Respect and props to the SHR guys for all their hard work and making those cars awesome. But as a fan, definitely one of the more lackluster Talladega races in some time. I know it's like the old days but that's not what we (or I) expect from Talladega now days. The only thing that salvaged this race was the final caution and the fact that Almirolla finally got that W

@@michaelbelcher8805 in the 90s i can say the pull away was there. But in the 2000s? The pull away was not there. In 2008 the COT changed how your drafted. See Denny Hamlin in the 2008 Aarrons 499 in how he turned heads with the first two car tandem ever seen at a plate track. That set the tone for tandem racing from 2009 to 2011. 2012 was a wacky plate package and pretty much looked like 2001 package on meth. 2013 2014 2015 2016 the plate races have resembled alot of the 2000s decade. But 2017 and this years plate races have been very much like the 2000 Daytona 500.

I'm sitting over here waiting for someone to say something like "as if this season wasn't bad enough already" or "nascar is dying". Doesnt every sport go downhill every once in a while? Sure the racing hasn't been all good, that doesn't mean you have to lose faith in nascar. What's also really puzzling is the fact that people claim that the race is boring when every car is taken out and when there are no major wrecks involved. Make up your freaking minds!!

Im not just saying this because Almirola won and being from Tampa I have been rooting for him since he started in the 43, but I thought that race was awesome. I do not need the "big one" to enjoy plate racing at Talladega or Daytona. I thought what SHR did was one of the coolest things I have seen in stock car racing. I love the individualism of NASCAR racing but every once in awhile I love to see true team racing like we did yesterday. So cool

Again people need to realize that SHR had a plan and they executed it, therefore they were able to break away from the rest of the field. Everyone else (with the exception of Penske and a few other good plate racers) raced for themselves and didn't work with others to potentially beat the SHR guys. There is a lot more inexperienced cup plate racers that have never fully experienced it and that is the biggest cause for that to happen. Also keep in mind that every SHR team went towards speed and not handling since they seemed to figure out how to make the cars handle well while giving the cars lots of speed. Finally, SHR has 4 of the most wisest and fastest drivers, of course they are going to be fast! As far as the community, we don't need to see 2 or 3 wide action for a race to be interesting and exciting. The strategies were good all race and there were moments of good racing if you decided not to be so negative about everything.

People whining that not throwing the caution right after the finish line last lap took the win away from kurt. He still wouldn’t win it cause he ran out of fuel in turn 1 midway before turn 2. The rule is you have to be able to make it back to the finish line even under caution and that is a huge track and that 10 wasn’t going to push him to the line and that is not allowed by the rule book anyways. So the 10 had that win under caution or not. Congrats to him. Kurt lost either way, he wasn’t going to be able to coast to the finish line in first by himself out of gas under yellow with that 10 having enough gas to pass him under caution.

@@ZachTaylor2631 I have no ill will or ill intent. I just want the best show possible for Nascar. The race wasnt so bad honestly. But see I came into the sport in the year 2000 so after that HORRIBLE 2000 Daytona 500 I saw plate racing BOOM from the 2000 Diehard 500 to the 2007 Pepsi 400 at Daytona I personally believe that was the GOLDEN YEARS of plate racing. Those 8 years I believe truly SPOILED me. I mean it would be hard pressed to find a race at any point and time where the break away was that effective. No matter how strong DEI HMS RR RCR or JGR were it didnt equate to the break away being so effective as it was this past Sunday. Instead there was much 3 and 4 wide throughout the race. The race calming down was saw them still running 2 wide for the lead all the way through the pack most times as well. Even when they were about to pit they'd still be 3 and 4 wide. Im not making this up because i havent missed a race since the 2000 Daytona 500 lol. Now the quality of drivers who were plate aces also must not be overlooked as to why the quality of plate racing was better then as well. Sterling Marlin Michael Waltrip Dale Jarrett Dale Earnhardt Jr. Tony Stewart Matt Kenseth Jamie McMurray Carl Edwards Jeff Gordon Bobby Labonte Kurt Busch Jimmie Johnson Kasey Kahne Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick before he did that bullshit in fall 2015. Where are most off these drivers today? On the way out or retired. I dont believe todays generation is garbage. I believe they all have incredible talent. I think this new generation could get more aggressive at plate tracks. But i believe that will come with time and experience just as it did for the aforementioned drivers i mentioned. And btw i hate the big one. Always have always will 🏁
