    Assuming he was drumming facing north and the concert took place in Poland, his hit-hat was in Germany at least

    Those 16th snare hits over the triplet bass.. maaan...

  • @banegoa
    @banegoa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    They both killed it! Jon's recording has a bit better, cleaner sound. After all, Jon is playing what Inferno arranged.
    And Inferno looks like he's air drumming so, it feels weird. But he's killing it!

      Jon also made a bunch of mistakes. He’s a good drummer, but he’s not that good.

  • @stevenlornie1261
    @stevenlornie1261 10 ปีที่แล้ว +98

    Impressive, not the speed but or technicality. What he was playing was very simple. But the creative use of his drumkit was pretty fun to watch. I bet that song is a pain to learn just from the co ordination.

    godly drums, but can we talk about the phenomenal lighting?

  • @unleashed90
    @unleashed90 10 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    at 2:34 and so forth, is he playing 16th note blast beats on the snare over triplets/sextuplets on the bass drum?

    • @IronFleshOfficial
      @IronFleshOfficial 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      yes he is ;) sounds kind of weird, krisiun drummer use to do it a lot, in the overall band playing it gives the "impression" that double bass is going really fast, even if it's not ^^

    • @michel4743
      @michel4743 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, now I finally have my proof that his footwork sucks! His hands are darn fast though.
      I think one of the only popular drummers, who really masters a really fast and proper double-bassdrumming, is George Kollias.

    • @IronFleshOfficial
      @IronFleshOfficial 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      well during the intro on the song he plays straight 240bpm 16th but during the bomb blast he plays 8th triplet like on the album, it would have been more brutal with 16th notes but i am sure that in front the stage the audience is thinking he is playing 16th notes ;)
      mixed with guitars/bass/vocals kind of tricky bomb blast but he plays it well, try to play this kind of bomb blast it' s not so easy to master especially the coordination hands/feet

    • @unleashed90
      @unleashed90 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was about to say the same, if the effect of playing 16th over triplets is intended that's not necessarily a bad thing, takes less speed but more coordination, so I wouldn't rate that negatively. I'm sure he could also pull off 32th notes (or 16th, depends on how you view it).

    • @michel4743
      @michel4743 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      unleashed90
      I don't think so, because I'm currently working on exactly this problem (I think it's a problem, because I think it sounds horrible). My hands can play up to 240bpm, but my feet stagger around 210 - 220. So the result is triplets bass-drumming over 16th blast-beat. For me it's something that my body does automatically to synch hands and feet, rather than a plus in coordination.
      I think that Infernos' footwork is not the best and you can see this when you compare him to drummers like George Kollias and Derek Roddy. You'll also notice that Inferno is also completely relying on his trigger, which is not necessarily bad, but for me it's a lack in endurance and control.

    I used to think it was lame when a TH-cam channel would disable comments. After taking the time to read a lot of comments that get posted on videos, I think I get it. There's an exhausting amount shit and negativity. I still don't think I would disable comments on my own channel (not that anyone watches it), but I understand why others would.

      The kit shouldn't sound how you want it to sound sitting directly behind it while you're playing it. It's more about the sound projection of the kit with the percussion out into the crowd.

    i dont think that if i were to drum professionally that i would use triggers. the reason being that if i were to mess up with certain patterns, it would be a lot harder to detect because the bass drums aren't singled out. (also they're bass drums not kick drums, you can fight me on that. the only people who call them kicks are guitarists and people raised by guitarists. or, i guess if that's all you've ever heard them called.)

    • @scottfielding6179
      @scottfielding6179 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the studio, we label them "kick" on the soundboard, same in ProTools.

    • @Malictum
      @Malictum 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's actually the opposite. Triggers point out your flaws and mistakes out much better. There's a reason why metal drummers use them, when you hear sloppy feet during a show, it's crystal clear it's sloppy. There's tons of videos explaining this.

    • @void1276
      @void1276 9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      +Sebastian techchannel You must have no idea about the drumming to make such pretentious statement. He plays with 5B sticks, just look at him he is like 6'6" tall. 5B stick plus his arm thats a lot of weight, so he doesn`t have to dig the cymbals hard. They play themselves...

    • @sebastiantechchannel2393
      @sebastiantechchannel2393 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I've been playing since I was 6, I just feel like when I play and when others play they have much more enthusiasm, I understand what he's doing is just to conserve energy but he seems like he's not really enjoying or getting into the song.

    • @ThePpppt
      @ThePpppt 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Sebastian techchannel I agree. Krimh (played in Decapitated for a while) played a few dates with behemoth, and imho made this band sound a little bit more energetic. Too bad he (in my opinion - keep that in mind) cant write as interesting parts as inferno.

    • @timothybarker3841
      @timothybarker3841 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      +Sebastian techchannel Hitting drums requires only a certain amount of power behind each stroke to make them resonate properly, especially when the drums are mic'ed up. Beyond that certain point, you're just choking the drums instead of allowing them to resonate, as well as causing more wrist strain and tiring yourself out. Inferno is a guy who is very comfortable with his instrument and knows exactly what he can get out of his kit, and how to get it. His playing is spot on across the board.
      I find that drummers who hit hard tend to have a sloppy style, and barely manage to keep up with the music (see the current drummer for Decapitated - messy, ugly style that seems like he could lose the song at any moment), whereas Inferno is totally on top of his playing, knowing exactly where he's going in the seconds to come. He's a very relaxed and comfortable drummer who knows his instrument and song structure to the fullest extent. Anyone saying he doesn't hit hard enough either doesn't understand drumming, or is one of those players who have no refinement and just bash away.
