To be honest, even the fans turned against Ronaldo. No one wanted him nor support him at his toughest time. They kept on blaming ronaldo for everything. But if u take a closer look you can see that even though he didn't run as much as he used to he was always in a place where he was favourable to score goals from yet his teammates never passed on to him and took the shots themselves. I would have really liked the trio CR7 - Varane - Casemiro to have been able to evolve longer together as starters. I'm sure he would have been a hit. When CR7 was in good shape, Manchester United had too unreliable a midfielder. Added to this the fact that Varane has been injured for a long time.
