    I've got a 2021 Ranger Lariat (US version). Everything works great and I have zero complaints. It's got big truck features and is still handy enough for my wife to maneuver in tightly spaced parking lots.

    Best all-round truck on the UK market, best looking (generally speaking), great price considering the specs when you compare to the Amarok or X-Class etc, good commercial vehicle with the feel of a car (especially the interiors on the newer models), massive choice of aftermarket parts, great communiy 🧡

    My only gripe with these is that I'd like to lock / unlock the rear diff. As a true off road vehicle, in 4WD, the rear diff is permanently locked so can't be used in 4WD for road driving. Also if you're using as a "road car" you'll want to alter the rake angle and upgrade the rear suspension.

    Because they're classed as a commercial and can claim up to a total vat relief on them while having the comfort amd commodities of a normal car, also the towing capability

      Unfortunately, the actual Wildtrak in the video isn't classed as a commercial vehicle due to the fitting of that roller shutter as an accessory. The UK is one of the few countries (if only country) where Ford deliberately doesn't fit the roller shutter as standard in order to just get it across the minimum 1000kg payload threshold as required by the HMRC in order to be classed as a commercial vehicle. The moment the roller shutter is fitted, the payload drops below 1000kg and can no longer claim the commercial vehicle BIK tax concession. The minimum 1000kg payload ruling by the HMRC is specifically for dual cab pick ups.

      @@xj358 why do i pay Uk commercial road tax?
      Mine has a roller shutter?

    • @xj358
      @xj358 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marklobbett455 The HMRC ruling is specifically for dual cab pick up trucks (2 or more rows of seats). If you want to claim the far more beneficial commercial vehicle tax status (we're talking income tax for the use of a company vehicle) then it must have a minimum 1 tonne payload. Unfortunately, the Wildtrak payload is less than 1tonne when the roller shutter is fitted which is why Ford doesn't fit them as standard for the UK market in order to just get them over the 1 tonne threshold. If you subsequently fit the roller shutter later, they are classed as a fixed accessory which then brings the payload below 1 tonne (Ford's own figures). This would therefore require the owner to no longer claim commercial vehicle tax status with the HMRC and instead pay the significantly higher company car tax rate. There is plenty of information online regarding the fitting of a roller shutter, tow bar or canopy on the Wildtrak which then changes the payload and, in turn, changes the commercial vehicle BIK tax status. It's the owners responsibility to declare any changes to the payload which may change the tax status with the HMRC

    • @marklobbett455

      @@xj358 ok thanks

    • @xj358
      @xj358 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@marklobbett455 HMRC have tightened up even further over the last few years regarding other vehicles which they no longer consider as commercial vehicles in order to claim BIK company vehicle tax concessions. A car derived van which had no rear side windows could previously claim commercial vehicle status. However, it is now dependent on whether or not there are more than 1 row of seats regardless of having no rear side windows. A car derived van with 1 row of seats can be classed as a commercial vehicle. The same vehicle with 2 rows of seats can't be classed as a commercial vehicle. Therefore, the only vehicles which are exempt from this ruling are double cab pick ups but you have to maintain that minimum 1 tonne payload in order to still qualify.

  • @vauxaholic

    I see loads of these each day, I might be wrong but they are classed as a commercial vehicle and you get some tax breaks with HMRC?

    • @xj358
      @xj358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Must have a minimum 1000kg payload to qualify for the commercial vehicle tax concession in the UK which this particular Wildtrak doesn't have due to the fitting of the roller shutter as an accessory. Hence the reason why Ford doesn't fit them as standard on UK Wildtraks only.

    • @ashleycullen.933
      @ashleycullen.933 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every ranger apart from raptor qualifies for this lesser tax.

    • @xj358
      @xj358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ashleycullen.933 Spot on mate. However, Ford UK's own official specifications has a disclaimer against only the Wildtrak payload figures regarding the subsequent fitting of the roller shutter or canopy as an accessory which HMRC consider as fixed accessories and therefore a new payload must be declared if subsequently fitted. The fitting of either of these fixed accessories on to the Wildtrak pulls the payload below HMRC's minimum 1000kg in order to be classed as a commercial vehicle in the UK. Hence the reason why Ford had to take the decision not to fit the roller shutter as standard for the UK market. For all other markets around the world where there is no minimum payload requirement in order to be classed as a commercial vehicle, Ford fit the roller shutter as standard on the Wildtrak straight out of the factory with the following official Ford payload figures...... Wildtrak 4x4 2.0 Bi Turbo 954kg. Wildtrak 4x4 3.2 manual 940kg. Wildtrak 4x4 3.2 auto 922kg. As such, non of these could be classed as a commercial vehicle in the UK which again, this is why the roller shutter isn't fitted as standard on the Wildtrak for the UK market and must be declared if later fitted as a fixed accessory. We all know the powers of the HMRC to order repayment if they discover several years of claiming a deduction for something that didn't actually qualify as a deduction.

    Known of 4 of these with various friends and through work and they all leaked into the rear bed through the retractable cover. The connection between the cover and the rails leaks

    • @xj358
      @xj358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The main issue with UK Wildtraks leaking water in to the rear tub is that most of them fail to fit the Ford OEM rubber tailgate seal when they fit the roller shutter as an accessory, (including the Wildtrak in this video). Ford deliberately doesn't fit the tailgate seal to UK Wildtraks as standard because they don't fit the roller shutter as standard for the UK market in order to get them over the line with HMRCs minimum 1000kg payload requirement to be classed as a commercial vehicle. Once the roller shutter is fitted as an accessory, the tailgate seal also needs to be fitted.

    2014 T6 mk5 owner... I wouldn't part with mine. Just brilliant, mine is privately owned, so I paid the VAT, I pay the excise duty, I've got a Leisure Insurance policy. So basically it is my errands vehicle (going the garden centre / ikea etc) then at weekends it is our going out and about vehicles (Bikes on bed, tents, equipment). It is super practical, easy to maintain (15min timer on oil change always gives me a heart in mouth moment) cheap parts, tons of Mods and upgrades on ebay etc. My only gripe is the electrical system and CANBUS you mess up that with simple things like bulb changes in lights - then the BCM kicks in with errors and your lights won't low beam etc (essentially you have to go to electronics specialist to clear the errors or pay FORD £100 to basically hit ok and restart the computer). You can only reset X amount of times then its £900 for a new BCM and reprogramming your key fobs etc. The person who designed that system should be put in stocks and have rocks thrown at them. It is a big gripe, but if you don't mess with the electrics you are good.
