Robert Caro has been one of the most hard working and honest historians of any president I can think of. The man has literally written the book(s) on LBJ in an authoritative and measured fashioned.
A true historian and one who pays attention to DETAILS. This is what is missing from pop historians and journalism today.

Such a thorough 'seat of your pants' investigator...leaves no stone unturned and even looks under the upturned ones just to be sure.

You know, i got annoyed when I learned Caro was writing a book that wasn't the last volume of his LBJ not-biography, which is excellent. But, aside from him not needing my OK, I think it's actually a good thing that he recorded what this kind of old-school historical effort is like. A dying breed.

Has Caro’s research been bequeathed? To who?

In vol 1 he mentions LBJ’s letters to Bird. Are these now avail? The inference is the library had them, but his wonky footnoting?
In vol 2, same issue with the records for first radio station.
