    I feel bad for that baby, getting ready to be born into a total mess. I still don't understand why Loraine or people like her are so shocked when their fellow cheating partner shows once again they are a cheater lol. If they'll do it with you, they'll do it to you.

    For those who are quoting FMLA: Employees are eligible for leave if they have worked for their employer at least 12 months, at least 1,250 hours over the past 12 months, and work at a location where the company employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles. Whether an employee has worked the minimum 1,250 hours of service is determined according to FLSA principles for determining compensable hours or work.

      Schadenfreude is a german word. Schaden is damage and Freude means joy. I just want to add that in Germany it means you usually feel schadenfroh, when something bad happens to someone who was doing you wrong or you dislike. It is not openly humiliating someone but that feeling you get like someone got what they deserve for their actions or behavior. It is like a "serves you right" feeling.

      New Jersey law classifies most employees as “at will." Private employers in New Jersey are generally free to terminate at-will workers for any legal reason or no reason at all, with or without cause or notice, without engaging in any disciplinary or administrative procedures. Especially since she intended on committing fraud against the company, a lot of companies require physicals which will include a pregnancy test.

    • @astrofan1993
      @astrofan1993 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually, you're thinking of at-will employment, where people can be fired at any time for any reason or no reason at all. Similarly, the employee can quit at any time for any reason or no reason at all. All states in the United States are considered at-will, but most states do offer exceptions, such as protection against retaliation for whistleblowing violations of public policy, protection from discrimination based on race, gender, religion, marital status, disability, etc.

    This is new. We don't get too many stories where the affair partners get married. Why would Cam think Charlotte would want to get back together with or be friends with Loraine. Wait! what? FMLA takes a long time to process. Loraine can't just up and take maternity leave the day she goes into labor. That's not how it works. I figured it was a warehouse job. Yeah, you two do know that. Is she trying to get money out of the company if she has a miscarriage. Cam and Loraine don't need to have kids. A woman who knows she is pregnant when she applies for a warehouse job knowing that lifting IS involved is wrong on so many levels. In the US, companies say on the job posting if lifting is required and how many pounds the person will have to lift, same with standing, twisting, etc. They also ask if there is ANY reason a person feels they won't be able to do the job WITH or WIITHOUT reasonable accommodations. Charlotte didn't think about what if her coworker quit/get a promotion/get sick, etc? Charlotte needs to take a more active role in the hiring process. Ofc, Cam is going to call Charlotte after haring she is the president of her family's company. Is cam seriously trying to cheat on his beloved pregnant wife with his ex-fiancée right now? Charlotte sent a screenshot to Loraine. NICE! ROFL Why is Loraine crying on Charlotte's shoulder? Did Loraine seriously ask Charlotte if she knows how it feels to be betrayed? Did Loraine seriously ask for Charlotte's support? Did she really call Charlotte bestie? Charlotte had to give Loraine life lessons as her last act of kindness.

    Jesus, did any of you feminists in the comments even listen to the freakin story? She thought she could take paid maternity leave and she hadn't even started the job yet, plus she had no intent on doing the job she was being hired for using being pregnant as an excuse! It's true they can't discriminate but she has to be able to do the damn job!

    • @BusArch42

      I did. I was horrified. I worked at my job for four years before having a baby. I worked full time until the day the baby was born and I was back at work after 12 weeks. I worked another number of years before having twins and they made me go home at 32 weeks so I was off three weeks prior and 10 weeks after. I almost lost my job because I was not eligible for FMLA since I was off for three weeks on bed rest. Those three weeks meant they said I wasn’t in a paid status for the previous full year. I got a phone call from a friend who heard they were processing my termination paperwork so I showed back up before they could fire me. Never forgot it either. When I retire, they will get two weeks notice. It’s been almost 20 years but I have a long memory. The reason they wanted to terminate me was because the supervisor two levels up was Mormon and thought I should be a stay home mom. I wish I was kidding.

    At least in the US most companies require you to have been full-time for at least 12 months before you qualify for maternity leave. So if she's already pregnant she won't qualify for maternity leave by the time she has the baby. With my daughter I ended up giving birth early and was 2 weeks shy of 12 months full-time so they said they could only hold my position for 2 weeks so I quit from the hospital

    For some reason before the after that segment I expected Loraine to accept since her only choice is her shitty husband. Loraine would then learn from going through hell from the other single moms working there. After suffering/learning in the lion's den she'd finally learn to be a proper worker & take responsibility.(Also Cam having to pay child support while all alone) I should have realized that wasn't it but hey these two are suffering alone together while using the person they fucked over as an excuse for why one of them should be working.
    I really hope that baby they're eventually having is safe considering the parents. With all the fighting & the fact the mom might be trying to be come a scam artist with the stunt at her almost job.

      I worked in a warehouse/factory environment during the summer between my high school graduation and starting college. Sometimes I would have to do maintenance stuff outside, too. Even worse, if something had gone wrong with Loraine's pregnancy while she was working there, I guarantee that she would sue Charlottes company for everything they're worth. Loraine has already outed herself as a cheater and a scammer, so this wouldn't be out of character for her at all.

    1,000 hours at 40 hours a week is only 25 weeks. Loraine should have that by the time she has to take maternity leave. In the not too distant past 6 weeks of leave was common for maternity. The math on this doesn't add up. And most places HAVE to limit the weight one person is allowed to pick up to a maximum of 25 pounds, especially if it is not "heavy" industry, like machine manufacturing or a steel mill. This is manufacturing maternity wear and from the sound of it, all the warehouse employees are female so the weight limit is already in place. How does vacation and sick leave time work in this company. Are hours or days based on hours worked? A preset amount of time annually? A combination? I worked a job where we got 10 hours of sick leave each month, that didn't change ever PLUS 10 hours annual leave (vacation time) to start and that increased by a few hours after every 5 years, until it hit a maximum then it was locked in at the maximum. I have known people that had a set number of days per year to use as "leave" regardless of whether it was sick or annual. And a fair number of people that had a set number of sick and annual, but that was per year starting after they had worked there for a full year. So how was it calculated at this company? And being in New Jersey, was it unionized? Location matters.

    I do hope whoever writes these stories knows that it is against the law for employers to ask if you’re pregnant, nor do they have to disclose that they are pregnant when they’re getting hired. Because because that can literally be used as a form to sue someone because he didn’t hire them because they were pregnant.

    If Lorraine was with the company for at least 6 months she is eligible for FMLA .
    No fucking way her boss can fire her for any reason . I know this for a fact .
    Now the leave is unpaid , but the company cannot touch her . If they do its a lawsuit , bigtime !
    I know this for a fact . Because I was on FMLA when I was out due to Heart Surgery.

      True, but Lorraine did not tell them she was pregnant when hired - fraud is a good reason for dismissal. The pregnancy prevents her from doing her job, plus she wasn’t employed during conception, insurance won’t pay. Not sure about paid leave either.
      FMLA is wonderful - had to use it while very ill and my supervisor was horrible.

      After probationary period is over. Loraine took maternity leave the day after she was hired. That's a no no. You can't take leave if you don't have leave. You worked at your company for years. You didn't take FMLA the day you were hired. Loraine is trying to take advantage of the system, Charlotte's company and her future coworkers. Do you know what it's like to work with people who take advantage of their coworkers.

      It depends on the company. I was full time and had to go out on bed rest when I was pregnant with twins. Because I was not working starting at 32 weeks I had those 3 weeks of bed rest, had the babies at 35 weeks and 6 weeks after. Even though I had been at the company for 5 years they set the hours such that you had to be full time for almost an entire year to get get FMLA. I almost lost my job because I was 40 hours short of qualifying

      this show video makes me unreasonably angry. the usa laws are ridiculous. in canada you get a year (there are requirements) but it shouldn’t be seen as “scamming” for wanting to recoup and spend the early days with your baby.

    • @BusArch42
      @BusArch42 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They cannot discriminate on hiring but they can require a physical a medical certification that the person can handle a physically demanding job. No dr is going to sign off on a two month pregnant woman doing a physical job. If she miscarried she would sue the dr. Also, it’s highly unlikely that they didn’t guve her paperwork asking if she had any limiting conditions for that job. She would have falsified it of she said no. Typical probation period is 90 days. If she cannot do the physical work at 5 months pregnant yes they can dump her. You can be terminated for any reason during probation. Also FMLA unpaid leave typically requires you work there for some length if time prior. Where I work it’s a full year to qualify and you have to work full time. No leave for dr visits etc.

    If this was in New York I would as a judge be ordering Charlotte to not only hire Lorraine but immediately grant her PAID Maternity Leave under NY Employment Rights Law up to 52 Weeks or 1 Year. Then I would impose sanctions against Charlotte for trying to compel Lorraine to not accept the job by imposing sanctions against her personally, not against the company in the form of financial damages in the six figures, maybe $150,000 plus interest at 5% per annum if not paid in 30 days from date of final judgment or from date of final judgment on appellate review. I'd also order Charlotte to keep health insurance coverage on Lorraine and the baby immediately from the moment of judgment retroactive to the date she should've been hired.
