Along with how that got the fiberglass cowls (That's supposed to be the 2 boost engines) passed by the FAA, the low level flying they did etc etc. Most of what you see was flown. Not at the speeds claimed in the series obviously, but at the altitudes shown, yes. Not everything sure, but what you think is fake, is probably real. Vertical tail rotor turns, incredibly low flying at 100-120 kts. Pretty much acrobatic flying was real. Hell, just the "unstable" rotor turns at 2-3 feet was crazy as hell already for a tv show....

The sequences which gave me the most thrill as a kid always involved Airwolf dodging missiles left and right, manuevering with aplomb between the massive clouds of debris. It just looked...so cool. Come to think of it, I think I'm still 10 years old.
I have to say, I grew up with this show as a kid, and even though the helicopter on its own is badass, I don't think I would've liked the show as much if it didn't have this killer theme. The song is just absolutely perfect, it launches you into something epic and gets you excited. It just proves that the right kind of music is essential to emotional build-up.

Still the coolest looking helicopter design ever. I'll never forget the episode where Hawke gets the shot he's been waiting for. Finally getting to use his power against the man that changed his life forever. He had a hard time letting go of the trigger. That one really stuck with me. haha Great episode.

Every episode was like a Hollywood mini movie, Such was the high production value, Jan michael Vincent was on something like $250K per episode, Unheard of money at that time for a tv show. R.I.P Jan & Ernest. Absolutely adored this show, That theme was just bubbles of bliss on my ears too.

DaChazSterTV Yeah. I would have loved too see that. The Lady and Pilot as one in filming, even with out the real ammo,......Man. I would be really worried if Airwolf had real ammo. The Russians were worried, Earnest said that in an interview.
They didn't have CGI no, but they did have a lot of stock film they re-used a lot. ;) I was too young to notice how often they did it when the show was actually on TV, but I loved watching it. The basic CAD line CGI they used for short cuts looked high-tech enough back then, especially when that stuff was usually only seen in movies. The show carried in reruns for some time as well, and it generated my interest in military helicopters at the time, which became a model-building hobby for a few years. I thought the real-life stuff was cool too, but Airwolf was always pretty AND deadly, unlike anything in anyone's military. As an adult now, I have to admit that the show has some definite cheese factor. It seemed like nearly anything was an excuse to throw down with guns and missiles in the sky, and some of the conflicts were very contrived. But what the hell, it's Airwolf. This must have been a fairly high-budget show for its time, and I the footage they shot of the thing just flying around is great, especially the speed shots over vast landscapes. A small part of me wants a modern remake, but the rest of me knows it'll just get screwed up like the remakes for everything else have been.
Christian Snyder I just saw that video of EB saying that. Shows you how deep the Cold War ran, especially in the Reagan-charged 80s. These days we probably could fit a lot of that weaponry, computing power, and scanning capability into a package that small and have it be effective with an acceptable range, but there's still no hope for Mach 1 speed.

I always believed more credit needed to be given to pilots of that helicopter in real life. Some of the shit those guys did for this show was insane stuff that even some experienced military pilots wouldn't attempt. The parts where they were flying just a couple feet above the ground was always awesome to see.

I grew up in Kashmir, Pakistan during the late 80s and early 90s, Airwolf, Knight Rider, Tom & Gerry, Chips and Captain Scarlet were aired on the only national TV channel Pakistan had then. Great memories!
I loved this, it was very well done! I have always loved helis' this sealed the amount of love I have for these flying beasts, they are incredible, if my sight had been ok I wanted to be a military heli pilot. I loved the eyes of Jan M V, they were incredible - the way they literally took on a look that said "Im going to kill you!" What a series !

The helicopter piloting in this show was always on point. Those stunt pilots pulled off some unbelievable maneuvers.

Iconic theme tunes were a major part of TV and film back then, it's a shame that's fallen away.
I loved this, it was very well done! I have always loved helis' this sealed the amount of love I have for these flying beasts, they are incredible, if my sight had been ok I wanted to be a military heli pilot. I loved the eyes of Jan M V, they were incredible - the way they literally took on a look that said "Im going to kill you!" What a series !

Fantastic work mate, love the creative spin you made on the theme to extend it out. This is one of the nicer renditions of the Airwolf theme. Nice work with the video editing also.

This show was ahead of its time. Great actors and storylines. So so sorry Jan Michael Vincent couldn't conquer his demons. Such a handsome, talented man. I had the biggest crush! 😢
