Man, I miss mowing with a Turf Tiger. Grew up making my money on a 52" Scag TT in the 90's.
They must be incredible nowadays!

I have an older 36 freedom Z , that's a beast, got a good set up
Nothings sits lower than the freedom. We love that mower and the big air filter kohler has went to blows away the competitors in that class. My only complaint is climbing out of that thing once ive mowed for a couple of hours. It needs an old man bar to grab 😂

Scag mentioned (2018 Tiger 2 vid) that the van guard 37 EFI sips fuel - more torque than their diesel. No bogging in wet or thick grass. Does Scag have a suspension like a Ferris/BadBoy? How do they ride in rough stuff ? The TT2 with driveshaft/gas tanks under (low COG) is good design. You’re a good dealer. 👍 Not many out here. Thanks!
The cheetah has a suspension. The efi big blocks are still about double on consumption over diesel, but the diesels are over 20k now.
You liberty z appears to be a 20 model, i just got a 21, they added a deck lock lever, and their is no longer a hydro reservoir.
Thanks for the info would you say the scag Patriot cuts better than the brands in its class against the exmark, bobcat, gravely, or even the maverick or compact outlaw what is the Patriots blade tip speed ? The more I study mowers the deeper I’m getting I’m trying to make the best purchase, thanks again for your videos n all the help so far .
If you will look on my fb page and scroll down to last years post I posted a ton of patriot cut pics. Sadly it cuts better than most brands and it doesn’t even have the velocity deck on it. The patriots blade tip is maximum allowed which is in line with everyone else. The only one that crosses that line is zipper. Of course it really depends on the grass types some cut better certain grasses than others. I can take the gravely with the adjustable baffles in the front and make it cut most grasses perfectly awesome, but it takes adjusting it out almost every yard. Most people want a pretty universal cut. Grasshopper, bad boy r series, tiger cat and up Scag, new Ferris icd, hustler vx4 etc have good universal decks.
For example if you cut on a compact outlaw or maverick bad boy, then cut on the stander with the r series deck. You’ll hate the other 2. If you don’t you won’t ever know..
Does the Scag Patriot have 3400 pumps as you said or 3100 pumps as I’ve read elsewhere? I’m wanting to buy one but want the 3400 pumps. Thanks for your videos!.
52 is 3100 (which is weird to me) and the 61” is 3400’s. I guess that explains the $500 price difference...

Love the suspension seat on my Cheetah, but we’ve got an account out towards Petty that’s 5 acres of spine rattling mowing. May need to upgrade to a Turf Tiger at some point in the future.
Edit: Got the 27hp Kawasaki on my Cheetah and have never had it bog down even in heavy clover. Can’t imagine what one of those 37hp monsters is like.
My boss has a 37 horse for his house and part of the deal I worked out is that I get to use it for anything I need but it is a a beast it powers though anything foot tall Georgia grass it dose great on
Edit I also tow another 72 inch tow behind deck off to the side he has wide open fields (about 7 acres and it all graded so it’s nice and smooth) so it works great being able to mow 12 foot paths
Is the Tiger Cat II a ton smaller/shorter frame than the Turf Tiger II? Is the size comparable to the BB Maverick?
Yes the tiger cat is smaller. I like comparing it to the rebel bad boy, but the rebel is bigger
What do you recommend for grinding up pine cones and cut grass too?
I will be honest I’ve never cut pine cones. I wouldn’t even know how that would work lol. I recommend a sweeper to pull behind the mower we pick up gumballs with the sweeper it works pretty decent for around $300 to $400

How much for the scag 36 deck
Scag has been using Briggs motor on a lot of models. I can’t find any reviews on them with scag. Are these motors any good?
Vanguard is briggs. They are the least problematic engine in the industry besides the Honda now
So i bought a 2023 patriot last month i noticed here you said 3400 pumps. Have they down sized them because mine has 3100 pumps and also was $8100 out the door kawi 22 and 52 inch. Im in va. I guess quality has come down in 2 years and price has went up. My patriot doesnt cut backwards worth a crap,thats the only issues ive seen with mine.
If it’s a 52” they have 3100. The 61 has 3400s or did. I’ll have to look to make sure 🙈. I picked up a grasshopper from a guy yesterday. He said he used to use Scag because they were cheaper than everyone else. He said grasshopper was always crazy higher. When he started noticing the pricing getting the same or higher with Scag he made the switch. I always thought Scag was higher priced, but I think he was talking about waay back in the day before I got into lawn care. I started in 2005. I do agree for $8k it should have had 3400s on it I’m sorry about that 🙈. I know things are getting higher and Scag uses really good higher end parts on the rest of the machine.
All mowers that I’ve used cut horrible backwards, so I hope that makes you feel a little better about your purchase.
Sitting on mowers in my dealership the patriot sits the best to me.
@kgmowers it is definitely a nice machine but when I go to lowes or homedepot or other dealers and I see 5k or less mowers built to the max with 3100s and bigger engines and thicker decks for 3k+ or less then I paid i fill a little cheated honestly. It does cut well. Just not backwards lol it will roll piles of grass out from the front of the deck when backing up and cutting .But the for this money it should have 3400s and the freedom and liberty should have 3100s. They actually have 2800s on the liberty I believe the freedom may have 3100s.
@@casey22857 the 61 Liberty has 3100s or atleast it did last time I looked. We have bad boy sitting next to them and they definately sell waay more due to the 7 Guage decks on their $3500 mower and up, trans, etc.
Where are you located ? And would you take a two year old Tiger Cat ll w/ 300 hours in on trade . I've got the Kaw 691V on mine and I would love to pick up something with a bigger Kaw motor or would entertain a vanguard . Thanks. Im in Oklahoma
Yes we do trades. The tiger cat with the 32hp vanguard is awesome or you could step up to the cheetah or turf tiger with the 37hp efi vanguard
Scag needs to offer a 42" or 46" deck. Two blades are enough to sharpen.
They do a 36 on the Liberty and it’s a good little cutting mower

Must be a 2020 Liberty Z in the video the 2021's have the transport lever and integrated hydro's meaning they don't have the oil reservoir (I think). I just bought one about a month ago and noticed it and my dealer didn't know anything about the change I was wondering if somebody forgot some parts. I learned that on the scag's TH-cam channel. I wonder which is better it sounds like Scag promotes it like there is less chance of a leak since they eliminated the plumbing involved with the tank and easier to change the oil? Liberty is a great mower for me I have only 1 acre and really speeds up my mowing as opposed to my old JD lawn tractor, and it really cuts nice. I got the 52. Doesn't stripe for me at all though.

Retail is $2427 and sale price is gonna be $2199. Price will depend on dealer of course. I’ve heard so many good things about them
@@kgmowers for 2400$ I'd rather just spend another 1k$ and get the Ferris. For me it needs to be less than 2000$ for me to be interested...unless they make some serious changes to it from the concept they revealed

Just because a person makes decent money doesn't mean their credit automatically going to be good just because what they make by the hour making good money does not set your credit score if you got here and do a job for $1,000 that's not going to boost your credit score the you understand what I'm saying
I'm in the process of fixing my credit it's not bad it's 6:50 but most people want a 700 or better
i sure wish that patriot 61 was still 7000. Close to 9000 now

I don’t think so. I can ask Monday but I don’t see any mounts. If you can pay a hair more and step up to the freedom z it will come with rops
Best bang for your buck is the tiger cat with the Kawasaki,61 velocity deck.

Ok so cool fact right now I have both with a few hours you can demo both if your close. Ok the Scag would be in the shop a little less, and the pumps are waaay better, but super jerky and touchy. Also has a year longer warranty, but $2k more almost.
The 36 the bad boy will win cut quality everytime, as far as the 48 and up Scag Definately wins everytime with the velocity plus. I like the 3400s on the bad boy and the smoother feeling drives. Definately like the deck lift better on the Scag.
Parts are lower priced hands down on the bad boy, notice Scag is a little higher on pto switch, etc…

My friend Reece had a diesel Scag that pulverized cones and twigs and leaves. Unfortunately he passed away. Now I,d like to get one. His family is not mowing so I can't use his old one.

There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
How good are the 2023 cheetah 2 mowers
There aren’t any changes over 21 to what I see they are the same. These companies aren’t changing much they are all struggling just to produce machines so not much has changed over the last 3 years it’s been hard to get inventory 🙈🙈

Scag patriot would be an awesome choice :). Or of course with 4 acres you could use any of the big ones. It depends on budget. I promise you wouldn’t hate a turf tiger on your yard at all :).

Not yet. Scag isn’t really popular or known around us yet. I’ve only had them 2 years and the dealer before me didn’t push them hard. Last year we only moved about 5 cats and prolly 50 rebels. Bad boy dominates here, just about every commercial guy has atleast one on the trailer and every municipality runs them. We have one city that has bought 17 from me over the years.

@@chaddmitri3485 we work on them all, but grasshopper is the least worked on. With Scag we haven’t done much to them at all. Bad boy we sell by the thousands so I of course work on more of those because the volume is so much higher of course. We sell more bad boy than all other 4 brands I carry combined.

Yes it’s crazy some mowers were $2k lower :(. I’m seeing used mowers selling for what they did new and people are losing $0 dollars sometimes
I'm running the 24hp Kawasaki and I'll have to be honest it's mowed 3-4ft weeds with no problem.
What mower is best, between the Scag and Grasshopper?
None of them, steer clear of all the junk Zero Turns. Virtually all of the new ones are cheap pieces of junk. You'll be lucky to get three years out of them before you have to start dumping money into it. Buy a real tractor if you want to get real work done. If your'e spending that kind of money, it better last 30 or 40 years, and so more than just mow. Do yourself a favor and shop around first, and look at different types of equipment before you drop 8 Grand on a junk zero turn.
Don't listen to gun guy for life
Scag has the best cut but grasshopper has the best reliability and attachments

We can do diesel. I can call to see if they have one. I’ve never sold a Scag diesel. We sell a ton of grasshopper and bad boy though. Still haven’t moved a hustler or Scag though since I’ve been a dealer

The only husqvarna we have ever seen is the ones sold at Sears and the other box stores. We southerners have a hard time buying something we can’t spell right anyways... if you don’t put husky for short chances are we won’t notice it in the ads 😂 🙈😜
@@kgmowers They make the baddest commercial mower in the industry, I've had guys that run mine and it doesn't take long and they trade there whatevers and get real mowers.

Right now briggs is our least problematic engine (of course Honda is the best, but it’s only available on a few machines)
Junk welds .The powder coat holds them together . Way over priced !!!!!
That’s a pretty rough statement for one of the most sought after mowers in the industry. Number 1 selling mower in Texas. I thought metal craft does an amazing job on the welds so far we haven’t seen any fail. We have only been a dealer for 3 years, but our college has been running them for right at 20 years. We have fought them for 12 years and we finally just joined the cult. Scag has taken our number 2 spot in out dealership this year.
I worked at MC , I know what they are . Bad fit parts lead to bad concave welds . Robot welders do almost everything . You believe in what you have . warranty covers almost anything nowadays .
SCAG is overrated, and overpriced, just like all the other cheap piece of junk Zero Turns. Buy a zero-turn if you like working on them, invest in a tractor to get your work done. A waste of money, can only mow with them. No PTO or hydro's = a worthless machine.
What tractors do you recommend? There are so many of them. We’re looking at Kubotas (they’re close by) for work on our 16 acres - using small, older Toro zero turn. Thanks for your comment. 🇺🇸
