College isn’t for everyone. My daughter didn’t go and she now owns her own business. Both of my sons went and only one has a job within his chosen field of study. My other son has a job he hates because of his supervisors and coworkers. So just because you go to college doesn’t mean you’ll be successful. And not going doesn’t mean you won’t.

Based on my experiences, I cannot blame some people for dropping out of college or not going there at all. You have to spend a large amount of money for classes, textbooks, etc. You don't receive much help with your homework assignments. You are given a hard time to get a job or internship. There is no guarantee that you will get a successful job or career when you finish and graduate...

Absolutely true her sons happiness is more important. When the friend go in her car and started turning the key. I new that she'd have trouble starting the engine. He was trying to quickly fix it and save her some money.
If you want to go to college go by all means but remember mechanics, plumbers, electricians and welders all make great money
You can't force your adult child to do what they don't want to do. There's nothing wrong with any job as long as it pays the bills. Guarantee you she's gonna feel like a jerk when he fixes her car though. She could have at least been the bigger person and apologized for saying the things she said about him.
Bonnie I know what you mean how I was harshly judged for wanting to work in the Daycare industry after filling the gigantic holes in the bitter and toxc people's hearts I finally put my foot down studied very hard and worked in the Daycare industry until I was struck by at fault driver I am unable to work and proud of myself for standing my ground.

When you don't let children follow their passion and you push yours onto them then those kids end up doing nothing well most of them. As parents we have to let our kids make their own choices at time and just be their to help them. I'm glad she put her so called friend in her place, she should have told her to mind her business.

My two brothers, some uncle's, some cousins, my niece, hubby, n brother-n-law n other Family members are mechanics, and not one learned with a book, they learned hands on w thier dd and/or grandpa n/or uncle. That's how u really learn!

It's funny, mechanics are some of the highest paid per hour out there... and what happens if a lawyer's car doesn't start and they don't make it to court to represent, who do they call and need more than anything... yep, a mechanic. My daughter is a mechanic and the money is great. Even though she was the top of her class, in the gifted and talented and had a full ride to Duke because she's a math genius... her love is fixing motors, always has been and she's a successful business woman and the happiest working on an engine. I couldn't be happier for her.

I don't know where they make these videos but I got to tell you that I deliver auto parts to many different garages/mechanics, and most of these men are not hurting for money. Learning a trade is a very good thing. College is not always the best way to go.

How incredibly ignorant the mother's friend is. The skilled technical trades in the USA are paying very good money nowadays, especially with so many older techs retiring. Skilled Auto and Diesel mechanics (now called technicians) that are certified can easily earn between $60K and $100 K per year.
Do people really think mechanics are oily grungy people with a wrench in one hand and a screwdriver in the other? NO! Mechanics today have to know about machinery, robotics, computers, electricity, physics, and all that stuff!
A Mechanic Is Much Better Than A Lawyer, Because The Lawyer's Ride Is Going To Need The Mechanic's Help.
It’s not how you start. It’s how you finish. If he’s a mechanic, that could be a launchpad to owning a shop maybe a chain then allocating his resources into other assets. Those lawyers might be working for him someday. In chess you can’t just think about the next move but the next few moves that you can’t see with your immediate eyes.

The amount of money/prominence/ prestige a job gives you doesn't make you a success. What makes you a success is that you do good at whatever job you do and that it takes care of your basic needs of food, clothing and a roof over your head and a few wants you have.

You don't have to go to college to be successful. You're better off learning a trade. I know plumbers, welders and mechanics making a great living. College isn't for everyone and most people would be better off going to a trade school instead.

It took me years to realize how irate being given unsolicited advice makes me. Now, I shut people down as soon as they start pontificating. I'm a vegetarian, going-on-vegan, and "Don't you realize how little Vitamin B you're getting?" gets a polite but frosty response from me. Any effort to persist with the unwanted intrusion will see me leave, or ask them to leave.
