The story of Phil Jones is quite a tragic one. for the first few years, he was insane, scoring goals, putting in tackles... But then came the injuries. He tried time and again to find his feet once more, but sadly never could. That game against Wolves reminded us of what he used to be. Goodbye, Phil, you may have become a meme in recent times, but we will never forget you.

It's sad to see what constant injuries does to a player. He put his heart out whenever he got chance. Thank you for your service, Philly.

He got a wicked knee injury during his time at Blackburn and they did a garbage job at taking care of it and making sure it healed properly and it never properly healed right due to their negligence.
That same injury is the one that has plagued him his entire career almost every time he's been hurt it's been due to that same knee injury flaring up again
Love Phil Jones. Had two years off from first team football and came back against Wolves. Played better than any other defender we had and got a standing ovation when he walked off. The man was in tears but showed what a true professional he was. Absolute class. Best of Luck Phil.
Exactly, he showed the grit needed to play for Man Utd. The others were a disgrace at the time.
I watched that game. He was solid throughout and easily the best man utd player that game. Never in my mind I would see jones out perform/ have a better match rating than an inform ronaldo who was containing our embarrassments all season

@@videozippydirector8764 Guessing you're too young to have seen him before his major injuries. He was fantastic at Blackburn at 19 and in his first couple of seasons at Utd. Even with a destroyed knee he did everything he could. Unfortunately the 'meme' generation have the attention span of a gnat and get their worldview from youtube compilations rather than from watching games.
Fergie backed him to be one of Englands best. Crappy luck and worse people pegged him down his whole career. He never gave less than everything and deserves more respect than he's been given.

Gave everything whenever he played for us. Put his body on the line and helped the team throughout his career. I will never forget about his masterful performance in central midfield against Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2013.

He was the 2nd last remaining player from our PL winning eras. He have career-ending injuries over and over again. Try to be fit and manage to make one comeback and he is the best CD in that game (albeit we lost) and injured again.
He is a class act despite all that hardness and it deserves credit.

Phil is such a legend hey. No matter the injuries. I still remember when Nemanja and Rio were at their peak, when one of them got injured, either Phil or Johnny would step in and you would not notice the difference! That speaks volumes of the experienced CB that would play alongside Phil or Johnny but also speaks volumes about how teachable the lads were during Sir Alex's time. You're a legend Phil and we love you!❤
um, u'd noticed either a "og" or red card if one of them started 30%-45% but not wrong in being able to step in when needed 👍

He isn't, it's a persistent injury that will forever cause him problems. Almost ALL of his injuries have been related to his knee because Blackburn did a bang up job taking care of it back when it initially happened because they cared more about him getting back in the pitch for them instead of making sure PHIL was right instead. Liverpool did the same thing to Michael Owen
Never forget his performance against Real Madrid. Without injuries, who knows how far he would’ve got.
I always felt bad for him coz the injury but after listening and reading about his struggles, it crushed me. He really tried to get back and it just didn't work for him. All the very best Phil in the next chapter of your career.

I saw the potential in him when he was at Blackburn. He would've been the best English centre back for the last 7/8 years had it not been for injuries. A real shame that the injuries hampered his career. Nevertheless as a United fan, I'd like to thank him for all his efforts for our club. Wishing you the best in your next steps.

Really gutted to see what he must have went throughout his injury hell. I personally think it speaks volumes about his character when he declined the testimonial. I personally think he should have accepted it. A lot of people would have turned out to appreciate him.
