    My wife and I are having our first child in February. Just want to say thanks for talking about your experiences so openly and scaring the shit out of me. No but seriously thank you we know plans always change and it’s important to remember that. But if you have a healthy family at the end of it, it’s all worth it. Much love!

    So glad to hear both that Henry and Paula are doing well, but also these men speak so openly about the difficulties their partners had during childbirth (again, in Greg's case).
    So much of this process feels either woefully under-discussed and/or romanticized; it's good to hear people speak about these, no doubt traumatic but still to some degree common, occurrences directly, so as to spread more awareness. Especially along men.
    Would love to have Gen & Paula do a special Kinda Hunnies episode speaking together about their pregnancies, if and when they feel up to it! 🩷

    Family members who want you to have kids: "Oh babys are great, carrying, giving birth, having those moments is all just so beautiful!"
    Every story of everyones actual birth: "OMFG THIS IS TRAUMATIZING!"

    • @AbdElWadoudIkhlef
      @AbdElWadoudIkhlef 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Briths go either way: it's either the easiest thing possible (easy for a birth, just to be clear cuz every birth is hard is on it's way), or the most traumatizing shit every, like "yeah, my wife lost 3l of blood, but she is doing fine now"

    Can’t even imagine 54 hours. My wife and I experienced just 17-18 hours and it was absolutely ABYSMAL for all parties involved particularly wifey (also had to revert to an emergency C section). So happy to hear he’s home and happy with you guys.

    Congrats, Kevin! My son is 6 months old and we had a similar experience. Emergency C-Section, then trouble breathing and he swallowed some fluid so they were worried about infection so he spent about a week in the NICU. Thank you for being so open about your experience. Nothing can prepare you for that stress. As I talk about it, I'm learning it's more common than I thought and I wish someone had told me that as it was happening. It's unfortunate how traumatic it can be. I'm so happy to have my son but the idea of going through that (or worse) again has made me and my wife strongly consider not having another child. Thank you for spreading awareness so future parents can be better prepared!

    Couple of observations:
    - births are so romanticized ("it's beautiful, a miracle", I mean yeah...) that when you live one, you realize how strong and brutal of an experience it can be.
    - health services in the US sound kinda funky.
    - It's crazy that humans didn't evolve in a way that gave birth in a smoother, safer way.
    I'm glad baby and mama Coello are both doing great :)

    My wife and I had an absolutely mad scramble when we went to deliver our daughter. It was a super scary 12 hours between getting admitted and her being born but even after that there was about an hour post birth where they had to work on her in the NICU before we were all clear. She stayed in the NICU for a week because she was born at 35 weeks but she’s healthy and almost 2 now. Glad everything wound up being Ok for Kev, Paula and baby C.

    Kevin and Greg, thank you for sharing your stories, I feel like too many times we're able to share the happy stories around the birth of our kids but not many negative ones. My wife an I also had a traumatic experience for our daughter. My wife's water ruptured at week 34 and she had to be admitted to the hospital to try and give birth. After 14 hours, it was determined that she would need a c-section as well. When they made the call, the nurses and doctors seemed frantic and they grabbed her and wheeled her away while another nurse threw me scubs and told me "if you want to be there, put these on and get in there now!". The main issue was that during thier rush, my wifes epidural ripped out so she went from feeling nothing to EVERYTHING. I walk in and I see her cut open and her just screaming. I run to her side and I'm freaking out as well. After a few minutes, my daughter was out but also was not breathing or crying. They held her up for my wife to see and my wife looked at her for a few seconds and then passed out. At which point, I'm panicking as I don't know who to attend to, my wife who passed out or my newborn daughter that wasn't crying or breathing. The clinicians ended up taking her away where she did end up breathing but she was born at just under 4lbs and spent 2 weeks in the Level 2 NICU and 1 week in Level 1 NICU. 12 years later, she's perfectly healthy with no issues and we are truly thankful. But at that point my wife and I decided that it was too risky to try for a second child.
    Thank you both again for sharing your stories as it's helped me deal with it as well. Those memories will be etched into my brain forever. ❤
