    For those who do not understand the last scene with Noctis and Luna. They are not alive. Both are DEAD. This scene shows the two in the afterlife where they are together in this dream of their wedding. This is Noctis and Luna's "Final Fantasy". And at the end they close their eyes and sleep means that they have fulfilled their task and can now rest together in this dream in peace.

    Despite all the problems, despite Luna being very underdeveloped, despite all its problems, the relationship between the 4 guys is the heart of the game and I think it nails it better than most games. I understand when others do not find it great but I have over 150 hours into this and started replaying this. That means it did something for me and it has a place in my heart.

    • @Eric-zs6rd
      @Eric-zs6rd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      The relationship between the guys and the photos really was the key to the game. It's such a shame it could have been one of the games of the generation if it didn't have to go through that development hell. Luna being underdeveloped, and the story being told in a confusing way. If they had made it clear to the player that Noctis was going into it knowing he would need to make that sacrifice, or made character deaths more clear, it would have hit so much harder. Ardyn could have had his story fleshed out better too.

      My favorite part of the game was the banter and the genuine friendship shown between the guys. It’s come a long way from 10.

      Luna was basicly a dumb side character that shoulda just been left out.

    • @lushen952
      @lushen952 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Luna was not underdeveloped this is the most annoying bandwagoned bad take I've heard.
      The fact that EVERYONE immediately brings up Luna when talking about ffxv means she was a great character. The fact that everyone wanted to see more of her makes her a great character. People complain about how she was handled and are unaware that in doing so they're basically acknowledging what a great character she was.
      Luna was handled much the same way zelda/shiek was handled in ocarina who is also a fan favorite. Their absence from the story is what gives her mistique and makes you interested. Her early demise is what makes the game a tragedy and pus you in to the story.
      The entire game is from noct's perspective. In order for Luna to be more developed...there would have to be a long period of time where she starts following noct around which would have completely ruined her.
      And...all things considered she's in the story enough that you know her quite well. I just have no idea how this criticism had emerged it's so counter to reality.

    Martyrdom always fucking crushes me when it’s executed superbly in media. FFXV was lackluster in a lot of areas IMO, but one place it excelled ALWAYS was the story. As a long time FF fan, hearing the main theme of the series kick in during that final sequence where noctis and Lunafreya were together, just that mere piano intro, I ugly cried as soon as I saw it.

  • @LovelessDogg1

    I think as many problems as the game has, especially with its rocky development cycle, it’s still a solid entry into the series and does a fantastic job of leaving you emotionally deflated by the end of it all.

      @@alanmaclain2285 personally, it is in my top 3 but I won't deny that when it first released it disappointed alot of people and even drew some anger from a few fans, which was understandable and justified considering the 10 years development and how incomplete the game was day 1(this is coming from someone who pre-ordered it and played it day 1).
      It was only thanks to the dev team for churning out the updates and DLC that the game is as good as it is today.
      What I mean by what I said previously was that this could have been the FF7 of this generation if the game was released day 1 with story completed and polished without being cut and thrown to various media formats because of the fiasco during its development.

      @@sysfreakz999 90% of RPG games have DLCs and Companies spend millions of dollars to make DLCs for a reason. The reason is to add more content to the main game and make the experience better.
      You posted your message in 2021 but you talk about the 2016 version of the game. That doesn't make any sense. When you talk about Final Fantasy XV in 2021 You have to consider the main game + All DLCs. Because all of the DLCs are available now.
      Main game + DLCs = A complete experience.
      If someone wants to have a full experience they have to play main game and all of the DLCs.
      Another thing to point out is that, you are wrong about the main game. Director of Final Fantasy XV, Tabata, said that his vision for main game was to put 100% of the focus on Noctis and what he is experiencing through his journey. There were few times that they had to show what's going on behind the scene so that the story make sense but for the most part you play what Noctis is experiencing. There are few events in the game that he didn't talk about for that reason. he said that he is going to release DLCs for each of those events and let players control the character which that event is relate to and experience those events.
      Final Fantasy XV the main game is exactly the way Tabata wants it to be. It is not an incomplete game what so ever. It is a critically acclaimed game and won a lot of awards. in my opinion this game is masterpiece . This game is one of the best game of this console generation.
      People who say this game is incomplete or rushed don't know what they are talking about and others blindly repeat what they say without doing their own research. The problem with people who call this game incomplete is that they haven't read what the director of the game has to say about his vision and see the game from his lens.

    • @sysfreakz999
      @sysfreakz999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alanmaclain2285 I hate to break it to you but I have done my research and have been following this game since its announcement in 2006. I have swallowed every content FFXV universe had to offer through kingsglaive, brotherhood, game trailers, DLCs, cross-overs, books and even the bloody 8 bit mini game on ps4 so don't question me on lacking knowledge of FFXV because I love the game and it's universe and have been doing so for 15 years now..
      Trust me when I say the game has come a long way from its release and its better than ever but it could have been so much more on release. It could've been the best ARPG or just straight RPG in general in this generation IF THE GAME WAS RELEASED WITH ITS FULL STORY on release day (minus DLC). Why do I keep talking about the release back in 2016? Because that's where people form their first impressions of the game and most likely their only impression of the game. Take a look at No man's sky, fallout 76 and cyberpunk as examples.
      Players back then when playing through the game could easily tell that a chunk of the story was missing, especially in chapter 12-13 which also dragged out longer than it needed to be (which even the devs agreed and updated) and unless you were a big fan of Final Fantasy in general, nobody was going to bother jumping to other forms of media just to make proper sense of a story and build character development that could've been done IN-GAME during the first half e.g. Luna. Her death was underwhelming asf because she barely had any screen-time so there was no real sense of connection and emotional investment from the player yet she was all over kingsglaive. The players were only sad of her death because Noctis (who we are emotionally invested in) was in pain from the loss. Thank god for the ending part of the game as that was one of the most emotional moments of any ff I've played and I've played all except 11.
      Also, keep in mind that the first DLC was released on March 2017, 4 months after release. By that time, a lot of people have already written FFXV off and moved on to other games. I personally loved it but all of this disappointment and hate could've been avoided if management wasn't pulling the devs out of the project to work on other games and many other behind the scenes fuckery. Square Enix lost millions from this project despite the positive reception for the most part simply because of the story and how it was handled hence why DLC for Noctis and Luna was canceled and now we have to refer to a book for the true ending. Even XIV, an MMO handle their story better than XV.
      Regardless of what your expectations are for others, at the end of the day your expectations doesn't mean shit to anyone but yourself because it's nothing more than an opinion and this is a subjective matter.
      Edit: sent accidentally before I was finished. F.

      @@sysfreakz999 You played it day 1 and watch anime and move too? ok great but it doesn't make you right. you are 100% wrong and don't know what you are talking about. Me and all of my friends played this game day one too. I have collector's edition of this game.
      Some things are opinion. You have yours and I have mine. but some things are facts. You have all your facts wrong. You keep saying you did you research but everting you say it pure BS. I am talking about the FACTs not opinions.
      It is clear that you didn't even bother to read my previous comment properly and skip most of it. You like to keep coming back and keep writing same thing about how incomplete this game is and don't bother to read what I have to say. This conversation doesn't get anywhere. You and people like you are the problem of the community people who spread wrong information. Go back and read my previous comment first and then read this one.
      when you go to an art galley you talk to the artist or read notes next to each art in order to understand their creation better. Because you look at those arts from their point of view and it makes you understand it better. Video games are art too. if someone wants to understand Final Fantasy XV better they have to read what the creator/director has to say about the game and what was his vision. read my previous comment to understand what the director of Final Fantasy XV had to say about the main game story and it is 100% complete.
      You call this game incomplete and say people first impression of the game was not good because of that. similar to Fallout 76 and cyberpunk. you are 100% wrong. Fallout 76 and cyberpunk were a big mess. Final Fantasy XV was a complete game day 1. DLCs add more content to the game. Because there are DLCs it doesn't mean the main game is incomplete. You wouldn't say these BS if you have read my previous comment.
      you talk about chapter 12 and 13 being too long and Luna's death was underwhelming and etc. these are your opinion. because you believe in something it doesn't mean it is true. Director of the game made the best game he could and I respect his decisions. You can't sit there and expect every single part of the game be the way you want. If you want a game to be exactly the way you like you have to create and direct your own game. This is Tabata's game and you have to be open minded about his decisions. that's why I say understanding the point of view of the director is very important before playing a game like this.
      You talk about the release date of the first DLC which is 4 month after the release date and people where already moved on. That's not true. Soon after releasing the main game they announced that their will be multiple DLCs and offer Season Pass in order to get all of them as soon as they releases or purchasing them separately when each of them separately . If some people don't want to wait it is their decision but it is not like they all of a sudden release a dlc after 4 month and no one knows that it is coming and people move on. Your logic is laughable.
      you say "management wasn't pulling the devs out of the project to work on other games" that's a lie. where did you get these information? from your imagination? Square enix didn't pull any devs to work on any other project. the reason the last DLC canceled was because the director quit and left Square enix and created his own video game studio.
      You say "Square Enix lost millions from this project" that's 100% wrong. the director said that after only 6 month of the release date they made more sales needed to call this project a success. It's been 5 years and still new people like this streamer purchasing and playing it. The game is a big success, It is an amazing game that received many praises and awards before even the DLCs come out.
      I don't care about your opinion about different parts of the game but You've got all of you facts wrong. how is it possible you say you did your research? LMFAO
      You and people like you are the problem of gaming community. People who don't know what they are talking about and spread lies and wrong information. A person who played the game day one in 2016 doesn't let go of it and 5 years later still search about it on the internet and write angry comments about how bad the game is and make some facts out of imagination and spread wrong information and lies. I don't have time to argue with you and someone like you. I enjoyed talking with people who do a lot of reading and doing a lot of research but talking with a clueless person who doesn't know what he is talking about is a waste of time. This conversation is over.

    This game renewed my hope of Square making a fantastic Final Fantasy game. After playing through Final Fantasy XIII, that game left such a sour taste in my mouth (just going for the platinum trophy on that game was excruciating) that I not only forgo playing its sequel games but it left me serious doubts that Square forgot how to make a memorable Final Fantasy title. Then XV came along and it blew those doubts away. Initially I thought "Stand by Me" was an out of place song; but after playing through the game and hearing it again at the end, I understood the meaning behind the song and its significance within the game. It got me tearing up; but it wasn't until the "Final Fantasy" theme song began playing is when the tears really came down. That song is synonymous to the series and its absence on XIII made that game feel out of place and bland. Anyway, Final Fantasy XV is such a great game, it's because of this game that I got into the Nier series (due to Nier Automata's "Weight of the World" being an MP3 add-on for the Regalia). I love both series, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin was a great game and it didn't disappoint (though its story was a bit weak, everything else was great) and I do hope that Final Fantasy XVI will live up to the legacy that its predecessors left.
