As a Keralite, I have witnessed the remarkable transformation of the Malayalam film industry. Between 2000 and 2010, the industry faced a challenging phase where most movies lacked originality and failed to resonate with audiences. Going to theaters during that time often felt like a disappointing experience. However, after 2011, everything changed. A new wave of directors, scriptwriters, and cinematographers brought fresh ideas, innovative storytelling, and technical brilliance, leading to a creative renaissance in Malayalam cinema. Today, our industry is celebrated globally for its authentic storytelling and artistic excellence. As someone who grew up watching Hindi movies, I can’t help but hope for a similar revival in Bollywood. The industry, which once set the standard for Indian cinema, now seems stuck in a cycle of biopics and remakes, often lacking the creativity that made it great. Just as the Malayalam film Traffic marked a turning point for our industry, Bollywood needs its own watershed moment. A single, visionary film could inspire a new wave of originality and creativity, breathing life back into Hindi cinema. It’s time for Bollywood to move away from repetitive formulas and embrace bold, fresh storytelling to regain its lost glory.

The film culture in Kerala is drastically different from other South Indian film industries. IFFK is a big event in Kerala. I've seen college students from rural Kerala carpooling together to travel to IFFK to watch obscure indie film by Iranian and Korean film makers. Nothing quite like that exists anywhere else in India, even in Mumbai. Unfortunately for this same reason, Mollywood is also the least likely to produce movies that will go pan-India. Imo Mollywood should make movies for the global cinephile audience rather than a pan-India audience because Malayalam movies these days already have international quality. I know All We Imagine As Light is not technically a Mollywood movie but I hope the Oscars love it gets will steer global attention towards Malayalam movies.
Mollywood is a boring snoozefest industry u won't be able to make any pan india film because u r irrelevant outside kerala and all those people who shower fake praises on mallu movies are all failed ppl from Bollywood

It is very disheartening to see an artist of this calibre so broken and disappointed with his own fraternity. I hope he gets to create new stories the way he wants and his recent directorials get released soon with good distribution. We need to protect this man at any cost.
Anurag, you are always welcome to Hyderabad. We watch a lot of Hindi and experimental films here too (along with telugu and english) and not just the huge commercial films. Those are the ones just go to different states from here in the name of pan India. But the smaller films are lot more appreciated and encouraged by the TFI industry and the general audience. We watch a film every friday/saturday in the theatres. So please do come!
Loving this no-hold Kashyap taking down the film corporates. I genuinely hope he gets the freedom to get back in the director's chair. I love him as an actor, but his writing and directing prowess is something else.
What a FANTASTIC INTERVIEW, this man is a genius for a good reason. His mind needs to be preserved in a laboratory for future filmmaker’s to learn from.
The host does an incredible job of not interrupting and letting the guest flow. At the same time, he is not trying to unnecessarily get the last laugh or one up. Great conversation.
It's disheartening to see such talent getting wasted by the industry. This demotivates youngsters who wants to pursue this passion as a career.I hope things changes in future we need more young talents in our industry 🤞
Much respect, Mr.Kashyap. We have all seen Anurag go from a quirky newcomer, to a rebellious pioneer to a ground breaking legend, to a somewhat mainstream high society hobnobber, to a disillusioned idealist and now, there seems to be a resignation and acceptance. One thing that Anurag Kashyap is not is a pretender.

I am sorry for my lack of information , but the interviewer , I don’t know his name has done a fantastic job with this interview. He made Anurag so comfortable and this is one of his finest interviews imho.
The commerce is driven by algorithms, but the guys who source the materials aren't trained to look at whats gold and whats gas . They dont understand that the star of any movie is the story, the screenplay, or its execution, not just one actor. You only get a BigB or an Srk once a generation who can bring ppl to theaters ,the real stars are the directors who can take an subpar actor with expression of a stone and give a bajrangi bhaijan or maidaan..
Priority should be making an engaging film, it should be promoted with innovative techniques, everything else will follow. It will do good business, stars will be made.

I still wonder to this day what would've happened if Upendra continued to hone his skills solely as a writer and director instead of trying to become an actor during his prime years. He would've probably gone down as the greatest director in the country, and we would've got so many ground-breaking and unapologetically ambitious movies that pushed boundaries and open discussions on topics that other filmmakers are afraid to even touch upon.

Interviewer is really good....he needs appreciation for letting anurag speak more and he fillling gaps whenever required
🙂
Yes, they are rare species, and needs to be appreciated in these times.
oh definitely. bare minimum, but quite rare
Waiting for an Anurag Kashyap Malayalam film 👌👌
Kerala is where passion meets Art and creativity. It is enough. We are not bothered about formulas. Anurag ji I'm your die hard fan since Dev-D. The wave stimulation for your brain is here down the south. Please come and collaborate more
dont shit garbage most of industry owned by crypto christians propagandist like bullywood and mzlems .
The golden era of malayalam cinema is long gone
Enna da .. dev -d movie aa pazhayathu, this man has passed his prime long back macha , don’t keep any hopes you can check his last 10 years directed films they are huge load of crap 💩.
@@Mikael-h2r5i Lmao no way. Go watch their movies
@@thequadfather2238 Go watch Malayalam movies of the Golden era - 80s and 90s. 🤡
This interviewer is doing an AMAZING job. He just ask the right things. He just know his job, his guest and the guest's likes and nots. His questions and the way he directs the interview deserves applause. Please keep doing this good work. Lots of respect and love from Kerala❤
The reason no one outside Kerala likes mallus is exactly because of this. Constant sniffing your own farts. No wonder it’s bankrupt state 😂
Absolutely, I felt it when I visited iffk 🎉🎉
Drishyam was pan indian
first make your state global your mallu beggars are begging in other states
Mollywood is a boring snoozefest industry u won't be able to make any pan india film because u r irrelevant outside kerala and all those people who shower fake praises on mallu movies are all failed ppl from Bollywood
WHAT A FANTASTIC INTERVIEWER. SOOOOO MUCH GOOD TO LISTEN HIM AS WELL
Come settle in kerala sir. South is the area which suits you.. It was really fun to see you speaking half malayalam in rifle club. Can't wait to see more
Enna da macha ? He has lost his prime long back all he can do is do some acting for small roles that’s it don’t keep hopes .
You can check his last 10 years directed films they are huge load of crap 💩.
Last 10 years movies.. Masaan, Mukkabaz, Raman Raghav 2.0, Psycho Raman, Kennedy etc.. I guess he has still left so much to tell us.
What an insightful talk it is!!! The interviewer deserves an applause👌👏👏👏
Yes
Loving this no-hold Kashyap taking down the film corporates. I genuinely hope he gets the freedom to get back in the director's chair. I love him as an actor, but his writing and directing prowess is something else.
What a FANTASTIC INTERVIEW, this man is a genius for a good reason.
His mind needs to be preserved in a laboratory for future filmmaker’s to learn from.
Dear Anurag Kashyap,
Tamilnadu welcomes you with open arms 😊
கிழிஞ்சிது போ.
@@snl1754. Watch Upendra's Kannada movies A and Om. Kannada Pride. As mentioned by Anurag
shit nadu😂
This guy has lost his prime long back dude , don’t keep any hopes .
Anurag kashyap's performance in Maharaja was something I never expected,, he carried the character like a pro.. 👍
saddesst interview i have ever heard in 2024, come south anurag sir we all love you!!-Tn
That's why he's doing this drama. To fool south audiences like you.
The PAIN in his words when he speaks about Hindi film industry. Sir you're always welcome to SOUTH.
This is not an interview.. it's Anurag Kashyap bashing bollywood and i am absolutely enjoying it ❤😂
Me too
Me too
The host does an incredible job of not interrupting and letting the guest flow.
I can’t unsee him as the “villain”from Maharaja.
Watch "Imaika Nodigal". You ll want to kill the villain.
True
Best interview of recent times. The interviewer talks only when necessary. I super admire Mr Kashyap's analyses and thought process on varied matters of Indian Cinema
Tamil and Malayalam will embrace him and nurture him. Make the move now Anurag!!
Kannada Pride : A and Om movies. All great Film makers Sandeep Reddy, Prashant Neel, Kamal Hassan, Ram Gopal Verma : they have openly praised Upendra
That would be waste of time !
This man has lost his prime long back you can check his last 10 years of directed movies they were huge load of crap 💩
Can't finish watching this without talking about the anchor. Kudos to you. You have such a great knowledge in films and the charm in you is so good to watch. The way you indulge in conversation with Anurag Kashyap is soothening to watch.
Felt like an era has come to an end.
Sad and disappointed in a film industry plagued by corporate greed 😢
At least corporate cinema is there in bollywood, so bollywood movies will still prevail.
Atleast corporate cinema exist in bollywood
These corporate will sit and lose money
They will force
Dharma and yashraj to change there movie style
Focus more on hindi belt
Instead of doing tusi asi usi like totoi futi Punjabi
It doesn't matter how much critical anurag is
Speciality of cinema is it's reinvent itself
People specially bihari will start getting bore from mass movies like Pusha
Bollywood have to catch that space
When an intelligent host interviews an intelligent filmmaker is a treat to watch.
Can't even think of a single reason for not releasing Gangs of Wasseypur in Bihar, UP & Haryana. I'm a Malayali and I guess I understand the Hindi audience better than the Bollywood producers/ distributors.
You barely get to see such a good interviewer these days ,like no nonsense questions and knows what he is talking about and a very good listener.will be looking forward to watch more of his interviews .
And Anurag Kashyap 🔥
most depressing and terrifying interview in the recent times, the disappointment and disgust is purely justified, i hope we get through shit to reach gold
Yet another great interview this guy is a real gem
What an absolutely subtle and authentic conversation!
Uppi ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
Whenever I feel doubt on my career as filmmaker, this man suddenly appears and gives me motivation and disappears ❤
I am sorry for my lack of information , but the interviewer , I don’t know his name has done a fantastic job with this interview. He made Anurag so comfortable and this is one of his finest interviews imho.
It's Vishal Menon!!! This is his forte!! He has been a great film reviewer with multiple places before hollywood reporter
@ hahaha thank you , I knew he was a Mallu bro though , he is amazing.
what an amazing conversation. interviewer is awesome.. So happy to listen to Mr. Anurag kashyap......
Film buisness is not about algorithms but passion and convction.
What an interview! Kudos to the interviewer for asking such insightful questions and then patiently listening to Mr Kashyap
Anurag bashing bollywood itself a genre which is never a disappointment to watch
Anurag ji, In Riffles Club, you are the hero. Lots of love from Waynad
Upendra's A is GOAT.
Our Kannada Pride. Kannada Legend
All Legends : ram Gopal Verma, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Prashant Neel have openly Praised Upendra. Go check

Manhh the interviewer and the fact that anurag splitting is suprb. Amazing interview this is so engaging and informative.❤️🔥
Interviewer is too good........treat to watch him.........Anurag the master..........just love whatever he does........BIG BIG FAN
This interview's awesome, and major props to the interviewer for sticking it out! Millions should see this.
Always enriching to hear Anurag Kashyap talk about cinema & filmmaking.
You know why this interviewer is so good because probably he's from south of India. ❤ from north
He is from Kerala
Fairly surprised that anurag sir worked with jithu sir. Flabbergasted to know it was anurag sir that played devanandan's role.😮
Please make more such works like rifle club what a treat the movie was!
One of the few artists who dared to speak about the Bollywood and the difficulty to survive. Have got immense knowledge of world of cinema. Like to see him as a director/ actor in future...❤❤
we see the redness in his eyes as well as moist, that how a creative freedom can be snatched and has a devastated impact on such a gifted filmmaker
Anchor did a great job 👏
No exaggerating anything, kept it very calm and casual.
Impressive 👍
It's so pathetic that Nepotism and money minded movie makers destroyed bollywood industry... And i don't know why i always thought that Anurag is a south indian guy.. Now feels so happy that he's moving to south. Welcome sir ❤
Great interview! It was amazing to see a legend like Anurag Kashyap in conversation with such a knowledgeable interviewer, well-versed in films from across all industries in the country.
AK❤️ he have an keralite swag 🔥💎
This is how a interview should be...other than playing around with the stars with (A) rated questions..Liked this one..Good Job 👍
The interviewer itself is a real inspiration.
Such a calm, thoughtful, and engaging interview - truly a rarity these days. No sensationalist questions, and the interviewer really knew when to speak, when to listen, and how to keep things interesting. I enjoyed it even more than Anupama Chopra's interviews (although I like hers too). We need more content like this, full of substance and sense. Kudos Vishal Menon & AK... U guys kept it so real.
What a genius man Mr. Anurag Kashyap, wow... Great Interview. ❤
Amazing interview ❤
38:53 Mammootty ❤
mammooty is known as scape goat of indian cinema
30 movies nominated for national award, final rounds 16 movies for national award,4 given
bollywood lobby at its best in denying national awards to this great actor
bollywood pr team who gave national award to saif alikhan and dadasaheb phalke awards to srk for mediocre film jawan
must not question mammooty is.a mother giving national award to son saif ali han and dade saheb for mediocre jawan can happen only in bollywood not in malyalm cinema.malyalam cinema doesn give fake awards to its actors like bollywood and make cringe films like jawan.
malyalm cinema work speak for itself where as bojpuri industry bollywood needs pr team and itcells to promote ther ecringe films
like jawan and dunki
I don't think you know what scapegoat means...
Please mention the year and nominations here! These PR teams are everywhere.. Omg! Last year it was 20 nominations.
His PR seems to be working overtime. Also scapegoat means something else. Kinda stupid to play the victim card out of vengeance. Dulqar wouldn't be successful in Hindi otherwise.
I think you mean just GOAT lol. A scapegoat is someone who’s blamed for someone else’s wrongdoing
BOLLYWOOD PR TEAM who gave national award to saif alikhan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards to srk for mediocre film jawan
must not question Mammoty & MALYALM CINEMA.MALYALAM CINEMA DOENST NEED PR TEAMS LIKE BOJPURI INDUSTRY BOLLYWOOD
MALYALAM CINEMA WORK SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
