Great tip! It’s about time someone took the time to show the PROPER door window glass installation on a 69-70! THANK YOU for taking the time to do this!
Ok, I am going to try it on the Stang. I have no idea how to do it thanks. Question for ya. When you say "the window is now ready to install" after you get the brackets in the door, what do you exactly mean?
Oh you gotta put the guides and regulator in. That’s a whole battle in itself getting the window lined up so it seals with the quarter glass and the weather stripping. When I got mine lined up perfectly the regulator broke because I had something at too extreme of an angle. Luckily the part that broke could be replaced by a E clip. I would recommend watching the west coast classic cougar video if you have questions about the full install.
@@Merccat_ Got ya and thanks! That West coast cougar video is gold. But he does not tell about the quarter glass. Do you have any info on how to work on the quarter glass? I really just need to know if I can pop out the read side panel to get to it. Does it just come off like the door panel? I came across a few where the seat has to be removed?
@@8biminiroad I did mine when the interior was stripped out. On cougars there’s 2 screws at the bottom of the quarter card and I think one at the top keeping the top edge in place. Then you’ll have to unscrew the outer trim beltline with the window rolled down and quarter card off. Unbolt the window stop in the door jamb. After that use the holes in the metal inner structure to unbolt everything - roll the window up till all the bolts line up with the holes. I think I removed the regulator first down through the big hole in the bottom (don’t scratch your glass) then I took the window out the top I can’t remember if I took it out of the track or slid the window down and removed it as one assembly out the top. WARNING: THERE ARE HOLES THAT GO INTO THE ROCKER! COVER THEM UP - YOU WILL DROP SOMETHING Edit - both windows where unglued so I didn’t have to worry about the glass taking them out. Unfortunately, I scratched one with the regulator when I put it back in
@@Merccat_ Ok cool. My 69 Mustang had sat up for years then I got serious about bringing it back. Last guy who worked on the interior 30 years ago took some shortcuts when he installed the glass. He didn't even cut out the door panel for the joystick to the side mirror. The glass on both doors was not glued in. It was just apparently sitting in there or either the glue had gone bad over the years. So I just yanked the window right out. The brackets have fallen down into the bottom of the door. Soooo, next weekend I am going to follow the west coast classics video. He doesn't say much about the quarter glass though. I think that is gonna be the challenge. I gotta do both doors and the quarter glass on the driver side. There is no videos out there about the quarter at all for the 69. I think I am gonna have to pull out the back seat to remove the panels. Gotta replace a headlight switch and dome light too. You got me started though!
@@8biminiroad Glad I could help! Yeah I think the back seat has to go. The quarter glass really wasn’t bad just disconnect the regulator from the window then unbolt the regulator from the inner structure of the car. It has less adjustment since it can’t tilt. Just take pictures if you’re worried. I will say I had to do a balancing act with mine, I got the quarter window in sealing well but I didn’t have enough adjustment on the door glass to get it to seal to the quarter window so I had to adjust the quarter window again to seal with the door glass

Great explanation of the door glass install. I'm going to be tackling this soon on my 69 Cougar. Thanks
