As controversial as it is, perhaps spotting from pit stalls like every other road racing series would make sense? 3/4 screens watching different camera angles and monitor a track map. I don’t see much value in having 5 spotters physically watching the cars. Keen to see how it all goes!
Listening to them I was exactly telling myself "hey, all other racing series have been able to make it happen for decades, even NASCAR in Canada... I'm sure you'll be able to make it happen..
2 year contract with the city. For you folks that have never been here, there is nothing east of Michigan Ave. If these teams/nascar can't find a building to setup in, they are just lazy. When you see a photo of the skyline taken from the lake anyone one of those buildings in the race area will have a full view
I don’t think you realize that they’d have to get permission. Half the town is against NASCAR even being there to begin with. The spotters can’t just walk into a building and go up to any floor they want and sit In whoever’s office they want.
There was a race track built in the RFK parking lot in DC in 1992. The racing series had a 10 year contract to race there, but after the first race weekend was completed... So many residents complained about the noise... The other 9 years was scrapped!

@@benallen2196 My problem with them is, they often are boring layouts because the planners want the track to go around famous parts of the city. All this hype for a race that is bound to be a snooze fest or a demolition derby. The track looks to be more designed for Indycar or F1, not Nascar. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Nascar has had some great moments and some great ideas but this STREET RACE IS THE WORST POSSIBLE IDEA EVER!! I'm a very positive person but this street race is not only asinine but down right insanely crazy stupid. These race cars are bound to wreck and I pray that this senerio doesn't happen but when these cars are wide open and get tagged or bumped or any number of things that cause driver's to wreck, how many spectators are going to be endangered along with the spotters!! I just don't see this as being a good idea at all!!! I've been watching Nascar for 66 years and this is the most idiotic idea Nascar has ever came up with. I wasn't fond of the coliseum race either. And one other problem I can see happening is a driver losing a wheel and GOD ONLY KNOWS WHERE IT MAY GO AND WHO OR WHAT MIGHT IT HIT???

Because with the sharp blind corners with a narrow track you can’t even get two-wide on, one car spins and it’ll wad up the whole field. It’s not just about who is beside or behind you.
What are you talking about? NASCAR is the largest and most valuable racing organization in the US by a significant margin. NASCAR is also increasing viewership numbers right now. Things are starting to get better... that is, unless you're one of those old school fans who thinks banning the bars and stars from tracks was the wrong move, in which case, good riddance.

They’ll need as many spotters as possible on the back half of the course with how narrow it is. One single car spins and the whole field will wad up

Wonder if both kinds of smoke will be there
Shouldn't be a issue as far as the Canadian wildfire smoke this weekend
Weed is legal in Illinois😊
NASCAR needs to provide each spotter with their own private helicopter. What could go wrong?
Right? 😂😂😂
The helicopters would be in competition mode😂
And bullet/stab proof vests

Maybe drones with cameras at each corner for each driver! 🤣
Kevlar vest 😂😂

Willis Tower?
Get Tryke from Jim's towing to hang a spotter from his rotator
Are they going to add side windows and door locks for this Chicago race? jk
That's a good one. I find it interesting that nobody's talking about the violence in Chicago. Fan's are gonna be targeted big time
