They finally were able to “clean up” the family enough to show them. The best part of the “family” is they put him in foster care, never raised him or took him in are now looking to get paid! You can’t tell me they couldn’t find their own son in NYC. This lawyer is good weaving those lies.

It makes you not want to help anybody at all if race is a factor. I would stay out of it unless I myself was physically assaulted.
I doubt Penny wanted to kill a black man that day. Touching a person of color at all will destroy your life even if they are endangering others.

Yall apparently are talking either out the ass or self projecting. People with mental illness rarely listen to family's advices. They also state Jordan didn't want his family to see what he going through that's why he didn't live with them. Quit making assumptions, his family cared. You fail to understand the situation. Whatever his past was, not one person on that train had prior knowledge of that. No one on the train claimed him to be an imminent, physical threat. With these things being said, the marine did not just take down a "threat". He killed a person. And in a civilized society you have to answer for that.
There were so many other options. It was a train car full of people, no weapon, he was just ranting. If some felt they had to detain him while the authorities came, then all they had to to do was hold him down by the apendages like the other two men did. A chokehold is for only one purpose; to cut breath. No other person than that marine would know better. Why? Because he was trained to know something a child would knows from common sense. He knew very well what a chokehold could lead to; he was probably given diagrams, stats, medical explanations as to how to use a chokehold effectively. As a marine, he knew what a chokehold was and could do. For him, it was not from just a place of common knowledge. In addition, like everyone else, he knew about George Floyd.
This tragic incident tells us something about the marine as well. There was something in him that made him decide to use a chokehold and to hold the victim in that position for that long. He didn't use a chokehold to initially get him down and then let go or ease up as the others restricted him. No, he held him in a chokehold until there was no breath.
Society can't operate on a "oh well, he was a bad guy anyway" justice system.
The courts will take all of this into consideration and that's why he is not being charged with murder but manslaughter. Everything else is secondary, his family, his past, does not matter. What matters is that another human being is now dead. Without these due dilligence, our world would be in chaos and in ruins.
