The SF Shock has millions in reserve from all the championships (or close to championship finishes) with unmatched management. You'll have a Proper future 😏
What do you mean losing? You had 1 bad year year 1, 2 championship years, and 1 year you were still in the top 5 or so in league? Lol. Try being a charge, Paris, London, valiant, Phili, NYXL fan? Is having 1 just okay year after 2 championship years that bad? Lol. You literally only have 1 very bad year period. Wtf are you talking about? Sounding spoiled as all hell
Honestly I'm happy with Glads, they had their best season, winning back to back tournaments which only shock and shanghai have done, had players in the MVP and ROTY conversation all season long, their summer showdown was bad but even towards the end when space was playing JQ they were apparently one of the best in scrims, despire losing 2 instrumental dps players they went 6-0 in the countdown cup. The meta escaped them in the playoffs mainly due to dps inflexibility which is disappointing. But despite that they were one of the best teams all season long.
Yeah I think people are a little unfair towards the Glads in the back half of the season. It's like the completely ignore that they lost one of their starting players due to injury whom was a huge key to their success. Obviously they underperformed in the Playoffs but people act like it was the same exact roster that won the first two stages, which isn't true. Pati's flexibility to allow Kevster to play the heroes he is cracked on allowed them to dominate in a way Happy couldn't fill. It is unfair to compare the front and back half of the season to each other.
I'll say this for NYXL. I actually was pretty impressed with year 1 of their rebuild when they were in the East. For year 1, they got a decent amount of wins and even made a tournament one stage. But this 2nd year after Jjonak left, not great of course. So something pretty bad happened along the way
I'm looking back at this video and how it got many things right and how there were a mega ton of upsets, trades and everything... especially about Chengdu
its seasons like these that really show the problems in franchise leagues for me, you have plenty of teams doing well but you also have these teams like the Valiant, Eternal and Boston that are too broke to afford a truly competitive roster but cant really do anything about it. Compare that to an esport like CSGO where teams drop down to compete in lower tiers all the time, if their roster cant compete they can go down a tier, win a few things, retool and run it back. OWL's biggest problem is that OWL teams are *_OWL teams._* They cant go anywhere else. If OWL was an open format where any team could compete or if they even let lower tier franchise teams compete in contenders the league overall could be far more competitive, we already know OWL teams often scrim high tier contenders rosters like O2 Blast anyways. Currently OWL is in sort of a state where the rich get richer, its no coincidence that most of the teams that were competitive this year have over a million in total winnings, they have the money to win.
I think this is more to do with Pati having to retire due to injury than just overexertion. His flexibility to allow Kevster to do his thing was a fundamental block of what made the team successful and people are kind of ignoring how drastically his retirement affected the team.
As a Houston fan, I'm quite excited about the future. There was already investment in the team when we weren't achieving but that 3rd place finish gives us so much more money to spend too. Just hope pelican stays because I truly believe he can be even better next season than he was this season
I think one thing Houston has always had, even when they weren't winning was marketability. They were the scrappy underdog a lot of people were cheering for, they had personality, western and eastern players, and likeable players in people like Jake around. Now they have really good coaching core and players to go along with what they had. For this being their first really successful year, they have a lot already :)
Its insane how broken having o2 blast as your academy team is they can just straight up pick heesang (proper 2.0), bliss (insane main support something they really needed this year) and max (not sure how good max is tho)
Do you think that if Shanghai rebuild with a new core that they’ll be able to what shock did this year? I feel they have lots of potential to if they get some good talent from Korean and Chinese contenders
Possibly? But the fact still remains they just will have less good teams to scrim and play against than the west. It's unfair, but true. :( one thing that made the West teams seem cleaner and more practiced is the wealth of different opponents and strategies they could develop compared to only 7 teams (like 2 of which were not relevant most of the year, and 1 is Hunters, so maybe 4 legitimate teams, 1 being your own team, and 1 was Spark who were very down half the year, so 2 teams in Phili and Seoul from Dragons point of view this last year) that does not make great conducive practice. Which is why i think they do need to add more teams to the East some how or allow inter-region scrimming if they don't already
So overall this season was an awesome season the top teams will be in every playoff tournament no matter what, teams in the middle of the pack are competitive and promising towards other teams, and the teams below need multiple changes like now such as hardly moving spots up in power rankings, almost never making the playoffs, and need solid coaching. The best thing I can say is looking at the contender teams to see who gets picked up for a chance to prove themselves.
As a Justice enjoyer here, man it is booming to have a season like that. To lose MaG, Happy and vigilante in the middle of the season is just booming. I’m surprised that they still managed to be competitive and beat teams like the Shock, however seeing the rest of the season showed that there was meant to be more of a future for the younger talent to fit into the team. It sucks to see the team just attempt the same moves as the Titans and try to drop their full roster. Even now I’m boomed for the future.
Titans: start playing way better with dpei in the latter half of the season Some heretic: cast it into the fire! Destroy it! Titans fans: no. Titans management: ok.
vancouver dropping dpei gotta be the most mindboggling decision ive ever seen, assuming they did drop him and he didnt dip himself which is mad understandable
That Gladiators section, sheeeeeesh. But honestly, I feel a majority of teams have improved and hope the ones that didn't will have a great comeback story!
Seeing Shanghai go out so soon hurt to see but not legacy will last forever we had a good three years and it was eventually going to end And seeing Dallas win and fearless get here a mvp made it all worth it now the 2020 roster are all champs now
I think people are a little unfair towards the Glads in the back half of the season. It's like the completely ignore that they lost one of their starting players due to injury whom was clearly a huge key to their success. Obviously they underperformed in the Playoffs but people act like it was the same exact roster that won the first two stages, and should be playing exactly as well, which is frankly ridiculous. Pati's flexibility to allow Kevster to play the heroes he is cracked on allowed them to dominate in a way Happy couldn't fill. It is unfair to compare the front and back half of their season to each other.
@@drkirbkennethkirby7634 People world wide have less money to spend though right? So sponsorships probably won't be worth as much? I hope I'm wrong, I love the league. Maybe the fact that OW2 is free to play now does help? Larger player base for now atleast. I hope that compensates and the league will become profitable for the teams.
Might just be me, but I feel like Yaki maybe can't play with the team as well as others? Individually he can be very good, but never seems to play with the team (well enough). Bit comparable to Decay in that way imo. That said, Yaki's team often is sub-par compared to the rest
Honestly? ATP kept me watching OWL this year since all my favorite players from the old shock roster had already left, glad I stuck around, amazing stuff from the new shock team, also striker is still blazing somehow, can never sleep on that guy
Okay philly fan here, hear me out. If we like, signed proper right, hear me out again, then we got super out of retirement, hear me out one more time, we got lip, hear me out rq, then we got viol2t and chiyo, hear me out, then we got hanbin while keeping carpe, we'd be able to come 2nd in playoffs again, it'd be so hype
I’d say Boston’s biggest fault this year was their coach. Trying to put in mag when punk has a higher win rate (for what seemed to be making a full Korean roster as the only reason). We did much better after Lori left
I think the top potential trade this off-season isn't a superstar like proper, profit, or fearless. I think it's going to be pelican. Last year showed that having a good flex is extremely good as the top team of the first half of last year didn't even have hitscan. So that ended up being extremely important. Now hitscan is hot, but most teams had lackluster flex damage. Pelican mixed to improve sparks aggression and utility would be AMAZING. That and I also want Dallas moving to Apac since I don't forsee Edison staying with the fuel. Edison is too hot right now and I don't think he meshed with the fuel nearly as well. I think he'll leave and hope Dallas goes to Apac to bring Xzi back. Either that or grab decay for another potential story
I feel like Nero's career is dead. He's been on multiple really good teams and surrounded by really good players season after season, yet never achieves anything, never reaches superstar level, and gets dropped. He couldn't have had better opportunities
Idk, I think Toronto were still pretty mid this year. Exactly middle. They had one popoff stage in a wacky meta where almost everybody was shaken around, but otherwise weren't much of a problem for good teams. They may not trash the whole roster this year, but that's also what we thought the last two years.
@@blaynegreiner9365 I don't think I said that. check my comment again. I said other top teams this year had a dip in performance in at least a stage but the shock
How can Glads “do better” if they lost two of their dps. One of them being flex which was crucial. They literally pulled up someone half way through the season and you expect to him to have synergy with the teammates. Literal hater.
This is what I'm saying, though I don't think people are necessarily being "haters." They are just undervaluing, or straight up ignoring, how pivotal Pati's role in the team was. People are acting like the roster didn't change from the first half to the second half, which is just weird to me. People do love to hate on the Gladiators, though. They always have for some reason lol
As an Outlaws fan, I’m proud of what they did! Like you said with one keyword despite the constant ups and downs, “Hope.”
