  • Stephanie Woods, a 20 year old holiday entertainer from Skelmersdale, Lancashire returns to the X Factor stage, but her second performance is not as successful as her studio audition. Stephanie previously entered the X Factor and got to Sharon's judges house when she was 14. Sharon was touched by Stephanie's performance in her first audition but is not so impressed with her rendition of 'I Drove All Night' by Celine Dion at the arena.
However; Stephanie is given another chance to sing, and performs 'Songbird' by Eva Cassidy.

She's so beautiful and has an amazing voice, i wish she got through to live shows. Sharon should have put her to live shows in 2007. Good luck Stephanie :)

Gary: "Why sing something so old-fashioned for such a young girl?"
I say: "Sorry I didn't know there was an expiration date in music."

when one says 'old-fashioned' in the music world, typically it's referring to maturity level. If you listen to the lyrics of I Drove All Night, it's a generally more mature song- something a woman in her 40's would relate to moreso than a young 20 year old. :)

she has an AMAZING voice the "RUN" audition gave me chills and only Glennis Grace did that for me! but there was something raw and natural in her voice and tone that told a story that spoke to me.... and thats what I look for! if your voice tells a story and I get goosebumps then you're the real deal! leona lewis did that to me and she won! so yeah! we all have oldies songs we love and it may not sound good in the tone we sing those songs in this era like donna summer's or Chaka khan or anita baker but no one is coaching us at this point... which is dumb they should at least do a preview before these talented people go on, to be embarrassed by the judges!!! but its all about their money and ratings so why would they care but "song choice is key to getting to the next step!" thank god she was there before and they knew she had talent from the audition or shed never made it! sad to think how many other singers made the wrong song choices and didn't get through!!!

I suppose he would have said no to Jackie Evancho. She sang an opera aria much older than that. Very old fashioned!

Glad she sang second song. Great call Gary. Older songs need to be modernized for current trend in sales and marketing.

Thing is Celine herself doesn't sing that song live, it's a bunch of sustained notes that sound better in the studio anyway.

I think ALL contestants should to have to sing TWO clips. But to stop the first because it was not modern enough for his highness it STUPID. - I enjoyed both songs for different reasons.

De quoi il parle lorsqu'il dit qu'une chanson de Céline Dion est trop vieille pour elle. De quoi il parle? Tu peux reprendre une chanson des années vingt et même du Moyen Âge. Ça dépend de ton interprétation.
