Your comment deserves nearly as much praise as the gentleman above. I agree one billion percent. In fact, you stole my very thoughts!!! A glass raised to you Sir!
I have subbed to your channel, and will most probably be ordering your wonderful book. I am utterly subjugated and flabbergasted at your prolific mastery of this king of instruments- the piano. The love of my life, but the instrument I DON'T play. I am afflicted with a bellows instrument, with triadic pre-prepared chords on the left hand, commonly known as the "squeeze box". If you (maybe rightly) think it's a toy, please look up my friend, Richard Galliano, the greatest living accordionist on the planet. However, the piano is my true love, and you do it justice Sir. My mind was blown away just with this Joseph Kosma's ditty- Les Feuilles Mortes in French. Most certainly the most played standard of all time. God bless. Greetings from France.
Thank you very much Jeremy for this very meaningful video. Each time, it changes me, gives me thousands of ideas. What I would have liked to live closer to your home to be able to meet you (I live in France). You are one of the exceptional masters. And we feel at every moment this taste you have for sharing and thus making the world better. Like an insider. Thank you so much. Christophe
I'm so happy that this is inspiring you and giving you ideas. I'm honored by your comments and hope to meet you in France someday. I certainly would love to travel there in 2023 and beyond!
He comprado muchos libros sobre jazz piano.
Amazing! I say this a lot in my videos, so sorry if I'm repeating myself, but I always appreciate it when people get the book from my website instead of Amazon as I get to keep more of the money. The website is www.jeremysiskind.com/shop/. Thanks, Federico!
Incredible video!! You were swinging hard on Autumn Leaves. This is what solo jazz piano is all about! I also have your book. Thanks for showing these styles in action.
Thanks so much for watching, Mark! These tunes are really empty vessels and we can do just about anything with them as long as it rings emotionally true.
Jeremy, thanks for this video on 8 approaches, I'm loving your book and watching these clips is such a great inspiration and supplement to apply these techniques. Thanks again 😁🎹
Thanks, Martin! It's one of my favorite things to do to try to see how many different ways I can play one tune. Hopefully every year I learn at least a few new ways!
Hi Jeremy, my new Tube-Teacher You are a very subtile-sly -,eam " Cat" I do dig your Ways! Thank you somuch for sharing your "secrets" very subtile, I let you know how things develop...I am in to GMC on piano
G.M.C.is actually Mick Goodrick/TimMillers book about endless ways to harmonize by Generic Modality Compression Stella by Starlight, would be maybe interesting omn Autumn Leaves too??
I love your teaching style! Can you please explain what you are doing in the right hand at 1:30-1:32 and 1:34-1:36? What is that type of lick called? Do you have video that covers it? Thanks so much!
I am going to buy your book, but nobody ever talks about peddaling and i tkind of bothers me, because when I sit at the piano I am thinking the stride like left hand which is what I wanna play with rootless voicings, are you Holding the Pedal and realsing when you the hit chord or are you peddaling all the way through and changing the pedal for the next bass note? when I Pedal with the bassnote and the chord than release for the next bassnote and hold it with the chord/ marrying the harmony blur together, it just sounds "strage" to me or something I am not used to in my headphones with my VST. HELP
I’ll make it easy for you - if I’m playing in medium or up-tempo swing styles, I’m pretty rarely using the pedal. Here’s a video with some exercises for pedaling control and awareness - Pedaling Exercises - Gain Pedaling Awareness and Elegance th-cam.com/video/MIxXJ4LPplk/w-d-xo.html
If I’m being really honest, the way that I learned how to pedal was by studying classical music with good teachers, and having them guide me regarding what to listen for. I talk about pedaling fair amount in the book Playing Solo Jazz Piano.
Hi Jeremy, I came here looking for piano sheet music for Autumn leaves. Does your book have it? I really like your versions a lot! I will need to watch more of your videos to see if your book is going to help me. Thank you!
Hi Lauren! I’m so glad you like my versions. My book is more of an instructional book to teach you how to make arrangements like those. It doesn’t really just have sheet music for performing. Sorry!
This book will arrive on Sunday. I just worry about I can’t play the song “jazzy” enough. The key is I am a classical trained person. Hope that I can have more new ideas from your book.
I wish I were developed as much as you are, master. However, I prefer to feel "biased" by or to a couple of great masters of piano, well known. It's like studying philosophy: One only starts learning it in general, but a real study will be with Big Names only. Happy teaching and learning in exchange!
Wow! What talent! Want to learn your sryle of play.
Imagine being so good that you can film this whole video in one take like this guy. Wow.
Haha I’m just too lazy to edit. This way is easier. But thanks!
"If you listen to the great pianists..." I am listening and watching one lf them right now: i.e. you!

Excellent video; as always
I am going to buy your book, but nobody ever talks about peddaling and i tkind of bothers me,

are you Holding the Pedal and realsing when you the hit chord or are you peddaling all the way through and changing the pedal
