- Newest Touhou fangame by the people who made Riverbed Soul Saver and Mystical Power Plant etc.
It's a mystery novel disguised as a shmup.
The game has three routes, each one has a different playable character and every route loops. It's not an actual looping game though as you select the loop at the start. The loop is also not different at all except for the dialogue, midbosses being slightly different and it having a different final boss.
Goal of the game is to play through all six routes and figure out the mystery of the game for yourself as the game will not tell you. You have to do this before you can access the Extra stage. Extra is not implemented as of yet though.
Mechanics are simple, collect items to increase the bottom-left gauge. When it's full you get a bomb or life piece. The gimmick of this game is that at some point the gauge freezes at 99 and you have to bomb before the gauge resumes itself. I figured there would be a score advantage to keeping the gauge at 99 but there isn't. It's a very weird system as all it really does is encourage bombspam.
This game is very weirdly programmed. Boss and midboss fights run at 120 fps disguised as 60 fps for some bizarre reason. Fraps had some trouble making the awkward adjustment every time so sorry for that.

I figured out the life/bomb collection system.
You can only obtain the last shard of a full life when you have the maximum number of bombs (3).
The point number freezes at 99 to force you to bomb to get your life shard, but also free up a bomb slot so that the next bomb shard can be collected.
Then again...they could program it to just not collect the shard when at 3 bombs. Why even have such a low limit anyway?
I assume you mean NOT at your maximum number of bombs?
Whoever did the music for this game also did the ost for Mrs.Estacion, right?
... I think they might be a ZUN-level compositional genius and I really wanna hear more from them in the future.

GEEEZ the boss sprite is massive! Not to mention, what is with the change of artists on the dialogue pictures!?
As well as the colour pallets on the actual characters could have been better... Sorry! Just my opinion.

It's a good game, too bad I can't play it. It crash at the end of stage 2, sometime before. I don't know why but well.

What did you do to download this game? I've been through the official page and I have no idea how to download this. I downloaded two .lzh extension files but I don't know what to do with those.
For example, you can extract it using 7-Zip.
This feels weird and less well-made than their usual stuff, I dunno why.
How do you disguise framerate anyway? Is that why the final boss kept dipping to 30fps even with nothing on screen?
That's because this game was not headed by ido, but by NRT, so that's why it's fairly different in multiple ways from ido's games. The concept is interesting, to be honest, but the gameplay does feel a bit weird in comparison to ido's games. And the art... kinda sucks. A friend of mine can't stand how the eyes are placed incredibly weirdly on the characters. :V

This game would be a lot more appealing if the art wasn't done by a 12 year old on deviantart imo
