New freeware Touhou fangame that came out recently. It's the newest game from the same group that made games like Hollow Song of Birds, Riverbed Soul Saver and Trifocuser. They are known for consistently making very high quality free Touhou fangames since 2012.
I've played the demo for this one before but now the full version finally came out.
The game was designed by Len this time, who you might know as the guy that made Phantasmagoria Trues. It's easily one of the best Touhou fangames ever made because of that.
The stage design is very tight and all the boss patterns are super fun and creative. The stages are a lot more arcade-like than what you normally see in Touhou, but I prefer that a lot more since it's way more involved and fun.
The game is also very hard, way harder than their other games.
MarisaB is easily the most fun shottype to use in the game. It has good speed and range and the backshot gets a lot of use too.
The biggest DPS with this shot comes from sitting on top of an enemy unfocused and letting both your front and backshot hit it at the same time. This does a MASSIVE amount of damage. Shades of Impossible Spellcard perhaps.
The demo had a bit of a problem with Youmu being very bad. They fixed it by buffing her but they went like waaaay overboard with it. She kills basically everything before it even does anything now. Not quite MoF MarisaB tier but it's close.
The system is basically the Mystical Power Plant system but with a twist. Shooting enemies and grazing their bullets releases autumn items. Collecting these will give you levels at certain thresholds, and every level gives you a perk.
Unlike Mystical Power Plant though, you keep these perks until you use a special attack, which will consume two levels.
Special attacks vary between character and shottype, they can cancel some bullets or give you some temporary invincibility.
Getting levels and extra levels also gives you bomb and life pieces.
Stage 4 boss was a bit of a mess but I made up for it by getting a perfect stage 5 lmao. The stage 5 boss is crazy hard so that was kind of silly.

Even for Touhou Lunatic standards, the first two stages absolutely caught me off guard for how difficult they look. 0_0
Man, it's amazing how consistently great the games this group makes are. I honestly get more excited for them than I do for mainline Touhou games. Hard 1cc with bombs is my limit, it's kind of surreal seeing somebody manage a lunatic nobomb run.

New subscriber here. Im amazed by your gameplay videos man. Also, the commentary is great, you should work some more on that. As a shmup player, I can understand a lot of what you've been through to achieve those scores and 1ccs, so what you are displaying here makes a more immersive experience, very fun to watch and read. Hey, what capture card would you recommend for x360 ? I wish i could record some of my games. Much love ! You are the best shmuper on the net. And i can not wrap my head around the fact that you use pad for these insane replays ! ;D
I've personally used Avermedia Live Gamer HD and the Live Gamer HD 2 and both are great cards. Their current model is the Live Gamer 4k which I haven't used, so check reviews, but I expect it to be good. You will be fine for X360 but if you plan to record PS3 you'll also need an HDMI splitter, which is a box that goes between the console and the capture card (need an hdmi cable in and another one going out of the splitter). This is because the PS3 video signal has HDCP and won't work normally, the splitter disables this. Any other consoles (PS4 etc) you will have no issue.

Yeah, the hitboxes on those bullets are weird.
@@minepose98 Checking the source code, they're 2px diameter. Pretty small, considering if you don't specify collision radius in dnh the default is 6px diameter (minimum).
Why does almost every single Kaisendo Touhou fan game have a lоli as final boss? I mean we already have Iesua, Fuma, Horou and now there's also Shuu.
Not complaining tho, in fact I think it makes the games a lot better :3

Normal mode is crazy for me at first but now, Hard mode is a standard difficult for me

Too much particle effect, and Marisa makes it even worse. Otherwise it is a good game.
