It is a rare treasure, finding a cover song that actually manages to surpass the original. Hurra Torpedo unearths and brings to light the hidden layers of meaning and significance only hinted at in Bonnie Tyler's version. A song for the ages: we are lucky enough even to be able to say yes, to say that we were there, to bear witness to Hurra Torpedo.
This was on an extremely popular Norwegian tv-show in ca 1995, I still remember sitting paralyzed in front of the tv watching this song - the first time it was broadcastet
An absolute classic, I listened to it 10-15 years ago and thought it must have at least 400 million views. With my friends we have watched it at least 30 times, back in the days :D.
@@TheoMurpse When they are lifting something heavy over their heads and slamming it down with very specific timing? Sure they do. Dude is more concerned with making sure he's doing his part correctly than being concerned if his clothing is on properly. That's an artist. Also, he's not the only person in the song wearing a tracksuit, so it's odd that that's how you interpreted that.
We're currently in the times of CoVid-19 and the quarantine is f*cking depressing, but Hurra Torpedo just made it 20 times better. Thanks, you beautiful weirdos.
I had the pleasure of meeting the band in Athens Georgia in the fall of 2005. Ever since I show my friends one of their perfect renditions of Total Eclipse and kitchen appliance destruction. Everyone gained a new found appreciation of appliance bashing accompanied with great music. Glad to see you are still slamming doors and hammering stove tops.
I actually had to study this in college. "Rock and Roll Appreciation and History", with Prof. Moskowitz, who was not only a great teacher but also genuinely one of the best people I've ever met.
That was the very first youtube video what I ever seen. It's 2020 and it's still amazing 😊 Now I can understand the lyrics! Thats what 14 years can do if the time well spent.
Do they travel with their instruments? Like, do they load those busted kitchen appliances into their tour bus or do they just hit up whichever dump is closest before each performance?
they go shopping or at festivals they get it fixed for them, they refused to walk on stage at a festival cause the festival people had put a microwave on stage and the band said we play rock, not techno =)
I spent almost 20 years to find that song I hear during my studies. Never forget, still in my head and ears, that most full filled cover version. And today I found it! Drumer live for that moment 🙏
Drummers name is Kristopher Schau. Love that guy, done a lot of things after this like tv shows, podcasts and music. He is currently in the band The Dogs.
I saw this performance like 20+ years ago, a time long before TH-cam and even before MySpace was a thing. I was surfing some sites with hilarious stuff as I needed some laughs. I found a ton of stuff, without any ads! Can you believe that? And I found this cover, too. And I had my laughs. Now it's the month of August in 2022. I saw a video about a strange and really nice female inventor about weird robots chopping vegetables and then a giant robot chopping an oven. I remembered something. It was a song sung by Bonnie Tyler and I got a lot of memories as pictures in my mind, but was unable to "write" these into the search. But I tried her name and it revealed the next clue: Total Eclipse Of The Heart. However, I needed to add something into TH-cams search, as I found a TON of stuff, but nothing similar to what I was looking for. But 'oven' did the trick for me. I just added the oven to my search and I found it! I found this video. The circle is closed. And I had my laughs, again. Dopamine over 9000!!! 😄 If TH-cam still exists 20 years from now, as well as earth: Greetings from the past!
I over heard a conversation today "whats that bangin tune you were on about?". I instantly thought of this even though I haven't thought of this for probably over a decade.
Saw them in 2008 at the double door in Chicago. They wore those outfits the whole show, in a non-air conditioned club in July. They were insane. I believe they covered Britney Spears as well.
I’m Norwegian and saw this first time 18 years ago on the Norwegian television show: Lille Lørdag were this video is from 😎 Loved it then love it today
So you're a musician, which instrument do you play?
-Oh I play the freezer and the dishwasher.
“With my ass hanging halfway out”
Well I place the stove.
😂😂😂
And they’re fantastic at it.
I'm rather now into learning the Sledgestove.
Just discovered this in 2024, it has aged well
I saw it for the first time around 15 or 16 years ago.
Can confirm lol
I think you meant Ageless, it will never NOT be relevant.
What do you think of this?

LOL good one. This must be a joke, right?
Hurra!
I like to imagine this guy has gone on to an illustrious career as a record executive
Even Live a couple of times, including the infamous Duplexfestivalen (I think it was Duplex 1994, taking place in 1996 or something)
How can this not be the most viewed video on TH-cam.
I've watched it so many time.. I'm still in tears every single time.
Best cover ever!
The guy next to the stove: "Wait for it..." Laughing my ass off about him standing ready waiting for so long for the first hit. HAHA!
I'm here now, don't worry, it's the most viewed video. Numbers mean nothing. I watched it really hard, like, super watching.
Basically, it's a still go-to version for me, 17 years later. Just heard original on the radio and had to listen this (proper) version again.
@@alanmalcheski8882 How do you watch something "really hard"? As an American, you sound like a real dipshit.
@@alanmalcheski8882 Yeah you LOOK like a "super-watcher". Fucking creep. Most viewed video of a fucking creep. Fuck you, you fucking loser.

This was one of the first TH-cam clips I ever saw and I’m happy to come back to it year after year.
It really was one of the first TH-cam clips of all time.
An absolute classic, I listened to it 10-15 years ago and thought it must have at least 400 million views. With my friends we have watched it at least 30 times, back in the days :D.
I can't believe I've been watching this video for approx. 18 years on TH-cam. How?!?
I ve still watching this video after 13 years :)
And every time is better n' better :D
I here ya! This is genius!
What happened 13 years ago? Did this have a revival of sorts?
that dude totally knows how to rock the fuck out of an appliance ...
if you were a rock critic, I would follow your posts.
Still watching this in 2019. \o/
indeed!
hopefully in 2020 as well

2020. here alright...
I'm waiting for them to go on tour again!
When you're looking for an emotinal song, but not TOO emotional.
I think it is hysterical how serious the Lead singer is trying to be,regardless of the way they are dressed and the instruments being used. love it
Norwegians wearing track suits are not an uncommon thing. Go to Europe sometime.
@@boatridecharmdo they wear track suits with their asses hanging out like in this video? That's what he was talking about.

it is most definitely not

what a timeless classic. pure art!
simply the best version of song. will always come back here
still the definitive and canon performance of this song, 18 years later
this is some serious heavy metal

This may be my favorite cover -- ever! What an amazing performance!
I actually had to study this in college. "Rock and Roll Appreciation and History", with Prof. Moskowitz, who was not only a great teacher but also genuinely one of the best people I've ever met.
If Animal was a human, he'd be those two percussionists.
Favorite cover of all time, and after hundreds of listens... this is the first time I've heard "kowder peg" had to go back and double check.
That would be a good name for a band
Ive never heard such a talented stove player!
anyone in 2020?:D
Only thing getting me through tbh
I will always love it!
yep
Yup. After 2020 I am thinking we deserve these guys as POTUS, as a trio, running the country.
Yeah I was rewatching a bunch of Adam Sandler movies and the scene in Wedding Singer with this song reminded me of this video
i come here every once in a while

Also in 2021. It didn’t take too much time from this year, and I already wished for it.
a true masterpiece
absolutely refuses to get old
This is brilliant. Got me through the darkest day in my life so far. Thank you!!!!!!
still coming back at least once a year since I was 20. Just pure art imho.
Does anyone have the electric hob tab for this?
After many years, this holds up so well.
I am so proud of my country
Eg og!
Gives the original all the respect it deserves. Just wonderful. ❤
They're a brilliant live band.
This was the most viral video I can think of from 15 years ago. This should have millions of more likes!
Seriously enjoy this way better than the original
Shout out to Tom Scott for reminding us of this masterpiece.
