Btw, a tiny sugestion for future macbook repairs. There is no need to remove the screws and disconnect the connectors that are in the side of the display board. Only the big one in the center has to be undone. The screws are only bond to that part of board and not to the chasis :) I realized too late while reassembling so hahah you aren't the only one ;)
If you don't quite get what I mean I'll try to explain myself better.
@@CBGX the replacement screen didn't come with the metal plates, so I had to transfer them from the old screen.

@@CBGX yup, otherwise a small bump could cause them to disconnect and there will be problems.

Great tutorial! Thank you! BTW, Some T sizes you mentioned in the video are one size bigger than what you said. e.g. six large bolts which hold the screen are T9, not T8. @17:56
I always use T8 and don't have any issues. I'll try t9 next time to see if it's a tighter fit next time. Usually it's the screwdriver set is slightly off in measurement.
You are right. I checked other videos. People use T8 for the display bolts. I used cheap and poor quality TEKPREM tools 8 in 1.
@@apivovarov2 that's good though that you used the largest one that fit. That's how you prevent stripping the screws. :) Using a loose bit is almost a sure way to damage the head of a screw.

I had my earbuds min yesterday and took them out and was holding them in my hand while closeting the cover. I hardly kissed the screen but it was enough to crack it. This video gives me confidence to buy the part and change it myself. Quoted $900 CDN and $700 CDN to repair a device bought on sale 18 months ago for $1100. Part cost $467 CDN. The charger issue got me breathing again as I have the OEM charger. Great video and a saviour. Thanks so much.

I checked all reviews, little confused, about the true tune, and camera ~ I know the True Tone might not work because of not the original one, also the keyboard screen light keys, plus and minus, will work for the screen?

Does this particular model have any camera cables? After replacing the screen twice, the camera is no longer recognized in the hardware.
You need to have a screen with truetone capability. I think once you connect one without it, it won't work anymore. :(

Got it all back together and up and running. However my battery won’t charge. I have the mac air 2020 m1. Only a 50 cycle count. I bought this from someone who said everything was working perfectly except their child cracked the screen. I’m trying everything. I need help brother!
Not sure. Never did an lcd only replacement. It's possible Apple has some security that messes up your computer if you do something wrong.

I had my macbook display replaced by an authorized apple reseller, and they somehow managed to misalign the display, so could I just get it lined up correctly without opening the lid while doing so?

Amazing video, I can loosen the screws for the screen (17:50) using a T8 but a T9 is to large. Any advice? Are they just really tight?
Not sure what you mean. T8 is correct.

@ella sharman as long as the screwdriver isn't slipping, you just have to twist harder.

This set is very good quality amzn.to/3NVsF61 Normally I don't go for the branded stuff like this, but they are much better. Only thing it doesn't have like the cheaper sets is the extension thing. I feel it needs that.
Thank you! For Mac repairs we usually need Torx T3, T4, T5, T8 plus Star Pentalobe P2 0.8mm and P5 1.2 mm. iFixit Minnow Driver Kit 16 Precision Bits should work (just $15)

If you can't do it, the easiest way is to pay someone to do it. Lol I don't know what else to tell you. Use magic or drill them out?

They won't turn? Is your screwdriver slipping? If they just won't turn, try with some rubber gloves on, or wrap rubber bands around it to make the handle thicker for more torque.

Yes. You want to make sure with the seller you get the right screen.

Hi, unfortunately my computer fell a year ago and I took it to be repaired not at an Apple center. I also paid quite a bit but they changed the entire screen and therefore the body of the computer, also changing the colour. My m1 went from space gray to silver... in addition to the aesthetic aspect which bothers me, a lot of pixels started to burn. Now I would like to fix the original screen and keep as many original pieces as possible. I would therefore like to replace the LCD display of my old monitor. Can you tell me where you got yours? I've seen some on aliexpress at low figures but I'm afraid the pixel problem will return. Furthermore, I'm really having trouble listening to English, couldn't you please write a list with all the steps?
even the entire sheath around the display has been ruined, it almost looks like it's been nibbled/cooked... really low quality rubbish. :(

The T5 screw was stripping my screw as well (it was stripping the screws on the right but on the ones on the left side for some reason) so I just used a 1.5 flathead and it worked

This will have all the bits you need amzn.to/3THpUbk don't buy singular screwdrivers. Follow along in the video. I don't tell specific bits right at the beginning because then people will skip around and mess up their devices. It's very important to follow exactly.

@@alexwharton7407 Got my confirmation the day after.... you NEED the charger to turn it on the first time. Possibly the original one from Apple.
Why ask? Just try it and find out. It's not recommended using a non apple charger on your Apple device. It can mess up the battery and even fry the motherboard. Just because it fits in the hole, doesn't mean you should put it in there. That goes for non computer stuff as well, if you know what I mean. Lol
