wanting them to be alive and together, I think that Aerith really died, and Cloud even buried her in the lake, but due to the defense mechanisms of his weak psyche, he forgot about it, as he forgot about Zack. Now he is at the stage of hard denial of what happened. I'm afraid that in the next part we'll be forced to watch Sephiroth and Jenova take full advantage of this opportunity. And there will be a lot of tears...
I didn’t cry in the ending because I don’t know what the hell happened. I hope it’s not alternate universe Aerith dies and that’s it. This is why the MCU feels weak right now.
Kinda related but not really, learning that Aerith VA has a patreon tier that costs $7,777 will definitely make me look at the character sideways, with zero fault of the writer/s when I eventually play rebirth.
You’ll cry. You’re gonna cry. You always cry. See? You’re crying.
Wrong game Jecht, you're drunk again!

That's more or less what the devs have implied in all the interviews, but they want us all to keep theorizing until p3 drops😅
This game breaks my heart ❤
I feel your emotions!!! This game and also Final Fantasy X really get under your skin and then there's the music, it destroys you xD
For me, Final Fantasy X is and remains number 1!!!
After this finale i couldn't listen to 'no promises to keep' for 2 months without crying
Real
If there aren't already tears, Aerith's song coming in at the start of the fight always sets em off
It's too much 😭😭😭
@louiseyhannah but at the same time I wouldn't have it any other way. I was there when the og came out
Neverv realized you can get upset over a game.
the greatest female character in the history of video games
legendry game and iconic characters
i can't be the same without the queen of RPG
the most wise , the best support and magic user character and we lost her
i really wish part 3 they will change her fate and she is back and reunite with the gang
the game feels empty without her
You are going to be dehydrated my dear friend!
Your making me cry 😭
Don't cry, maybe it won't end so badly.
Things can't get any worse. 😉
ABSOLUTE CINEMA 🙌
Who is ur fave ff boy? CLOUD NOCTIS OR TIDUS?
Yo that intro was 🔥
Peak emotional damage here, nice
It’s crazy to think Part 3 is going to have more content and story points to cover than Rebirth. Doubling it. Damn…
I had to stop and play back 5 times to read your review during the jenova fight ❤ was worth it this game ruined my life 2 psycologically
Omg thank you for wanting to take the time!! I'm right there with you🤝
The whole game I spent looking forward to the scene with Cloud Aerith and Sephiroth, and then when he didn't have the lines voiced.. that annoyed me slightly.
I was so hoping we could have saved her
(we did, she's onto smth with the croissant theory.)
Why do I let this game make me emotionally crash out time and time again?
The music trying to defeat Jenova 😢
Oh fuck, not the montage. I can hear Jecht laughing at me right now.
Well worth the 28 tabs I closed to watch this.
It's not included in this video, but I don't totally hate the idea of Aerith's last weapon ability. Really, it's ok. An offensive ability or buff of some sort would be better of course but the ability to mass rez isn't bad in itself
What fully kills it is costing two atb however. Like brother, if I have full atb on the slowest atb building character on the team, my team isn't on the ground. And when it's only Aerith up, building atb becomes pretty hard due to her suboptimal dodging. For two atb it should bring them to full hp but it doesn't even do that. You could just arise twice in the time the long-ass animation takes
i hope you will recover from the game
BEST GAME EVER!!!!
Girl you are so real for all the tears (and the hollering at Cloud calling Aerith while possessed) 😂
I am looking forward to how pt3 concludes the schrodinger's Aerith setup 👀
me tooooo!! it's gonna get so sad before it gets better :''')
Oh man play ff9 or 10 if u havent thoae ending are tear jerkers as well
😭😭😭😭
😢😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😢
This is so confusing, is Aeirth dead or alive? The way these scenes play out is so convoluted its impossible to know what just happened.
Why not both
@louiseyhannah well there seems to be an alternative dimension thing going on aswell but its not really explained, I guess more will be explained in the next game +_+
If younpay attention ot is pbvious
10/10 pain, I’m in agony
Hope you got your permission slips signed for this feels trip
Cure intro
Play Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion please. Its prequel to FF VII
Yeah it hurts but it hurts soon good
When I first saw the ending, I was terribly indignant!
And there will be a lot of tears...
u finish this game 7 month ago😂
kakak kamu memiliki pesona wajah yang cantik manis dan kawaiii love from Indonesia 🇲🇨
