    Right place at the right time and it helps to know someone or be part of.
    What a large operation there. I would be just amazed to be able to see all this and I must say you are so lucky to be able to do that.
    I worked at the railway for the last 31 years of my working life and it would be about what you see and do.
    Not the same but very few would ever see what goes on in the operation of different parts of the railway.
    I only wish that I had the technology back then to have what we have now to produce videos. I could have made so many of them but it didn't happen as it was not in this area.
    Thanks for posting your great videos and keep them coming I really enjoy seeing what you video and explain to your viewers.

    You should do a video riding in the combines with these guys

    • @bigtractorpower

      We have some ride along videos with this farm in beans and corn in our archives. We did not get one in wheat this year. We do have a 20 minute video of all 9 combines working from the ground. In that video they have a demo unit from Claas in addition to all of the S690s.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have 10,000 plus acres of corn, 10,000 acres of wheat that goes into double crop soybeans. They plant 300 acres of tobacco and raise 600 acres of hay for their cattle.

    What would be a typical efficiency for this model of combine? I mean to say what percentage of the grain goes on the ground?

  • @tsint
    @tsint 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice, I guess this belongs to some custom harvesting and not a single farm?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a family farms' combines not a custom crew.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They like MacDon. They droned a 45ft Deere but liked the MacDon set up better. We have s video of the Deere demo in our video archives on TH-cam. Search 6 S690 combines.

    Are the machines traded out every year

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Five of the combines are new each year. Three are held over from the prior year. Five combines are 2016 models and three are 2015 models. The 9420R 4wds are 2016 models and traded each year.

    Isn't 8 big combines overkill for 10,000 acres of wheat. My buddy in Montana harvests 10,000 acres with 3 combines.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this area most farms run one combine for each 1,000 acres of wheat. There are two factors. The first is they want to cut as fast as possible because soybeans are drilled in right behind the combines. You want your seed in as early as possible to beat the summer heat during the blossom stage of the bean. The second factor is rain. We have heavy thunderstorms and that can delay harvesting, delay soybean planting and cause disease in the grain.
