  • Silver Comet is a Custom Coasters International wood coaster at Niagara Amusement Park. The ride opened back in 1999 when the park was known as Martin's Fantasy Island, but its future was in doubt after Apex closed the park after the 2019 season. The ride recently reopened in 2022 after remaining closed for a few years! But how is it currently riding? Find out in this review.

Gene Staples is a saint, he saved so many failing parks. We need to support this new park Chain and frequently visit these places.

The vintage POV’s of this ride show it tearing through that middle section. Hopefully a few more years of track work can give it a little more speed through the course.
    Great review as always!

I was thrilled they were able to get the ride open. When I rode it at the end of August, I found it to be fast and surprisingly smooth. I was impressed with the work they did on the ride. And that bodes well for the coming years.

Certainly glad to hear this park is open again. Really like the looks of this coaster. Same company that built the Mega Zeph at the former Six Flags New Orleans park.

OMG, that Crystal Beach Cyclone looks insane, the things they came up with when there was next to no safety regulations, or very low ones boggles the mind.

I haven't visited this park yet. At Clementon, Hellcat never opened for me. At Indiana Beach a month ago, Cornball Express opened a few hours late. They have plenty of other rides that kept me occupied until it opened, so I didn't think much of it, but it does sound like a trend. I'm still so happy to see all these parks open again.

I'm surprised at the lack of airtime you experienced. I haven't been able to get over there yet (despite it practically being in my backyard...), but it used to have quite a bit not all that long ago. Sitting left to rot for those couple of years probably did quite the number on it unfortunately...

@@ThrillsofColdplay Unfortunately life has been getting in the way and with the end of the season approaching it's unlikely to happen this year. I wonder if they were loading the trains or sending them half empty, if that might’ve made the pacing suffer.

    • @CanobieCoaster

Most of my rides were with just 4-6 people onboard, but I didn't have much of a difference with a near full train.

Crystal Beach is on Lake Erie, not Lake Ontario.
A nurse/paramedic stationed at the Cyclone has not been substantiated.

saying the way you described this ride, i might skip this park next year unless the shuttle loop is opened by then. (I can only go to one park in the western new york area, so with just this coaster i think id rather go to darien lake again)

    • @chrismdb5686
      @chrismdb5686 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The plan is to have (at least) three coasters operating next season: The Silver Comet, Lightning Loop (the shuttle loop from La Feria de Chapultepec), and a Galaxi Coaster. There's plans for a number of flat rides as well, just depends on how fast they can get everything cleaned up and put together.

What's your least favorite first drop on a CCI wooden coaster, of all you've ridden, if you include family and junior ones, and if you exclude family and junior ones?

But Laterals are a bad thing, it's a sign the ride wasn't designed well, great coasters have no laterals thanks to perfect banking, like I305

@@CanobieCoaster But that feels really uncomfortable, if I wanted to be thrown around, I would ride a wild mouse or drive my car fast around a corner. I want my turns banked perfectly, pushing me into my seat, not into the poor stranger beside me

@@CanobieCoaster but they will. Cars are larger and put stress on the track. Coaster wasn't designed to run ptc trains.
