The loot is definitively better than what it was in survival evolved, running my singleplayer on 1.5 loot quality, and get quite alright saddles and tools.
I think it’s hilarious that you and axe and evo get fantastic loot from the drops and Jim gets cloth pants and a little bit of hide ,when he doesn’t get eaten the moment he gets off his mount that is

a coastal base might be fun what with the new water physics and such, but you could also think about doing a bunch of tree platforms since they've fixed them to have snap points now so it's so much easier to work with. Maybe an ewok village type base in the redwoods???
that was an idea I thought about cause I did it on ASE, but i think the lack of cryopods would just make a treehouse a chore rather than a benefit
A redwoods village for when they all join up would be cool. Combined with defenses set up btwn the three of them would actually be a cool idea to have accomplished before the next map for them to go to

He’s done both of those several times over. Yet in all of his seasons, he hasn’t done a mountainside or a snow base yet.

Hey Syn, don't know if you knew this but foundations can now snap to each other up and down elevations, so when you're looking for a new base spot, they don't have to be incredibly flat anymore, just to keep in mind if you find someplace really pretty but think no because it's too hilly
Is this a change they made within the last 24hours bc I am not able to stack foundations.
@@philipfarmer4538 no not stack foundations but you can snap them to the spots above and below adjacent spaces. basically you can either snap a foundaition right next to one, up and next to one, or down and next to one.
@@philipfarmer4538 it's still wonky, the foundations snap adjacent but don't stack, thankfully it provides the needed foundation support and ceilings snap flush so you can extend flat with ceilings and wall the edges, and it opens the possibility of having easy crawlspaces with the use of trapdoors which could be pretty neat if you get a trench across your build area.
Yeah, but then you have walls of different height and it makes building coherent builds kinda difficult (in theory, I don’t know if they’ve added half walls or anything, if they have then that’s amazing).
@@destinystriumph1573there are quarter walls(and ceilings). Two of them can be a half wall horizontally or vertically. A little tedious, but doable
I am playing on official, and we are finding so many good things in drops including industrial forges and grinders. The loot is op on official as well!

@@Zaralove1750 Yeah, i got in now at last (veteran of ASE here from official pve), then it reminded me all those waisted hours in breeding (mostly with low rates)- thanks to cryopods it was somehow still managable and fun. and later on when maewings came, it was actually so much fun....so i got in and felt it. Breeding right now on official would be too painful with low rates (i know, there are sometimes better rates) and without some certain stuff and dinos. Yes you can get dinosaur babys, but you have to grow them up also. On singleplayer, im having a blast right now with all of these new things. I regret being to officials now! Maybe when cryopods come back, then i am thinking about it to join. Have fun!
@Syntac You probably already know, but when you do drop runs with your Ptera, you should definitely have a shoulder pet to metigate some of the weight of the items you are carrying.

You can track taming dinos (and any dino) by clicking the filter option in the dinos tab, clicking tames, then clicking the map icon on their dino icon. Not just highlighting it, but specifically the map indicator icon.
While typically I agree an nice open flat location to build in is ideal. I also think there's charm in building in locations where that isn't the case as a base is forced to develop more naturally if you're blocked by physical restraints and mechanics. I hope you find a good location I won't be able to play Ascended maybe ever, my PC can barely run Evolved.
Seeing them workaround the terrain for builds would actually be awesome even if frustrating for them to do prolly 😅 but how cool would it look to have a gated community for the three of them with multiple levels and areas
I love the adjacent spot! Cool thing is with it being more north and kinda close to the snow you can see little snow spots around the trees. It’s a very beautiful spot!
The glow from the red obelisk looks so menacing at night, especially if there are clouds over it. I didn't notice until now but red drops look just as ominous as red ob😅

I really hope they revamped the small underwater pearl caves! If they look amazing I bet they’d be really cool base locations!
Saw one of the smaller ones on a different Ark TH-camr vid. It looked incredible.
I'm sure someone's already mentioned it, but the volcano itself acts like you're in a cave and will despawn/unload the world around you when you get too close to it. You can still get crates that land as long as you can manage to get up against where they should be.
Is that the case in Evolved as well? Seems poorly designed.
With that intro. I am *certain* the Bog on Gen 1, is going to be *terrifying*
On your base, I really think the "secret door" wall would look really cool under your stairs....plus keeps your things a little more safe from axe and jim lol
I once made a metal outpost at blue ob that floated off the side of the mountain as to reduce the number of metal being blocked by the structures, while not particularly conventional it was a fun place to maintain.
The River Base adjacent to the snow would be awesome!!

Hey syntac I’ve noticed that the drops on the volcano tend to “disappear” but they are very much still there and accessible! I’m not sure if the drops like the uneven ground lol

@justadude8297 with upside down turrets, platform snaps, rhynio/quetz and elevator, it's not as bad as it used to be. Though it definitely still is a more challenging place to live.
(I definitely understand what you mean, though creature storage in the redwoods is a nightmare)

im glad syntac decided on the "tundra" area. the areas that are technically snow but the ground is brown. i always live in the tundra on maps, especially on Val in ASE. Super dangerous but the area he chose doesnt seem to be too too bad.

Love the location! I think 3 different sized buildings with towers/ spires, one on each island would look nice. Maybe you could connect them with varying height catwalks or bridges. Loving the content from you guys. 👌

My goodness those lighting effects are gorgeous. I have really got to get a new PC. I am not sure if mine will run this game correctly and I so want to try it. Maybe by the time I can enough of the rest of the game will have been released for me to not get upset at what is missing still.
21:50 I used to live in that spot with my good mate. I also used to live in the spot of your first 1x1. Good times. I wish I had ASA to relive the olden days with my one friend who brought me into the game back when there were maybe 2 maps at the time.

I grew up in the Sawtooth mountains of the western United States amd during winter and rain storms with heavy cloud overcast it would get dark like that. Also when the sun set during that kind of weather we would get red, pink and orange lights across the sky. So beautiful.

Previously suggested Best Base Location: 40/23 (roughly) at the top the cliff. You were there during this video. You are settling with the river just east of my suggested spot. So this is still great for resource locations. You will just be on the cold side of the warm/cold division line.
There is a line of warm, and cold running through this area, through about the middle of the top of the mini mountain. You can find it easily when on the little mountain to the west of the spot you chose. It gets cold before it becomes snow. But the change in temperature is very noticeable.
Resources: Silica/Crystal on the beach just to the west of you where the sand turns to ice on a little island, and more crystal around this general area. You find this location by going
passed the snow trench you mentioned you could not build in without blocking the crack above.
Metal/Obsidian just across the river to the east... now you are on that river. So just go the base of the volcano. A lot of metal rocks randomly around, and you are
close to all the crystal/metal/obsidian at the top of blue obelisk mountain.
Oil/Organic polymer just a short trip passed the mini crystal island I mentioned, then under the ice arch north of that spot, and there you find oil, and kairuku.
Cementing paste can be found in dams in the river on the western point of the redwoods, just north of where the river becomes swamp. This area also has some of the
highest spawns of achatina, for even more paste. This spot is almost directly south of you, just over a small patch of forest.
There are two artifact caves very close by. One of them being an under water cave, and if you are lucky with spawns, you can harvest dunkleosteus for chitin, euripterid
for black pearls, and aumonite for bile. If I am remembering correctly. I am a bit shaky on which water cave had more or less of each of these resource creatures.
This area is the most flawless location I have ever found on the island. Not too cold if you do not want it to be. Any hide that is better than primitive will keep you warm here. Even in the water, and in most of the colder areas. Ascendant hide being the best for cold if you find some with high cold resist. Fur is just too heavy, tends to be overkill, and does not work in the water, or when wet. I hope you find good hide, since it is easy/cheap to repair, super light, while also pretty decent armor for its material type, and it looks good when colored. Good luck in the area. I build on the cliff side/top I mentioned in the coordinates, so I know that everything you could possibly want is pretty close, and easily available in this area.
I think the snow adjacent spot is a perfect idea, though the spot where you were worrying about gigas looks pretty nice.

Doubt you'll see this but build on the first iceberg that you come to that has no penguins. Challenging but looks great when done. Nice little access point out the rear pond to the ocean as well
Honestly i really like to build on the small ice islands in the top left near blue ob. Always a positive move for me! Hope that helps

I like that spot a lot. I built just down the river. Tons of resources. Lots of alphas in that area. Also lots of fog...could be terrifying.

I really like the “snow adjacent” potential base area. I don’t know what it is, but the lake and the islands are really nice, and with easy access to the volcano and snow area, it’s in a pretty good spot.
When you change the games difficulties, the loot drops get increasingly better as well. My guess is it's even better than og ark
At 19:05 if you build in the tunnels you can fence off an area around all the tunnel entrances and store your ground tames up there since you can't get them in and out as easy.

Syn, the command r.volumetric fog 0 will get rid if fog but you prob wont be as immersed
I got metal hehemoth gates and gateway from those yellow drop becons also when u break them down u get so much ingots and whatever other resource is used for said pieces

The cave under the ice in the murder snows is actually one of my favorite base locations, once you have good fur and a good otter it’s really not bad

I love that spot on the river at the base of the volcano the colour of the water is incredible. Just remember you dont have cryopods for your water tames so you will still need some kind of water pen elsewhere maybe one of the icebergs?
You can use the command r.volumetriccloud 0 to remove the physical clouds and r.volumetriccloud 1 to put them back on. i feel like at night-time it looks cooler with them on but at day-time you can see the entire map much more clearly. specifically useful when your in the snow because you can actually SEE haha

The ice flake spot is nice building on it is wierd but you could somehow maybe make supports come up from the water. like maybe a building that has somewhat been flooded and the water has frozen around it. would be cool to see🥶

I vote for that spot in the middle of the river, build up some foundation towers on those islands and connect them, itd be a bit of work but probably the coolest spot

You can build multi-tier bases, connected by bridges and ramps. It'll look nicer, thinner, and far more elegant/cool than just a flat, circular-perimeter place.

The spot where you landed to get stem back, where you said "Giga's spawn right there" That's where I had my original base! It's definitely different now, but it was an awesome spot to have a base. Built it right on a slip of ice, and any time a yuty or carnos came to me, they'd get stuck in the cracks and drown because they couldn't get to my base!
not sure if this is something you already know this being such an earlier episode into your series Syntac but using the piece you can place the elevator platforms and attach them to and breaking them down that way you get a better return on resources compared to using grinder eventually whenever you get that
The note in those ruins in the snow is right against the rocks of the mountain, kinda inside the rocks
There's drops that come down almost on the obelisks, like inside them just off the platforms. So it was a yellow drop that was just really well hidden in the clouds
Ambitious build would be covering the volcano and building a base on that, that over looks everything
Choose a spot that you would enjoy most! That joy will translate to videos that we like to watch, because we like watching you enjoy yourself on this game.
I’ve started playing Ark after watching your videos. But I am playing it on Hard mode and it is truly terrifying. but very fun.
I’d say with the base, with the difference islands you should make towers on each of them and link them up, once linked maybe you could, higher up and off to the side, link up a bigger floating tower for more room

You flew over a possible nice base spot at 29:40 ish in up from the little river dividing the ice and green might be worth checking out
