      Thank you for watching! We mostly travel in the off season when things are a little calmer. Sunny weekends and holidays year-round and June 15-September 15 the Italian Riviera gets really busy and lively!

    Actually Santa Margherita was originally two different villages: Pescino and Corte. During Napoleon's occupation, Piedmont and Liguria were annexed to France and the two municipalities were united to form the new city of "Port Napoleon". In 1815, with the Congress of Vienna, the Kingdom of Sardinia (Piedmont+Savoy+Nice+Sardinia) was restored, but the former Republic of Genoa was given to the King of Sardinia. Under the Savoy State the name of the town was changed in Santa Margherita Ligure. The tiny beach of Niasca, just a short walk away from Paraggi, for just a few meters belongs to the municipality of Portofino. It's in a beautiful cove and it's a public beach. It's one of my favorite places to swimm, but in the summer it's very crowdy. My suggestion is to come to Niasca very early in the mornig: 7 or 8 am. It's gorgeous. It's also lovely in the evening, but in the afternoon the cove it's in the shade, so you miss the emerald and blue of the water. San Michele di Pagana is also a stunning little village. I love it.

    In 2016, my husband and I took a 2 week trip driving all around Italy. We drove to Portofino for a quick stop and back in the car. I didn't know anything about the surrounding towns or beaches. Watching your video, I thought Paraji Beach looked familiar so I took pulled up my pics from our 2016 trip. Yep - I took a picture of Paraji Beach from the road as we were driving. The pink building behind the green structure used to be yellow!

    You are inspiring my husband and I. We are looking to rent for a month or 2 next summer. If you were going to stay on the Ligurian coast for a month or 2 which town or area would be your favorite?

    • @happygoluckytravel
      @happygoluckytravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! So excited for you and your upcoming trip! Picking favorites is so hard because everyone likes different things. And during the summer the whole personality of a place can change a bit because the beach clubs set up and everything is pretty crowded. The Portofino Peninsula is a unique area, so staying in Santa or Camogli would give you a great base to explore from there, both have a train station that connects you up and down the coast. Lerici is also lovely, a little more isolated without train access if you don't have a car. Your Lerici accommodation should provide you with a parking pass inside the ZTL zone, or having a car will be a nightmare. Happy travels!

    Do they truck the sand in? Yes the other beaches were Rocky!

    • @happygoluckytravel
      @happygoluckytravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! From the feel of it, and also since there are a few other sandy beaches in Liguria (Lerici, Sestri Levante bay of Silence side, Monterosso for example), I would guess it's real. Anyone else know? Thank you for watching!
