Oh my god yes. Back in the "good old days" when we used cheat engines like Gameshark, Action Replay, and Code Breaker, that was the manner in doing it. All lines of code that would just change sprites around. This also worked with color pallets as well! When Sonic X debut the "Dark Sonic" transformation, every edgy teen just HAD to play as Dark Super Sonic/ Dark Sonic in every game. Eventually someone made the codes to change Super Sonic from the color scheme he has normally to the Dark Sonic/ Super forms color scheme. It was all the rage back in the late 2000's. Now all we need to do is replace the model or replace a texture and WALLA, the character's there.
