Every fall my sister make jelly & Jam .strawberry, strawberry pineapple, grape, Peach, guava, fig , about 10 different kinds..we do it together. I am 88, my sister is 86..
I love making jams! I made strawberry jam last year with my brother in law, we used strawberries and sugar only, brought to a rolling boil, stirring constantly until it thickened up, probably took 25 to 30 minutes, jarred them up, water bathed them and oh boy is that some yummy jam. I’ve made peach, blackberry, apple butter. I also love to can stewed tomatoes, pickles, carrots, potatoes, pears, apple sauce oh just about everything. Nothing better then home canned food.
@@suestephan3255 we used a frozen strawberry compote that already had some sugar so we just added a bit more to our liking. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
Want to make strawberry jam this season..never have before..though I am on a keto lifestyle, I will substitute the sugar and use keto granulated sugar product. It looks so delicious..love your videos🙂
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily It’s easy. A few days before you plan to make your preserves just finely dice up 1-2 habaneros. Lay them out on a paper towel to air dry for a few days. Add them in with your preserves as they’re cooking. It’s not hot but adds a nice flavor. ❤️
Nice looking berry jam you made. I’ve been a canner for over 30 + years, from water bath to pressure canning; but my favorite jam is - muscadine. Happy Canning Everyone 🌷
Hey Miss Karen...this was a great video & I loved the strawberry pages between each section of the video...I love strawberry jam & preserves...you made this look so simple & the jam was so pretty in the jars...also Miss Patchy was guarding the porch & back door.. such a pretty girl! Ya'll have a good evening...🍓🐈⬛🍓
Thank you so much for showing me this! Can I use the same recipe for any fruit like apricots and plums because I have those trees. Wondering if you could do one on pickles sometime. Thank you, I love your channel! So does my husband, he loves the food so much❣️👍😋
Hi Karen, that sounds good for sure , I have R/A real bad that I can't use my hands anymore , so my husband dose the clean of the strawberry's , he uses a drankiñg. Straw to take the core out it works all the time , well enjoy your jam Karen, hey pop Jones how you doing? Well you both take good care of yourselfs ❤God bless you both 🤗 have a great week 🌟 Bye for now !!! ❤❤❤❤ 18:29
I don't recommend you decreasing the sugar very much because I tried that and what a terrible flop and waste of fruit. I didn't know what I was doing and thought, wow this so much sugar I'm going to lessen it. Haven't made jam since but I'm going to try it again. May I also suggest checking if Splenda has a canning recipe for jam, good luck. 👍 🙏

Hi how much sugar do you use? I want to try this in a month or so & I got some at the Farmers Mkt. that was too sweet for my liking.
I used 6 1/2 cups sugar. Full recipe in description box under the video.

It is easier than I ever thought it would be, and better than store bought. Love you my friend ❤️ 😘

Sounds like a pepper jelly. Not hot as you say but delicious 😋
Looks delicious. I make different jams. Strawberry and blueberry are my favorites. I also use the recipe on the SureJel box.

Strawberry jam is my favorite too. I haven’t made it in years.

Thank you. Yes, I'm sure you can use most fruits. I want to do blackberry as soon as I get some.

I've never canned, and was looking forward to seeing the jars going into and out of the boiling water. How many did you do at a time? Thanks!
I did 10 of these but they are small. Regular size jars, pints, I can do around 7 at a time. ❤️
looks yummy!!
I love me some blackberry Jam but I have to make my own as I can't have the seeds in it anymore 😅
I might try this , I like strawberry jam, but being a pre diabetic can u leave out the sugar
I'm not sure about that. I've thought about that. My brother can't have sugar. ❤️
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily ok thanks, if I try it I will let u know. Thanks, have a good nite

I don't think your link for the cookbook is working??? Maybe it's just me.
Link for cook book please
Thank you.

I would use my pastry blender to smash the strawberries
I thought about that but couldn't find where I packed it away. 🤔 ❤️
I helped my grandma can jam but now that she’s gone I’m scared to can by myself. I’m intimidated for some reason about botulism
Don't be. It's so easy. Jam is so easy to make. I'm not into pressure canning but I love water bath canning. ♥️
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily thank you that encourages me! I will rewatch yours a few times because you made it look so simple
