Pokémon: Red Version is part of the first generation of games within its famous series, known for having a very large number of beneficial glitches. In fact, the game can be completed in less than one minute of in-game time by save data corruption as shown by , and it can be completed in around 10 minutes using a more "conventional" glitch, as shown by . These runs break the game, and avoid much of the gameplay intended by the developers.
In contrast, this run by MrWint ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/M... ) catches all 151 Pokémon and completes the game, showing off much more of the game than seen in the other runs while still using many glitches to complete this goal much faster than the programmers could have imagined. They probably have to re-record to get the correct luck for the opposing Pokémon's attacks.

It's the amount of times the game was reverted back a step to retry the. The rerecords happen when either an input didn't give the desired outcome or even to re-optimize parts of the run completely.

It skips Mt. Moon and all the fights up to mount moon and heads straight to saffron. It saves 10 minutes. There's a reason there's a meme about being unable to keep a good time in Blue 151 due to 10 minute time saves.

A re-record is whenever something is redone in the movie. Mr Wint didn't manually load savestates 37 million times in this case. He used a bot for parts of the movie

Mew was kept around for Dig, Surf and Fly. And Poké Centers are only used thrice ever in the run, so it's not like it makes a large difference.

How this is different than the Shenanagans (Former World Record at like 1:47) they all both used same technique ...
The non-TAS run you mention was published almost one year later, so I suppose that in that time some new tech/route was discovered that cut down the completition time. You can notice that there are definitelly some differences by the tech they use to get teleported to Dr Oak at the end.

Well first off, red is harder and takes longer, simply because of certain version differences.
What parts were rerecorded? Seriously, that wouldn't be possible even just restarting after only one hour in; that would literally take over 4000 years.

A rerecord is counted every time a savestate is loaded in an attempt to get things to go slightly differently.

My favorite part of this TAS is every Pokémon encountered is not only manipulated to appear, but the stronger ones are manipulated to not dodge the Pokeball, but are also manipulated to *stay* in the weakest ball in the game. Absolutely great and entertaining TAS in my opinion compared to the newest one.

Oh you just wait and see... Hint: In Red and Blue, you cannot get several pokemon without trading another player who has the opposite color game. You also cannot get all 3 starters, or get Mew legitimately. He does all of that.

it seems like it would be faster at the pokecenters to only have one pokemon in your party, yet you chose to have mew there the whole time.
it would be quicker to catch the pokemon in real life, but in the TAS world, you are trying to go even faster than the easiest way to do it. meaning the hardest but fastest way is the way you have to do it

missingno glitch gave him every item he need, notice he didn't need to get old amber nor dome fossil from original place or holder to get fossil pokes.
You can teleport using teleport (Pokemon move) And wake up Snorlax by using PokeFlute
